Matt Suckling is currently sitting on 95 games. Can/will he rack up the magic 100 before he chases the gold and leaves the nest? he can't afford to be dropped or get injured in the remaining 3 H&A games plus a minimum of 2 finals (hopefully our worst case scenario).

Those figures are a reminder that our crowds in the 1980's were pretty low, even with all the success.
I mean, Tucky played 427 games to get to top place!

The current players will always be up there.

Great piece of trivia! Thanks for sharing.

I was curious to see which clubs have had good continuity in their on-field playing list during the year. This could also perhaps indicate a lack of depth or simply good luck with injuries. It will be interesting to see if those clubs like Freo (10) and Tigers (12) are fatigued by the end of H&A.

The struggling teams (Blues, Lions, Suns, Bombers) have all used 40 or more different players at some point.

As at the end of Round 20:

Column A = How many players used by the club so far
Column B = How many players have played ALL 19 games
Column C = How many players have missed no more than 1 or 2 games
Column D = B+C

Apropos of nothing in particular... other than showing just how awesome we are!

As at the end of Round 17, 2015 there are 122 players in the whole comp who have hit double figures in the goal-kicking stakes. 63 are from the current top 8.

Here's a summary of the top 8. The full, detailed list is attached.

Club / # Players / Total Goals

Hawks / 10 / 209
Freo / 10 / 160
Eagles / 8 / 196
North / 8 / 161
Dogs / 8 / 135
Rich / 8 / 126
Crows / 6 / 158
$wan$ / 5 / 108

after Round 20 the figures are:

Club / # Players / Total Goals (of the players in dbl figures)
Hawks / 12 / 261
Freo / 11 / 193
Eagles / 8 / 221
North / 9 / 216
Dogs / 10 / 200
Rich / 9 / 161
Crows / 6 / 194
$wan$ / 7 / 159

the Crows are the real outlier here as just 6 players (Betts, walker, jenkins, Cameron, Lynch, Danger) average 32 goals each so shutting down their scoring ability should, in theory, be an easier assignment than covering the 12 Hawks who average out at over 21 goals each.

has anyone got score stats for 1st qtrs for the last couple of seasons? how many times has hawthorn held the lead after the 1st qtr?

Gathered this bit of (useless?) info from the Hawks preview of the game. It has been 525 days since we last played Brisbane (in a proper game). That was Round 1 last year.

Contrast that to playing Carlton twice this year within a 43 day period. o_O

And , we haven't doubled up against Brisbane in the one year since 2008.

EDIT: i also posted this on the Brisbane preview thread where another astute poster, cryptor i think it was, pointed out that we have played both the $wans and the Cats 5 times each since the last time we played Brisbane.

He probably just lifts his work rate when we are losing. Or is played in a more loose role to generate extra run. Port closed him down in the last quarter. Before that he had been best on ground for us in that match.
