So quick question.

Smartbuy/You love coles/Select/Homebrand Vs Traditional brands?

What do you guys like?!

I have heard the Coles tag line, "Why pay extra for basics?" and my answer is, because home brands are shithouse quality and consequently you use twice as much of them.

Ever tried Coles Dental Floss? My advice is - don't.

Home brand stuff is interesting actually, sometimes it's every bit as good as the brand-name stuff, and other times it's a disgusting substitute.

For example, I'd never dream of buying home brand chicken nuggets, or home brand washing detergent, but I'd buy Coles brand water or Coles brand salt.

Basically if it's something you can't really ruin, the home brand stuff is generally good.

Many (but by no means all) of the generic brands are actually the "name" brands with generic packaging. There is literally no difference between them.

Some of them on the other hand are not.. The trick is knowing which are the decent generic products, and which are the complete rubbish.

By trick you mean "Trial and error" right ;)

How's the Government going atm.... Wanting to charge farmers for using their dam water, fining people a minimum of $125 for minor defects on cars....

Preferably by benefiting from someone else's mistakes.

For example, I've never bought them myself, but I'm reliably informed that Aldi's equivalent of the Continental pasta & sauce packets are truly awful and virtually inedible. I will be learning from their mistake!

and making hospital staff pay for parking on hospital grounds.

It's disgraceful. Had to drive to Mt Gambier on the weekend for a wedding, did the right thing and checked out the car beforehand, turns out i had a blown left taillight... $2 to fix, $125 for the cops. Really?

Revenue-raising at its most shameful. The hospital parking one is shameful. The dam water thing is disgraceful. Economic slavery.

That's a joke.

Obviously you got pulled over at night? If it was during the day, on the highway, and you had your lights on by choice, then that's really stiff. They shouldn't ping you for that.
