Yep absolutely brilliant some great stories there. The Duey Bozella one and Jim Valvano's Wolfpack winning the NCAA tournament against all odds were both absolute corkers!!

I recently watched a doco on a WA-QLD flight that Freddie Flintoff produced about depression in elite sportspeople which is very interesting. He talks about his own battle and the fact Steve Harrmison had depression throughout 10 years of his playing career. He also talks to WC Boxer the Hitman Harding, Soccer great Vinnie Jones and other players/coaches.

It really gives a good insight into the elite sporting world where 1 in 10 people have depression while they are competing. Mental health of athletes is treated like a long term physical injury nowadays, they give the player full rehabilitation. Well worth watching.

Just makes me think how many players and coaches in the AFL are battling it right now?

What was the doco called Sherm?

We should be dollar for dollar matched with the $2 million Melbourne are getting from the AFL. Remember how much sympathy we got from their fans on here in '07.

I'll never forget those months when it looked like we would lose our club. We get a ****ing execution that needed some heroes to save us. They get a cheque!

Oh yeah Davey > Wells clearly.

I thought of Joshen handling the Essendon supporter at his swimming lessons tonight.

We as senior footballers are required to attend one of the junior side's training session at least twice a year. Well, I just got back from the under 12's tonight. The coach thanked the two of us for coming down to help out, and then explained that, although they're currently 3rd on the ladder, they've lost their last two after having some big leads at 3/4 time, to which one of the young blokes yelled out;

Kid 1: "Yeah, we're like North Melbourne", to which another kid chimed in with;

Kid 2: "Yeah, but they're shit"!

After I gave him a cheeky smirk, I thought let's stick him with a bit of friendly punishment. In every subsequent drill, for every dropped mark and/or fumble, or terrible kick. It was 10 push-ups for the little prick.

He was one of their gun footballers, and without fail, he pumped it all out, and trained even harder.

I asked him who he supported at the end of the night.

His answer was North. :oops:

Sounds like it could be the kid of a BF poster.

Punishment led to him working harder???
