Serious question - was he ever actually that good? He's not shit obviously, but I would rank him a level or two below someone like Adam Hunter

Don’t think it was as much Frawley as it was our entire side being a burning dumpster fire

Frawley is a solid B grader like Mitch Brown was for us. Is quick on a lead and matched up well on JK. Figured out in 2015 GF that best way is to tunnel him with his body when JK leads and goes for the mark. Dangerous and scrappy but not necessarily illegal as it's not quite in the back and doesn't flip him like using hands to tunnel lower body.

Ive rewatched the first quarter of that GF and on the scorboard we weren't in that much trouble until into the second quarter. However, on the field the Hawks went to another level that absolutely floored us. Our guys couldn't match it and then went to water in the second half.

There were a few small moments that could have got us back in it like both Hurn and Pridda missing shots from pretty gettable angles.

Overall, I console myself with the thought that the experience would have helped big time in 2018 when a similar thing happened in the first quarter. This time our senior players kept it together and we all know what happened next...

He set up 4 of their first 5 goals. Game was pretty much over at quarter time. I know we were down by a similar amount in 2018 but there was no realistic chance of us reeling in that dynasty Hawks team, even that early on. Rioli set the win up, everything else from that point was party time.

I was at the game and suffered some PTSD for a few years after. It was funny to think about it today and look up some stats, I'm not really too fussed now. 2018 definitely helped and in an odd way, so have the last two seasons of falling short. I can clearly see we had a good team but not a dynasty, so getting two 2 GF and winning one is a good result. Fingers crosses we jag another next year.

It also helps a lot seeing Hawks in bottom 4, staring at a long painful rebuild.

That wasn't the only shocker or bad luck we had.
Shuey not giving the handball to Cripps for what would have been a certain goal, instead trys to dribble it on the outside of his boot.
Nic's kick on goal that bounced back into play instead of forward through the goals.
Hurn demanding the ball of JK, our FF who hadn't kicked a goal and was in range and needed the boost, only to miss the shot on the siren.
There was no end to it.
