Yep, sure will. Two of the major SA fires which have been burning for a couple of weeks, have today gotten out of control again. I hear they're sending in crews from Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.

It's very concerning, our area which is currently relatively fire free is currently running on skeleton staff, with over half of our appliances up North. If there's any major fires in the area, getting appropriate number of fire trucks will be an issue.

About 6 towns are still under threat at Bangor & been a level 3 fire all Regions would be sending trucks , volunteers & aircraft

The supposed 33 next Tuesday is now 40 with next Wednesday being 42. Even heading down to Victor to escape it for a few days won't help that much as I will come straight back to it. **** this for a joke and anyone who says Adelaide has got good weather is kidding themselves. Our weather is ****ing atrocious.

It's actually depressing how hot it has/will be.

One because I don't like it to be hot, but two you feel like it's going to be like this every summer now.

I would honestly prefer the cold that North America and Europe got than our heat, at least you can get warm easily.

Ha ha ha I don't know about that. Was in New York City over New Years and that cold goes to your bones.

It was ****ing cold.

I has shoes and socks thermal long johns (top and bottom), jeans, t shirts, jumper, jacket on with a beanie and hoody (at the sane time) with gloves and a scarf on and I was still cold.

But saying that, I'd prefer that than what it's expected to be over the next week.

Agree, that's the scary thing. It's just getting worse.

Plus, we don't have a thing called global warming according to our faithful leaders in Canberra.

I'd say climate change is a better term due to the fact that, whilst we're getting steaming hot summers, the north is getting ridiculously cold winters (I don't think that was a first for them) and I don't hear much about their summers.

They were saying the arctic freeze was a one in a uh dread year cold spell but the East Coast of the states have had a number of massive snow storms over the past few years. Just as we have had massive heat waves over the past couple of years.

The East Coast of the USA get heat like we do. Dry, hot and humid. They can get close to 110 degree (40 ish)

Adelaide has excellent weather, except for the two or three awful heatwave weeks we seem to get every summer.

If you can ride those out we have wonderful weather.

Agree with aiof regarding New York - I've never felt so cold as I did there during one of their winters. Apparently it wasn't even that bad a winter for them (though perhaps that's just what they were saying).

It's the wind that really destroys you there.

Watching Mike and Mike (American panel sports show on ESPN) and they were discussing the weather for the Superbowl.

They were like "If it's around 8 miles an hour and around 20-25 degrees, it'll be fine!") That translates to around -4 degrees Celsius with 13 km/h winds. I'd be freezing my butt off in that!

I struggle at Footy Park when it's 10 degrees Celsius.

Be thankful Alex, imagine if we did have global warming or climate change, we'd be ****ed ;):eek:

we took the kids upto lake mountain (about 2 hours out of melbourne) to do some tobogganing last year. at 10am when we arrived there it was -1 and blowing a 40km/h wind. it was hideous!

being from the barossa, i'm used to -1 or -2 in the mornings when i left for work, it's never that cold with wind though

in saying that, if any of you adelaidians ever want an easy way to get to the snow, head up to lake mountain in july. really nice drive there, and its great for snow play

Yep, this was so true.

When we went down to Washington DC, the temperature was still cold and sitting around the 30 degree mark (Fahrenheit) but there was no rain or wind. When the sun was shinning, it was quite a plenty day. However, back in New York and Boston around the same temperature with the wind - it was bordering on being unbearable.

It's the wind chill that kills you.

They actually report the "wind chill factor" as part of their standard news bulletin because it makes such a dramatic difference.

When I was there it was around -2 celcius but the wind chill made it "effectively" -20 celcius. Absurdly cold.

Nothing helps you to appreciate Adelaide more than trying to make a call on a payphone in a snowstorm. My fingers were so numb that I dropped my quarter, and it sunk into half a metre of snow piled up in the gutter on the side of the road. Then you have to make a choice - do I put my hands, mittens and all, in the snow and root around for the quarter? Or do I take the mittens off and search for the quarter?

Never been so cold in my life.
