James Faulkner has a test bowling average of 16.

Probably could've had a decent run as a Test player if he didn't drink drive around this time (from memory) and get blacklisted as a result. I think history shows he would have probably ended up not being good enough to be a Best XI player for a solid run, but he was a cut above Henriques was when he got his run in the Test team overall and Moises got four Tests.

Faulkner reminds me of a guy who I'm surprised isn't a random Australian Test cricketer with 1 to 5 Tests; Ben Cutting. This guy was in redhot red ball form for a while and I'm surprised he never got even a token cap.

Stuart Law...1 test...1 innings 50 odd not out...always thought he should've played more.
Jo Angel & Chris Matthews....getting smashed around by Viv and his mates.

What was the go with Callum Ferguson. I know the one test he played in and the way in which he got out was an absolute disaster, but surely he deserved at least one more chance to redeem himself?
If I remember correctly he got run out through no fault of his own in one innings, so he only really 'failed' once. The ridiculous thing is he debuted in the same game as Maddinson who hadn't gotten a first class ton in forever before he got selected, and Ferguson got dropped while Maddinson stayed in for a few more Tests (and may have played just the one confident shot in that time) and destroyed his confidence and almost put him into retirement.

Ferguson definitely should have gotten another game if Maddinson got 3.

Yep always thought it seemed harsh. Only thing is though I thought Joe Mennie was the one who debuted with Ferguson, and Maddinson got called up next test to replace Ferguson?

He copped a raw deal only getting the one test and it was on a green seaming deck against a strong South African bowling line up where all the batsmen struggled.

ferguson and maddinson never played together in a test match.

maddinson debuted with renshaw.

Martin Love is an oft forgotten one considering how good he was. And that he scored a test hundred.

He’s definitely not random but I think a lot of people have forgotten about Matthew Elliott’s second incarnation after he moved to SA and got brought back randomly for one of those top end series and failed dismally

Chris Matthews.
A bit like McGain, probably (a bit more surety on Matthews) deserved his call-up but fell to pieces once there, especially the second time. The bulky left-armer did it twice, a few years apart. I was thinking he played just one Test each time, but he played three overall.

This is why I don't have that much sympathy for Brad Hodge. Guys like Jacques and Love also had a case for sour grapes but had the good grace not to take it to the press which is a big reason they don't have the same public profile (although missing out on domestic T20 exposure boom is also a factor).
