Carlton looking good. About time lol

Since 2013 when they last made finals (courtesy of Essendon being DQ’d) :

2014 - 13th
2015 - 18th
2016 - 14th
2017 - 16th
2018 - 18th
2019 - 16th
2020 - 11th
2021 - 13th

That’s 7 bottom six finishes in an 8 year period with two spoons, two other bottom 3 finishes and a high point of 11th in 2020

So yes, it’s about time that with all the access they’ve had to the pointy end of the draft they finally look competitive

I do agree they are looking good though

I'm really warming to the idea of poaching English. Post-Naitanui, a mediocre ruckman who racks up possessions like an extra midfielder might be more useful than a great tap ruckman who's just palming pearls down to swine.

Carlton are running the Dogs ragged with the spread and one touch skills ..

They just keep moving the ball forward at all costs, no going back behind the mark to take a kick. Turn and play on

Doesn’t always pay off but is keeping the bulldogs on the back foot having to rush back in defence all the time

Fyfe's back is rooted and looks set for a stint on the sidelines.
All those years of bash and crash are catching up with him
Fyfe was taken the year after Shuey in the draft, he is no spring chicken. We're used to good players going on to their mid 30s, but that doesn't mean there won't be others that hit issues by 30. Maybe we've seen the best of him and Shuey.

I`m expecting the Blues to tire and Dogs to claw back ..

The Bulldogs really are fads with their gameplan. Got a leg up on the back of creative handballing and biased umpiring in 2016, then fell to the pack. An attacking gameplan with creative handballing got them to a GF in 2021 (aided by some dodgy umpiring in their close win against Brissy) but now they look to be dropping back again. Their 2016 Flag was ahead of time, but they now have a pretty talented list and should be doing better. Take away Bevo's flag and his lack of top 4 finishes are really looking pretty ordinary.

KPP depth s their Achilles heel

Outside of Naughton there isn’t much of note and they can get exposed defensively for a lack of height - especially when their midfield isn’t dominating

Bont used to be so overrated, or so I thought. In awe of him the past couple of years. More so when I was just cruising the AFL app and saw the distance he ran each game. Amazing he can do winger KMs, win the ball inside, tackle, push forward, take huge marks and still have energy to kick truly.

You're 100% spot on, he was a good player but they went on about him like he was the next Judd in his first few years. His last 3 have been excellent and worthy if the hype.
