According to the shop owner, stack asked ‘for one of his famous kebabs.’ His eftpos didn’t work. So transferred the money. The two kebabs were ruined in the scuffle. So the tigers pair ordered two more post the fight

He really wanted a kebab haha

Stack may have got his kebab in the end, but he ensured he left Richmond eating a bag of dicks for his trouble.

I think it is a bit unreasonable to expect Sydney to be the greatest upstanding citizen given everything we know he has already been through.

He is a guy who needs a strong structure around him with mentors, etc.

It's clear to see from this year that Richmond's culture is not all it's cracked up to be.

He royally f’ed up on this one, and also during the COViD break when he came back unfit, hence why he has hardly played. And he has made a dumb series of moves this year.

He isn't playing much in the seniors, there is no seconds comp, just a kick and giggle scrimmage.

This kind of year was always going to be hardest on the folks like Sydney who require a lot of guidance and structure in their lives.

I still think we missed out on him, even if we used a rookie pick on him.
Hahaha unreasonable to expect someone to pull their finger out and do their cruisey job whilst following BASIC rules. Nah had a tough life - can punch on outside a kebab shop but not his fault as he obviously needs a 24/7 minder and 'structure'.

Plenty of people with worse histories than Sydney - some are actually making an effort to better their situation and taking their opportunities.

Glad we passed on him - good risk assessment by our recruiters. Apparently had 'bad influences' in Perth - seems he knows just where to find them wherever he is... or the reality may be that he is the bad influence.

You've completely missed my point.

AFL should throw the book at both of them. Suspend them for the rest of the season, and the Tigers should pass on the 100K fine that they are going to receive.

That is fair and warranted.

There are posters saying this confirms that Stack was a risk not worth taking.

I don't think that's true.

The guys messed up badly, but he is far from irredeemable.

Just on RTB and Freo.

Surely Longmuir would have to be in the running to be coach of the year. Between he and Dew.

Both have taken their teams deep into September - for first time, or in Longys case a long time.

Nothing like a pandemic to cause the unachievable:)

Annastacia Palassze.. Annastacia Palasz... the Queensland premier has called for the two Tigers players to be banished back to Victoria.
Will be interesting to see how the AFL reacts given the grand final announcement, wonder if they will yield as a sign of goodwill.

I know the $100 000 fines hurt, but I really think for 2nd and 3rd breaches, clubs should lose draft picks.

Financial sanctions only hurt up to a point.

100k is massive for a club during Covid times. Every team has had to let go staff and this will go towards their cap which will hurt. Even for a club as big as the Tigers , Think if it happens a third time i can see them loosing premiership points.

Richmond players Sydney Stack and Callum Coleman-Jones have been suspended for 10 matches, and will be sent home from Queensland, following a breach of the AFL’s COVID-19 protocols.

The AFL has also imposed a fine of $75,000 for the protocol breach, which the two players will pay. The Club will also pay a $25,000 fine that was suspended from a protocol breach earlier in the season.

Stack, 20, and Coleman-Jones, 21, were intoxicated and broke protocols by catching an Uber from the Club’s Gold Coast hub and attending a venue in Surfers Paradise early on Friday morning. These actions contravene AFL COVID-19 protocols. The AFL was made aware of the breach as soon as it was discovered on Friday morning.

With a three-day break in their training program, the players had been drinking alcohol at a Club and AFL-sanctioned event at the hub. The pair chose to continue drinking at the completion of the function in their rooms before going out and attending a venue.

The players were subsequently involved in an altercation outside a Surfers Paradise take-away food outlet. Coleman-Jones sustained minor facial injuries and was treated in hospital. Stack was taken into custody by Queensland Police, but no charges were laid.

Both players returned to the Club separately, and since the Club was made aware of the breach, the players have been quarantining separately in their rooms.
Richmond CEO, Brendon Gale said he was incredibly disappointed in the pair.

“Richmond – like all Clubs - has a responsibility to the game, and the broader AFL community, to observe the COVID-19 protocols that the AFL has put in place. Clearly Callum and Sydney did not meet that responsibility this week, and we are incredibly disappointed,” Gale said.
“The Club can’t ignore the fact that off-field we have got some things wrong in recent months. We need to own that as a Club and get better. We all accept that this has been a difficult year, but it is no excuse for some of the mistakes we have made.
“These players made very poor decisions after consuming too much alcohol, choosing to leave the Club’s hub in the early hours of Friday morning, and in doing so potentially putting themselves, their teammates and the AFL season at risk.
“Their decision to attend a venue while outside the hub was also completely unacceptable, and in no way aligns with what we stand for as a Club. They have let down themselves, teammates, our members and supporters, our partners and the entire AFL industry.
“Yes, young people can make mistakes, but we expect better. There is absolutely no excuse for what took place. We do however recognise we need to support and educate them. They have learned a very hard lesson and we need to help them earn back the trust and respect of the Club.
“Both players are extremely remorseful and apologise for their actions. That apology extends to the Queensland Government and Police who have far more significant matters to attend to in these difficult times.
“We are a strong, successful Club and we will work hard to deliver a Club that meets community expectations and makes our members and supporters proud.”

Tigers statement..

"Venue"

Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, whose government has single-handedly kept alive the 2020 AFL season in allowing teams to hub in the state and for matches to be played at the Gabba and Metricon Stadium, had demanded they be sent home when told of the breaches.

Jeez Damien could you suck a little harder?

I love that now the WA hub is over, it never happened. AFL choosing the option that suited them ≠ QL singlehandedly saving anything.

Rich clubs can still manage the books.
Wonder if you are still allowed to pay over the cap and pay the tax.

Draft picks hurt more.
I doubt they will dock points TBH.
