Setterfield was spoken about as having zero impact in the VFL, the guy was dropped for not showing enough, goes down to the twos and manages 11 disposals or something close.

The guy from Blueabroad who did the review was at a loss, over his lack of interest, desire and work rate, in the VFL.

You don’t reward that, if anything, you would drop him from the 2nds.
I listened to the commentary all game on Casey radio and they were under the impression he had a tagging job after half time.

Stocker MUST Play. Would like to see Owies as well, though that doesn't seem likely.

Williamson out. Offers nothing at the moment. Betts could be managed. Preferably I would just stick with Murphy as the default medical sub.

Push SPS up the ground. And if Williams doesn't increase his workload on the inside, then best to stick with him at HB until we have more rebound defenders to choose from.

This. There’s 100% a correlation between JSOS being in the side and is performing better.

Soooo...imagine 18 players (many of whom are more skilled than JSOS) playing with his intensity. We'd be unbeatable!!!!!

JSOS has the intrinsic motivation because he bleeds Navy Blue

We have the cattle to be a top 8...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!!!

The issue is around our mindset...Teague can't even provide the extrinsic motivation to succeed...like, "if you bust your guts for the jumper and play your role, you stay in the team; if you don't, you'll have an extended break in the ressies...and if you sook it up in the ressies, piss off, we don't want you at the club"

This part of the Liam Stocker player evaluation has me concerned they won’t play him this week:

“As a defender, we want to see him really have a hard-nosed, defensive approach and that is something we’ve reviewed and talked through him with, particularly at a higher ball, the decision-making process, ‘does he fly or stay down and defend his man?’ They were just some things that we looked at with him.”

Sounds like reasoning for non-selection?

The MC doesn’t seem to apply the same standards to those in the team currently, so I hope it doesn’t keep him out.

That’s the right attitude to take re Stocker, patience he’ll be a player but he must be allowed time to realize potential. The back line is a perfect spot with intervals sin the engine room.
Liam ‘s 39 kicks in the 2nds came mainly from floating & intercept work in defense, has a nice leg on him so that’s fine.
He can do the brilliant extract & dashing out of the middle too, but he needs mentoring and more athleticism, the brilliance were expecting it will come.
Maybe he can show SPS how you are supposed to kick the ball out of defence

"I'll support when they're better."

Fairweather.

You don’t know how religiously someone has supported the club so this is an unfair comment.

I’m 29 and haven’t seen a premiership (was too young to remember 95). I’ve gone through entirety of my life with this club being crap. Ive paid my membership every year. I’ve attended every game (a lot interstate too). And I’ve never once left a game early, ever. I remember sitting there in 2004 at Telstra Dome when Saints kicked 198 points against us and I stayed until the final siren because that’s what you should do. The bad times make the good time seven sweeter.

16 years later with a good list (on paper) and I’m still waiting. Enough is enough. I didn’t go last week and I won’t go again this week. I’m sick of being so heavily invested in a club and getting no enjoyment in return. I will start parting ways with my hard/earned $ again when they show me it’s actually going somewhere. Until then, why should I continue to bother.

I simply don’t care how this makes me look - I’ve been more than loyal.

I didn’t see the game, just going off the review and his numbers. The fact a kid picked 4 or 5 in the draft 4 years ago, is supposed to be an inside, ball hunting mid, has been played out of position in the 1s and then is dropped to the 2s and is given a tagging role, where he barely touches the ball is a big worry in itself.

I really worry for him and Dow, they have no confidence, they are slipping backwards fast, then we have LOB that still seems to be doing his best despite being shown by the coaches they don’t rate him, at least he looks like he is having a crack.

Pretty much bagging us and saying we have gifted games to younger players in the past which is probably right but I just find his comments a little disturbing considering he was there for those years.I don’t know just dosent sit right.

I am struggling to see this fascination with Williamson.

Yes, he can look to be a genuine 'one on one' competitor and also be a superb disposal of the ball by left foot. But rarely have I seen any attacking flair from him in these past couple of years. Has not proven to be a score chain creating specialist like Docherty has in the past. Hasn't broken lines, driven wedges through the opponents' structure and even threaten to hit the scoreboard like Nic Newman has.

I feel Willo plays it too safe and holds himself back from having a real impact on the result. He fears to look inward more often than he does and depends excessively on ineffective passes left and right to defensive teammates.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love for him to succeed and further prove we got him at the bargain price. But it is obvious he can offer so much more and leave opponents needing to shift more attention towards him at times.

Fear - sounds like any kid we bring in, play with a bit of freedom their first year and then.......bang, they don't and play through fear

Convinced we turn Willow into a run with player. He’s not poised enough to be a playmaker but has some grunt and a good tank. Suspect this to be Ed's last year. We’ll need a replacement.

On the list? No.

In the main line up? Perhaps. We do need to move on from him. It is just a matter of who can match his work rate whilst also being able to think quicker with ball in hand. So far, no one is proving to be that player. Perhaps Stocker, but his endurance and ability to run both ways remains an unknown. I was hoping Kemp could be the one. Just hope luck can fall his way and we can truly see what he brings.

After last week I vowed I wouldn’t front up again this week but a mate I haven’t seen in years ended up grabbing me a ticket as he wants to catch up.

Don’t think I can handle another insipid performance; the thought of watching Murph duck every contest that comes his way, and the Lions midfield carve through us while their direct opponents jog 20 yards behind them.

I’m hoping all the media and fan pressure dares the match committee to be bold but I’m not holding my breath.

JSOS will always be best 22.....perhaps not elite speed or leap ....................
just works hard...........unmistakable dedication
through shear drive will improve......to being pretty good :thumbsu:

Ye Dow maybe should not be 22 and not be wasting clubs energy.....he has time :thumbsu:

Port were tough and are a tough physical team,Lions will also serve us up their best performance
so what ?
how do we defeat a pretty deep listed team, who are tough and even were also tough when losing
i dont like playing the lions because they are an honest hard working outfit who show up sloppy effort usually by a physical effort

they have better forwards a better midfield and also a good defense

i can see a closer game here say 20 pts...but not a win...which is fair enough ??

See you at the North game

Geez the North game? They usually give us a flogging the last few years and we showed last year we are no good against cellar dwellers (crows).

I'm away this weekend and the next home game is the Hawks game. Fair chance we'll have our new caravan by the and will go away. Next home game after that is eagles on queen's birthday weekend, I'll be away. Maybe the Adelaide game.

Are you the sort who goes to every game as if you don't have anything else in your life going on? Again, nuffy-esque

We're a big chance this week. We match up well and Ed normally stops Neal, who is huge barometer for them. Problem is not this week or next but the following 10+ weeks. We just refuse to do what is required to be a successful team and until they start showing up week after week, we will keep having the same conversations.

We improve once finals are off the radar and the media stops talking about us (because we become irrelevant for the season)

Just to clarify.
I’m not saying I don’t want him in the team.
If you look at my post history you’ll see that’s definitely not the case.
I’ve been advocating for Stocker to play for ever.
I was saying that perhaps the coaches are laying the groundwork for reasons NOT to pick him despite the VFL form.
I honestly hope that’s not the case.

That's exactly what it looks like OTF and I felt I would not add my thoughts, which would not have been complementary towards our coaches. NFI.
