Prime accumulator/endurance beast Andrew Gaff, the super sub. Woosha really had NFI what he was doing with the sub. Not that anyone really did.

Gaff was a skinny rookie, endurance beast or not playing him as a sub to give him a taste of AFL was the smart way to do it.

Happy that we could pad Gaff's game tally though. I think he's our most likely bet to hit 300, maybe Darling.

Again from memory, I think gaff had a great first year
And think whoosh was protecting him, playing him as sub cause of his size/ age

This maybe unpopular here, but I thought maginnity was a great super sub
Generally came in mid 3rd or last and had impact

From memory, Gaff being the sub so much in his first year was where the rumours of Gaff leaving first started...

Those rumours are annual. Used to be whispers about Shuey years back too, but he was always convincing in his declaration of love for the club. Gaff isn't as convincing as he's really monotone, used to sound unsure of himself with the umm and ahhs and basically sounds like he's about to fall asleep.

Think our record with keeping interstate players is pretty good to be honest. Who was the last player to leave for homesickness reasons post-Judd apart from Brad Ebert? Since then we've attracted a fair few players from WA back home, and retained Hurn, Shuey, Gaff etc.

Scott Selwood and Koby Stevens? Not sure if it was due to home sickness issues though

Think both were looking for more opportunity and them being Victorian was incidental.

I forgot about Scott Lycett though.

Our retention record has been excellent. Compare us to Adelaide, night & day.

I recall the bombres were heavily into gaff when he 1st got drafted and there was a few stories in the papers at the time. Needless to say he dodged a bullet staying with West Coast after his initial contract.

Yeah I’ve heard that had Gold Coast not come into the comp at that time and got all their draft concessions, we would have taken Swallow at 1 and Essendon would have been keen on Gaff over Heppell at 4.

Harley Bennell was a close number 2 wasn't he?

Imagine if we ended up with say Bennell, Patrick Karnezis and Daniel Gorringe instead of Gaff, Darling and Lycett from the 2010 draft.

I legit thought your post read needles not needless.

Is David Swallow a chance to come home to finish off his career?

As one of the few senior players at the Suns, I suspect he'd be taking a hefty paycut if he went to any other team.

I wouldn't be so sure about Hurn.......looks like he will be moving.
