I hope he can do it... would be a good example for others.

KFC? Yuck! Eating 6 week old chicks that are chemically induced to grow so they can kill and deep fry them is not my idea of food.

A question, are there any vegetarian AFL footballers?

I hope they dont have KFC there. If he can fully commit to AFL he would be like new recruit, otherwise he's gone.

Fired chicken in the South? Hell yeah! Wrong side of the country for some "original" Kentucky fried chicken, but if Coxy wants to eat like a pig on fried chicken, the US is the place to be!

Something tells me he'll be gently advised not to eat the fried stuff though. ;)

An image of Nichole Kidman should do the trick.

Players like Cox are going to have to start standing up if we are to be a legitimate threat next year. Cox has the talent to make a huge impression and this is much better news than hearing he has been delisted.

Its amazing that a professional athlete can get so big in the environment theyre in. They are surrounded by best of the best, in terms of coaching/staff/mentors, facilities, they train flat out and should just be motivated to stay fit just by their surroundings.

Im not holding out hope

Last year he was set for a big preseason, started in the seniors gradually got fatter and played worse got dropped

This year even if he is fit, he will still be soft and picks and chooses when to go.

Maybe if he doesnt play across Half back but i cant see any other position he will steal ahead of someone else

I've been thinking for a while that Coxy might be better off up forward, as his gamestyle just doesn't seemed suited to playing a half back role in the AFL.

He has some evasive skill, he can take a mark, and his kicking is actually quite good, but his defensive skills and his intensity let him down big time last year.

We are placing a lot of faith in Dawes being our next "big thing" up forward, maybe we should switch Cox from half back to half forward, in a reverse styling of what we have done for Ben Reid.

Just can't see Cox making it at half back with the players we have in that position, including some depth.

He still needs defensive skills and intensity to get a game up forward.

If he doesn't have them, he doesn't get an AFL game.

bingo

He isnt defensive ever which makes half back totally stupid, he is also poor one on one ANZAC for example he was out marked but Lovett-murray and Monfries he has size on both

His intensity is what kills him for every other position, he just doesnt look interested out there and usually thats ok but when you dont look interested, your soft, you make dumb decisions, stupid skill errors, and pick and choose when you go at the ball. It makes a very hard pill too swallow

He's still on the list, so there's always hope for him, Opti. If he can get his skinfolds down he could be a permanent fixture in the side next year. He's best suited across half back where he can run off and create but like you said needs to improve his defensive side of the game. At the moment he's borderline, behind Goldsack.

good to hear, shows he's interested in making it, not sure i got that impression before. whether he's lazy or not, some guys just have shocking genes. a lot of the indigenous guys in the afl have a similar issue. i know clubs have specific off-season training programs for guys who naturally put on weight easily. i suppose it can make it tougher when you have a natural deposition towards putting on weight, and are not the hardest worker as well, you can get a bit of situation as with we've seen with cox's body. but yeah, pleasing to here he's going early, shows he's at least willing to have a decent crack, not just wing it for another year. all we can ask really,

I was going to mention that earlier aswell, but didnt know how people would take it. Alot of these indigenous guys struggle with their weight for some reason?? In recent years i remember Dean Rioli at Essendon was bigger than Dew and Stevens and struggled to move.
