I'm pretty sure last year when the Eagles kicked a goal in the Grand Final they showed the same 'Goal' video on the big screens that they do at Optus Stadium?
Maybe it's just whomever is the 'Home' team, which Richmond were as they finished higher.

That makes it a different kind of incompetent.

"So we acknowledge you should be hosting the game, but hey we can play a graphic every time you score a goal to make you feel better?"

VFL dont care. If the shoe was on the other foot we’d hear about it pretty quickly.

One thing that can be done immediately is GWS/Syd, GC/BL, PA/ADE WC/CB should all play derbies as the second last or last round of the season to minimise late season travel.

We played a final round derby in 2003. Fremantle won a cracking game by 14 points and Daniel Kerr kicked goal of the year. The win elevated freo to 5th and earned them a home final against Essendon whilst we dropped to 7th and had to travel to Adelaide (we’d have finished 4th if we won, **** Fremantle)

Both sides comfortably lost their respective elimination finals and cited the toll of a bruising derby as a factor. There hasn’t been a final round derby since as I believe both clubs are against it

With the prefinals bye now seemingly locked in it may be time to revisit this

There's random Tigers fans reading through this thread it seems. Just why?

THey think we are salty because we lost or something, but in fact we are criticizing the flagrant positive bias the VFL has towards the large VFL clubs. Its an interstate thing, they will never get it living in Vic bubble.

The sad thing is I have a best mate who is a Collingwood fan who always states the big teams get the MCG games because it makes the most money for the league. That's the way it should always be. It's where the game was created ya da ya da.

As a sports fan I could not care less about the financial benefits I want a fair league every year.

Kochy says it right “We’ve got to be vigilant because the Victorians can get really cocky about this stuff, that’s it’s the home of football. It is not the home of football, it is a national sport that is right the way around the country.”

Let's not just be vigilant let's actually challenge every decision coming out of the AFL because their decisions reek of Vic Bias.

Fremantle Supporters:

'We don't want Sumich, he sounds like he has a brain injury and doesn't talk good.'

Also Fremantle Supporters:

'I love how JL speaks to the public, you can tell that he's a good country boy that doesn't talk good like those flashy emptyheaded city blokes. It's so cute and endearing how he stumbles over his words <3 <3 <3 4eva Justy.'

Fremantle Supporters:
"Those West Coast fans are all a bunch chardonnay-swilling, rich old nannas with knitting!"

Also Fremantle Supporters:
"Those West Coast fans are all a bunch of dumb, booing thugs spending their Centrelink payments on Hungry Jacks!"

Hahahah we could do this all day.

Yep I remember there was huge uproar. I agree that now is the time to revisit.

2003 was another 'what-if' season. We were flying early on, entrenched in the top 4 then got flogged at AAMI by Port Adelaide and picked up a few injuries which hampered our run into September. We had the wood over Brisbane in that period, it would've been interesting to see how we would've gone against them in a final.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but Daniher being worth 2 top 10 picks is a little rich.

Perennially injured big man with what looks like a serious injury he has struggled to overcome in 2 years would be worth a 2nd rounder IMO. Sure the potential is there but if I was a Sydney list manager offering up that sort of currency I would want more of sure thing in return.

He body looks as awkward AF when he is on the park!

Looks like Ablett is playing on in 2020

and Taylor. Oh boy wonder if they will learn anything from this year...judging by how they are handling the Kelly loss I say no.
He will play from round 1 in awesome form and by the bye will be tiring (read belting blokes) and finish the second half of the season looking like he is already retired.

They are kidding themselves. This is how you wreck a list and end up missing finals for 5 years (see Freo, st Kilda, Melbourne, Carlton).

You need to balance veterans with youth. They have enough vets forward and in the middle to get rid of Ablett, as well as a really strong defence so don't need Taylor.

The Hogan trade is a better indicator for value IMO

Injury prone forward but is talented

What youth do they actually have, though?

Clark is obviously going to be a star and Esava (sp?) plays some good games, including the semi against us. Constable could be solid. Apart from that I don't know any off the top of my head.

Miers looks a lively type and had a good year
Parfitt and Narkle look promising
Jack Henry played a lot of games for them this season

So something to work with, just not a lot

Not to quite the same extent as Freo did but with a couple of injuries to key personnel I can see Geelong 2019/20 doing a Fremantle 2015/16

Clear clubhouse leader halfway through the season before tapering off on the back 9 although still holding onto top spot. Bundled out in a prelim

Then Owen paid a visit the following year

Sydney love injury-prone KPFs though. Reid, Tippett, Franklin. We should trade them Vardy, would probably be worth a second round pick in their eyes.

The eighteen AFL clubs meeting with AFL on Monday .....AFL want a second trade period between the JLT series and round 1 of the premiership season and the clubs to confirm if they accept .
First and second year players and Cat B rookies cannot be traded but all other players can be , empowered to trade players , draft picks and future draft picks under the most likely model .

Fogarty will be good too IMO. They have a bit of young good talent, it’s just that they’re all about the same age

Not sure about that but what I do know is there was a distinct difference in the neutrality of the ground in the 15 and 18 grand finals.
In 15 we were subjected to Herald sun ads on all the digital perimeter signs stating "We are for Victoria and Victorian football", The Hawks banner didn't hide the obvious "our ground our rules". The half time highlights were all Hawks goals, I know we only had a couple at half time but they could of showed one, the Hawks sub was announced with great fanfare and they didn't bother when Rosa came on.
Last year we didn't have to put up with any of that crap, whether that was by design or because the Pies didn't push it I don't know but it felt less like we were intruders.

This was after the Qualifying Final, imagine how he felt after the Grand Final
