Preview will wait until the round is finished and we can see what's at stake for both Blues and GWS. For now just this... our second quarter in round 14 was what kick started our unbeaten run. Our second quarter in round 23 has saved our streak and put us into the finals. And in all of recorded history we are unbeaten against the Giants when we win the second quarter.

Well, what a weekend of footy!

Crows were murdered by an inexcusable shocker. There is no way to rectify the situation but the AFL must ensure that can never happen again. It's not that hard - they don't even need to review every score, just those where the ball comes close to the line, the post, or a player. Anyhow, enough about that.

This game is not a must win, and by the time the ball is bounced it may be the ultimate dead rubber where we will still play GWS two weeks later in Melbourne, no matter the result.

I think as it stands a home final is highly probable, and our opponent could be any one of GWS, Bulldogs, Saints or Swans depending on other results.

Make no mistake, the Blues will want to win this. You don't flirt with form in late August. But we do have the relative luxury of managing sore players and trying out tactical ideas.

How banged up is Crippa? It does seem like a rest would do him some good. Are there any others who would benefit from a freshen up? Doc perhaps. Cincotta also looked tired on Saturday.

It seems there are plenty to come in. Cerra and Walsh surely come in for a gallop, perhaps one of them as the sub if they are still not 100%. Kennedy, McGovern, JSOS and Boyd should be under consideration. I would love to see Binns make his debut - he's earned it and you never know if we might not need him in September, let's see what he's got on the main stage.

A lot has changed for both clubs since we last played the Giants. Both have assembled impressive, consistent, winning form. And with that comes confidence. If we do play them two weeks later it should be a cracker, with the winner a real chance to go deep into the finals.

But this one is more likely to be an open, bruise-free encounter which may well turn into a shootout. It will not resemble finals footy in the least.

The most important result to come out of this game will be the injury report afterwards - let's pray it is completely blank.

Blues by 15 points to keep the streak going into September, just like we did in '95.

Changes will be interesting this week and could change considerably with other results and whether we are still a chance for top 4

Tough calls will need to be made unfortunately, but many variations

GOV for Kemp or Marchbank, flip a coin

Walsh for Hollands

Cerra for Dow

Personally I would rest Cripps and give Dow another game

Fog, Boyd, Jsos, Kennedy still in the mix

Very tough calls.
Cripps has to be rested. Think Cunners is on the cusp. Ed Curnow, thanks for your service. They might prefer Marchy over Kemp.
In: Cerra, Fog, Walsh, Gov

Kemp deserves his spot over Marchbank.
We need to continue to invest in him, Marchbank has been average on return.
Agree on Cripps.

Depending on how results go

Out - Cripps (rest), Docherty (rest) Cincotta, Cunners and Ed

In - Cerra, Walsh, McGovern and Kennedy*

OUT: Pittonet, Cuningham (rest), Marchbank, Hollands, Fisher
IN: Silvagni, Fogarty, McGovern, Walsh, Cerra

Give Dow a look in this setup with Walsh playing more outside. If it doesn't gel, swap him out for Cuningham in the first final.

Big test for Cottrell, who I'm not sure will stand up to finals pressure in terms of his passing. Bare minimum we need to treat this as a dress rehearsal, but tonight will inform us if we're playing for a slim chance of top 4 or a home final as well.
