I wouldn't mind having a look at Tuck from the Tigers. Big bodied clearance king inside midfield who can be a much better version of McLean.

He could release Judd.

He goes alright when I watch the tigs, but am i listening to KB too much?

I actually don't mind this idea.

But I'd rather a fit and firing Curnow.

I liked the look of Aaron Cornelius.... though he looked fantastic as a natural leading FF.

The Dogs have offered Daniel Cross a one year deal.

Possibly because they have Wallis and Liberatore coming through.

Is Cross too old and slow to play an inside role with Carlton for the next two seasons?

Cross turns 29 in March.

Self-made inside mid full of determination and guts. Deserves a premiership if you ask me. I would be for* acquiring his services.

*Vocally advocate, possibly leading to furious discussion, probably championing the cause.

I wouldn't sneeze at any of them.

I guess our eye for talent differs here.

Cornelius is a fantastic grab.

Mckernan has presence, although has struggled when tied to being second ruck

Walker is a selfish player, but certainly talented

Lisle's ok

For the right deal I would take any of them

The only reason I would be against getting Tuck would be the fact that he'll be 30, and we'll find it hard enough to clear minimum list space.
I'd like to have him in the team, but considering how difficult it's going to be to delist the minimum required players, is he worth a spot?

Tuck and Gumbleton are ones that in an ideal world would work out great for us...

The world can be cruel.
If we somehow were able to send Gumbleton to Germany and made him eat horse placenta and cured him, I wouldn't mind us having a crack!

But basically, McLean has scarred me from trading any players who have constant injury niggles. Unless he came on the cheap? .. which he won't (because he'll most likely head home to WA to play for Freo).

What if we offered a lifetime supply of horse placenta?

Will be hard getting Sarah Jessica Parker preggers so much but it has to be done!

Gold. .. That was written in such a way that all I could imagine is someone like this guy putting out the line. ..

made me LoL. ..

Would take a crack at Gumby in a heartbeat, but you're right - Freo would be all over that too. He will come good before he retires. May only be for one or two seasons but if the stars align those one or two seasons would be at the perfect time for his club.

I agree id also be willing to hav a punt on gumby, i think his body will come right and he will be a gun

Depending what we'd have to give up obviously.
Would Essendon be willing to let him walk to us for next to nothing?

Cause that's all he's worth

I'd suggest that the Dockers would work out a trade there if there was a trade to be had. However, you'd have to look at the possibility of a three-team trade for us.

Perhaps that's a three-way trade with the West Coast. Bower (to WCE) for Gumby (to Carlton) for Swift (to ESS). Each team gives up an injury prone player loaded with potential and receives one back. Each team has an opportunity to improve in an area where they require it.

I'm not suggesting Gumby is as good or has shown as much as Bower but their value on the market would be equivalent.

Gumbleton would never make it to us in the PSD.

Rookie list Michael Coad if he get's the chop from GC?
Yes sir.

On Gumby, I couldn't stand him at Carlton. I just can't take back the things I've said about him. :o

If we are going to try and get an injury prone forward. Instead of trading for gumby we should rookie thorp or hartlett

Going back over old ground....

How true do people reckon the rumours are about Goddard going to GWS.

If about money then we have no hope.

If its also about him being stale at St.Kilda, not getting on with coach etc... do we have a sniff ??

Deciphered your enigma code there C4

If we're just looking at stock-piling top ten draft picks for the sake of it, let's get Gumby.
Sooner spend the time and money into getting Bower right

Shopping list

Ruckman
I've got no doubt we will be after a number of different players this year. Don't be surprised if we have a go at a few ruckmen, like perhaps Hamish Mcintosh who is a proven performer, big body who can take a mark but has been surpassed by a younger ruckman at his club. Had injury problems which is off putting and why he is not playing. Our ruck has been a weak area all year except for the tap out part but lets face it we have got nothing from our ruckmen. We need a ruckman who can play forward and maybe he can and would give us something around the ground.

It would be stupid not to enquire about Cameron Wood who is in and out all the time and Mitch Clarke who is a freak and would be even better in our team. That's if Mitch is interested in playing for a side who could win a premiership.

Strong Centerman
I think we will be looking at a strong centerman although it requires good judgment to get one that can play or will turn out. Mclean has been a failure and Curnow seems to have left the building so to speak. Ellard is a tryer but fails against the better sides who have the bigger bodies in the center. He only gets bye because he kicks the odd goal. Carrazzo, Simpson and Scotland are playing in the wrong position when you see them on the ball, they are good players but are not center square players. Gibbs is not influential on the ball and around the contests (yet if it ever happens).

This leaves Judd, Murphy and sometimes Robinson as our only real quality center players who have a genuine presence around the contests. The others are just plugging holes. Hawthorn exposed our lack of the right type of quality players here.

So who fits the mould that we have a chance of getting? It's hard to say really. Maybe Lucas is being moulded as a 'follower'. Still not nearly strong enough. Ideal scenario would be that we get Morabito but there's no chance of it i would think.

It's a pity Cachia hasn't come on. Might have to go for one with our first national draft pick.

Tall Forward
Getting a tall forward would be high priority as We need someone to go with Waite and take extra pressure off Walker. This has been a weak erea because we are playing two ruckmen, none of whom can take a mark and Waite is out and our lack of depth in the area has been exposed.

Every one has hopes on Mitchell and it would be good to see him make seniors next year. Trade wise we need to start at John Butcher and work our way down. I'm not overly keen on Taylor Walker as he is lazy and one dimensional. Mitch Clarke would be good for us in this area.

I don't think there is a lot getting about that we could trade for who can actually play so it would be wise to try for one in the draft.

Others

Maybe we need to look to the top sides and try and get a player who is not getting a regular game like we did with Laidler. Perhaps a Wellingham from Collingwood although they would be difficult to work with on that. We could also snare someone more senior from a club trying to build a list I suppose.

No to trading for a ruckman. Warnock, Kreuzer and Hampson is plenty. Have a dip at a VFL/SANFL/WAFL/NEAFL/TFL/TLA/WNBA/MBL/EPL ruckman and see if he comes good as cover.

Strong centreman is a good idea, and it is obvious to everyone we need a competent tall target (Waite is fine but we need cover).

For the centres I'd say we should look at tempting Daniel Cross over from the Dogs. They are on the slide, he is a strong consistent performer who is looking for a contract to see his career out (29 next year). Good match IMO. On a younger side Koby Stevens is talented but looks to want out of West Coast (Eagles supporters are shopping him around at least).

Tall forwards the options are drying up. The dream is Sam Reid, young, talented, excellent mark, Victorian. Closer to home Jordan Lisle has been mentioned but I haven't seen much of him to date.

Michael Johnson anyone?? Seems out of favour over here in the west, and I believe he is a strong contender for one of those players that leave freo and become far better players. Can play both ends, and is a decent mark and kick. Thoughts??

I know our ruckmen are young but there is a spot next for a quality one to come in. Until Hamson starts taking marks and kicking goals and Warnock doing anything at all around the ground then there is a big hole waiting to be filled. Kreuzer should fit in well in the midfield when he's fit next year.
