Sandilands’ shock AFL return pitch

Fremantle ruck giant Aaron Sandilands was reportedly close to joining Essendon for next season in a shock recruiting move.

Sandilands wanted a 2 year deal to move across to Essendon.

I get it's a big move for him as he's settled in Perth, but he's soon to be 37 and played 32 games over the last 4 seasons. Essendon aren't known for their due diligence but even they would be dumb to do that.

The do have a great anti aging process

They must think they are challenging in 2020 with their list which is why they want a mature age back up to Bellchambers.

I don't seem them having the cattle to be a contender next year though personally.

Woosha always performs best when there are no expectations on him (refer to 2011 and 2016 seasons). I can see them making finals again. If they didn't have such a bad start to their year in 2019, they could have earned a home final.

Maybe a fully fit D Smith will help but that is about it.

Hooker and Hurley are getting old, Hurley I've never rated as high as some anyway.

I watched him get tossed aside by James Worpel in late 2018 which cost Essendon the game and their finals hopes. Worpel was a first year player. A well built first year player, but not a 10 year KPD veteran like Hurley is.

Wasn't yours created specifically by the AFL to curb our success in the 90s? Imagine supporting a club who's mission statement is "dont be successful, make sure the other West Aussie team is sh*t".
