I know Dow kicked a goal and dished off a nice pass. But with only 7 possies and a few bad clangers, should he be dropped. I don't think he had much impact. Not sure if that was because he played in the forward pocket.
I would give a game in the 2's to rack up some touches and polish and maybe give Deluca a run. Am I being too harsh on Dow?
Dow could well make way for Cripps or Cuningham but it could be the best thing for him to be given a four week block in the VFL to work on a few specific areas. It sure worked a treat for Weitering last year. Our VFL team needs to be looked at as a development academy not a death sentence.

Lots of baggers have glowed over Murph's goal and rightly so. It was artful the way he sold candy and measured the banana.
But look at Fish's awareness with the tap and have a real good look at Levi, the ruck beast, swatting the Freons off, clearing his arms and getting the handball out. Cripps would have been proud of that effort.

levi's was a left-handed handpass as well..........schmick.........

Depends how you want to look at it positive or negative...I just watched the replay and he came crawling out from under packs countless times, very gutsy for an 18 year old I thought his game yesterday wasn’t woeful yeh his DE wasn’t the best but he made a contribution to the win, it was an all round team effort

Maybe he missed his mate Crippa

His disposal was off yesterday. He still ran 16km had 24 pressure acts, collected 30 touches and laid 8 tackles in a slippery high pressure away game to a top 8 team.

The kid is a marvel.

I know I know ! :thumbsu:

A left handed match winning handpass and a left footed delicate chiseler all in one game for Levi. I want what he's been drinking...
you'll need to be handcuffed to a boat first - even then you'll need a bigger boat.........

Just my opinion BB but as far as JSOS it's safe to say that he'll never be he's father, imo probably in the top 5 Carlton players I've watched live/tv throughout my lifetime from a kid from the age of seven to currently now which has been 43 yrs. I've only seen footage of Serge so i can't comment too much on the comparison but from the footage i have seen my impression is his grandfather was a much harder quicker nimble player as a ruck rover/ midfielder, to me Jack only lacks in the being quicker/nimble department but is a much more polished player than his grandpa was...
Sorry for the tardy reply FBB. Work and life...ya know..??

In my memory Serge was never 'nimble' or very quick, he was what would today be described as an inside bull. He was an extractor and tackler, but good enough to wear the Big V, Captain the Blues and win one or two B&F's. I'm almost 60, so I only saw Serge at the end of his career. I have watched a lot of old replays though.

From Blueseum bio

"A one-pace performer, he ran and worked as hard in the last minute of the game as he had in the first. He was a superb team player and a strong, safe mark; when Serge took front position or swooped on the ball at ground level, only a Mack truck could shift him. He wasn't quick, but he read the play superbly and revelled in the fiercest contest. "

Sounds a bit like Jack to me

Not quite me Robbo.. unfortunately...
Grab a tape of the 70 grand final, watch the 3rd quater, it wasn't really handball that won it for us it was Silvagni and Crosswell who got nearly all the clearances.

I don't get why he can't work on his flaws at training and in games where he continues to improve week after week - his brainfart yesterday was ugly but

Well...he can.

But if on the weekend he's playing 70% of his gametime in a forward pocket then he's not getting much of an opportunity to execute his skills within the context of a game.

A few weeks playing on-ball in the VFL takes a bit of pressure off, gives him the chance to work on his stoppage craft and disposal, and also allows us to bring in someone more specialised to the forward line (ie. Cuningham)

Ahh screw it.. I'm watching the replay again.
you know this sort of relapse will eventually be the end of you - if you need help just reach out - here for you...........just say no to what aph is peddling.....

whatever......

Hmm I reckon he over thinks, he seems an intense type
Yep, I reckon he has set very high expectations for himself and just wants to contribute and succeed with a passion. He has the smarts and the talent. He shows class more often than he mucks up. He seems a very driven young fella. I am damn sure he will get consistency and that class will shine. He is a WIP and we can't blame him for being impatient. I expect Russell will get his Chi flowing and it will all come together.
