Wright had one good year. He was in a similar position with Gold Coast to where he is now before we traded for him. This tells me he's capable of getting it back and his loss of form was due to a number of factors.I think he has as well but right now I would rather have another look despite the fact I think he is done.
1. He missed a big block through a serious injury and when he returned it would have effected his ability to catch the ball above his head.
2. He isn't necessarily a pea-heart, but he's not an animal and that suspension affected him.
3. We started playing a high press and there was no room for him to lead into.
This year, if we're moving the ball quicker and there is space up forward he could get back his form. While he may not get back the same level of effectiveness up forward, with Bryan out for the year we need a ruck/forward with Draper spending more time on the ball than we originally planned this year.
The first few weeks we desperately needed a decent sized forward to kick to. We still lack in that. Wright playing in decent form, not necessarily reaching the levels he did before he got his 4 year contract, could be that extra target to kick long to. This will allow Kako and Menzies to crumb and Langford and Caddy can lead up at the ball.
Wright is still on 28.
