So our three best players this year combined for 6 total votes. Whereas two midfielder who were by and large disappointing this year combined for 22 votes. What a weird analysis our votes appears to be.

The only votes that matter are the bigfooty MVP one's bruv.

So two mids in Sheed and Kelly, who had inconsistent seasons, get 11 votes each.

Our three AA players get 6 votes between them?

The Brownlow is broken. Has been for years tbf.

Tend to agree; but is also a broad indication that Kelly was with it, and as a team we player top quality footy, for the first half against melbourne, three quarters agaist the pies (first time) and the second half agains the cats. The remainder was bog average at best with might one point wins against rubbish like North.

Since 1992 there's only been one player (Goodes 2003) who wasn't a midfielder to have won it. Even that is contentious as Goodes was more of a mid than ruck.

What are everyone's thoughts on the GF winner? I'd like Geelong to win, as I think Richmond have had enough success, but I am not at all convinced by them. They beat 8th placed Collingwood and a flakey Brisbane who never looked in it. Tigers also smashed them late in the season.

Unfortunately I think the game will break open in the second and Tigers will win by about 5 goals.

Don't like Geelong/Chris Scott very much, but prefer it to 3 of the last 4 flags being won by Richmond.

Clark touted as going to Freo for Pick 7 - Cameron trade?

Freo have pick 10, they dropped down the order after going into deficit picking up Henry last year.

Pick 10 for Clark seems a bit high IMO, but good luck to them if they want to pay it

I heard the eagles are going to do a raid on Geelong to nab all the talent they can no longer afford... is what I want to see front page of the worst Australian

I think they're just a very well run football club tbh. Especially in the list management side of it.
They obviously are well run, but they've also been topping up for years to try and win a flag so should be right at the limit salary cap wise. Who's eating the big pay cut to get Cameron in?

Ablett's retirement would immediately cause a lot of money to be available.

The 'topping up' includes players like Steven and Jenkins whose salaries are at least half paid by St Kilda and Adelaide respectively, and Menegola, Miers, Ratugolea etc who may be mature age recruits but would also be paid not very much in their first two years. Which other players apart from Dangerfield, Hawkins and Selwood would be getting paid the big bucks?

Would Ablett be on much coin? He went back for personal reasons and to win a flag.

They've traded a ton of guys in and normally there is a premium to get someone to move clubs - Dalhaus, Rohan, Henderson, Stanley, plus those you mentioned. Also guys who've had breakout form the last few years like Stewart, Blicavs, Duncan would have had improved contracts.
