This is a bit of a back of envelope calculation but it's true to the squiggle philosophy of "margin matters".

With that in mind, here are the last 10 premiership teams and their win/loss and percentages at the end of round 6.

W-L %
3-3 136
5-1 155
5-1 129
5-1 137
5-0 142
5-1 141
6-0 151
6-0 139
3-3 148
5-1 131

North are 6-0 with 125% and it's that 125% which is the concern, IMO. I suppose it doesn't rule them out completely since Hawthorn were 5-1 with 129% in 2013 however 8/10 premiership teams had a percentage of 135+ at this stage.

I would say that currently Geelong, Sydney, GWS and the Bulldogs are all better placed, with their percentages at 140+.

North are probably in the 2nd tier with Adelaide and West Coast.

Remember the 2 flags, 4 grand finals and 30+ finals the Swans have played since then? Sure, if we're going down that path.

I already made my point and I put a facetious point in, since a few North supporters already have their tails up after beating mostly crap already this season.

Any team that loses to Carlton in pretty much shit. In any case, while the roos are scraping over the line against injury hit and low confidence teams, the rest keep on going. There's a reason no one rates the roos.
You seem mad, just relax, if you don't win the flag this year I'm sure the AFL with gift you another gun.

North are going OK. Not sure why all the angst when people rightly point out that there is scope for improvement. Do North fans really think they are playing premiership class footy?

Your forwards are going very well but the defence is pretty shaky. You have gone very close to conceding 100+ points in half your outings and have conceded the 6th most points of the top 8 teams...and you kept the bullies to nothing on Friday.

Shootout footy is good for the neutral viewer but it's hard to win a flag playing that way.

Well when you see how hysterically they're responding, why wouldn't you?

It's like fishing with hand grenades for people in here.
Thats the best thing about being undefeated and top of the ladder. Only one team is laughing hardest at the moment

A lot of people seem to be attacking North in this thread. There's not much more they can do at this point. They're 6-0 and have beaten every team they've played. Yes, some of the teams aren't in the top 8, but has any club played all top 8 clubs so far?
I think Lions are the closest having played 1,2,3,4,6 & 10 (who were undefeated at the time)

With one difference: the squiggle actually rates us whereas it didnt rate freo very high last year. If you mean the whole having chip on your shoulder that no-one takes us seriously or rates us etc then you're new to North fans. We're all like that (me included).

I couldn't give a rat's arse if anyone rates us or not. I just dislike creative bullshit used as reasoning. There are plenty of factual reasons to rate or not rate anyone, you don't need to invent bullshit as a basis for an opinion.

No. Is anyone? Would it even be desirable to be playing your best footy this early?

Definitely has been shaky, but it wasn't shaky on Friday night. We put the pressure on and defended well, restricted a side that was averaging 98.8 down to 45 and laid 92 tackles. I think we showed in the finals last year we were pretty good defensively, we just didn't score that freely. I think our balance is a lot better so far this year.

Shootout footy is good for the neutral viewer but it's hard to win a flag playing that way.

I think you need a balance, the magic number is to average over 100 and restrict your opponent to under 80. To restrict a very damaging side like the Dogs on the pristine Docklands I think is a good sign, we played in hot and humid QLD conditions twice to date, hard to play that style in those conditions and we played the Dees in a hurricane which made it very easy to score at one end and hard to defend.

I think the positive is that there is still a lot of room for improvement, but we are banking the points which is good because we have a pretty tough draw and the confidence that winning gives you makes a big difference when you play the other decent teams.

The low scoring from both teams was helped quite a bit that neither side could kick the ball to someone on their own team coming off half back. It was a pretty shocking game to watch. Close games are normally entertaining, but this one didn't do much for me.

True, the number of clangers was quite high, unexpectedly high but it was a high pressure game and there were a lot of numbers particularly through the corridor so it made it difficult to hit those uncontested passes that weren't just lateral kicks, when you added the pressure and perceived pressure around the stoppages it made for an unusually high number of turnovers. When you have over 150 tackles and over 300 contested possessions in a game, it's not going to be a free-flowing spectacle of a game.

I think Hawks had about half the clangers we had, but they played a terrible brand of footy on the weekend. Hitting targets doesn't always guarantee you are going to get the job done, you can hit a lot of targets and not get anywhere of note in a hurry.

Take the shitfight somewhere else and let's concentrate on squiggly goodness
Theres one constant though. All it took was for North to have some positive squiggle movement and one muppet wants to troll an entire supporter base
Next week itll be Hawthorn and then the Cats and so on

Final Siren, big ask and very indulgent so apologies first up. Is it possible to see a squiggle for this A-League season. Adelaide's track would be interesting to look at.

It doesn't work that well as the score ratios get out of whack quite quickly leading to explosive squiggle positions.

Right. Aussie Rules is very unusual in that you get a LOT of information from the scores alone. They're higher than any sport that's coming to mind right now, with the exception of cricket, which is full of scoring shenanigans like declarations and one team getting more play time than the other.

I had a look at NFL a while ago, but even then, there's not enough granularity, with scorelines like 20-3. You just can't draw good conclusions from the scoreline. Soccer would be madness.

you want the OP to go through mountains of work for a sport that he probably doesnt care less about just so you can look at something interesting that strokes your ego?

**** the A-league.

No reason to be mad. The squiggle is a place of happiness and inclusiveness.

Yea, believe in the squiggle and you shall find peace.
