Red cards in AFL?

I don't think you understand what I'm saying.

If there was a red card rule, players would be more careful. May would have thought twice before jumping into Stef's head.

Have you ever played? May knows he'll get a month but he still did it? Why? Cause sh1t happens in the heat of battle.

Making umpires judge and executioner is a disaster waiting to happen.

Really? I suppose that's why soccer doesn't have the red card rule oh wait

Was that hit really bad? left the ground which we hurt him but it was just a decent front on bump?
He left the ground, eyes only for the player. I'm all for a red card/sin bin rule being brought in for cases like this. Both very important players- one goes off to the hospital for the second half and the other goes back to his post. Doesn't seem entirely fair to me.

Thanks for acknowledging Hall v Staker despite being a Sydney fan
Also Vickery v Cox

I don't think you'll find any Sydney fan who doesn't think the Hall / Staker incident was a disgusting act of epic proportions.

Anything that gives the umpire more power to f*** with the game is an easy NO from me. And honestly, how many hits this year so far would have been red card worthy? Would be far too many incorrect red cards given for the very few that would be worthy.

When a player deliberately takes out an opposition player in a final , the rule will finalLY change .

This.

Same with anything else - e.g only once video review stuffs up a critical decision in a final will they finally invest in some decent technology and sort out the process.

we should redesign the ball to a rounder shape, remove the ability to dispose and possess the ball with your hands. Also, get rod of the points and make it just goals. We should make goals just one point too. Let's have a designated player who can guard these, colloquially termed, "the goalie".

Make out of bounds the last touch, and let them throw the ball in. Also let's make the pitch smaller, and rectangular shaped.

Eliminate tackling the man, and make the contest for the ball only. Bugger the bounce, just let one team have the ball and call it "the kick-off".

I suppose you're getting my point by now.

No, tell me again.

Jesus, the game can change/advance without it becoming soccer. It's a fair discussion point, given the lions are short one of their best players in a role that's hard to fill with the other 21.

I dont mind the idea as long as it was handled by the video review guy. Only for acts such as this one where you just know he is going to get at least a months suspension.

That or change how 4+ week suspensions are handed out. So for a 4 week suspension you miss 3 weeks, then you miss your final game the next time you meet the team you offended against.

Edit: I just saw the hit. It was a good hit. He'll get a few weeks for it and that's punishment enough. Send off rule is just stupid and it must definitely is stupid in this case
JFC. He could have ended his career. Don't let the 1980s style ignorance over concussion get you all misty eyed about the past. Just have a chat to Greg Williams. That was nothing more and nothing less than a dog hit by Steven May, the equivalent of a king hit on the footy field. Reminds me of Michael Long c.2000 and Luke Hodge a few times last year.

I like that sentiment. Often there is zero repurcussion for an offending player in relation to the team he offended. Making them also miss the next game v the opponent they got suspended against might change things up a bit. Imagine missing 3 games out of a suspension you copped against a team in round 18 only to meet them in the grand final and miss out on playing in it

i am not really in favour of a card system but for those people who say we have never had it so don't change it now you can't be serious!!!
the game has changed so much it is not recognisable so what's the problem with another change?
You can bet they are currently working on 3 rule changes for next year as we speak.
