Yeah, we're not shortb of defensive talls, and our kryptonite - good small forwards, do not play for Carlton other than the 2 games a year Motlop plays well.

I think we'll be at a disadvantage in centre clearances and d50 stoppage but everywhere else we have the tools.
I'm sure this will surprise you but we're 4th in the comp for scores from stoppage differential. We basically break even on clearances overall (just barely negative differential), but score well from the ones we do win. Releasing it to Smith, Holmes, Dempsey, Mannagh and Miers helps. We will miss Gryan today.

Carlton are 3rd for scores from stoppage differential, so it is also a strength of theirs. And I doubt that surprises you.

I was quite bullish v Crows and Hawks but am not feeling the same way today.

At 2-4, Carlton are essentially playing for their season and we're coming off a finals-like game and a six day break. We've seen the impact a short break can have in the last quarter fade-outs of Crows (v us) and Lions (v Pies).

I still think we're a midfielder or two short when it comes to facing the deeper midfields - maybe we can combat that with more time in the middle for Danger, or maybe Jhye inches towards that breakout game.

Carlton won the clearances and centre clearances in their losses v Hawks, Dogs and Pies so even when they're down, they aren't struggling for opportunities.

I think our best shot is to get them on the slingshot which is how we beat them early last season, but Miers is a significant out in that sense. We will need all of Dempsey, Mannagh, Stengle and Close to be up and about.

A win here would be enormous so fingers crossed we can find a way.

Any worries over the the status of Smith and Stengle? Both left the track during the captain's run. Stengle looked to be having his hip worked on by the trainer's on the ground at one point
Just me then 😂

Little OF for this GD...

But

Wathcing the replay of Easter Monday with about 12 mins to go in 2nd 1/4 Blitz takes off running when the Hawks clear D f50 by hand.
Ths bloke is 198 cms and does his best Usain Bolt to not only chase but also use the best angle to get over ( meaning more distance) and effect the kick into F 50 which we then are able to contest. Blitz makes up easy 5-7 meters.

Dont care what he's asking for ( 1-2 years) pay the guy.

He's 198, 34 years old and still running like that... oh and can play ruck, defender, wing, Mid and forward.

Give him 2 years. Bloke has earned it.

And for relevance, will give Harry McKay an absolute spanking if he plays on him bc Mckay aint chasing him down at all.

Go Catters
The club will want him to get to 300 to join that club

It’ll happen

Yeah, I've been told similar stats before, but it just feels wrong. Like it shouldn't be true

Prior to the start of today's game, Carlton is the only team to have lead at half time of every match they've played this season

That says they'll be fast starters, but not necessarily strong finishes

Second debut for today?

🤔

I doubt this is the game you would debut Stevens in. But then again I wouldn't play Duncan at the big mcg either so I'm not sure. They've obviously decided Ted needs a full game in the 2s and someone must be in doubt (Stanley maybe?) If they've held 2 over.

Hey fellow Catters. Got 2 tickets - free - for the game today. I've had to cancel for family reasons.

Good seats - Section M28 - Row Z, seats 23,24

PM me if interested - EDIT - Taken by a fellow Cats fan... GO CATS!
