Thats where teams like us, Port and Brisbane come into the mix. Port should really have knocked them off in the prelim last year. Doubt things align for them to win a knock out final on the road again (if it happens).
Yep, it is still very early in the season - but history says that the top 8 doesn't actually change all that much from this point (the make-up, the finishing order still changes significantly). That puts us, Port and Sydney as very likely finalists. If a 4th interstate team can get in it probably helps us (currently Adelaide, but most expect it to be Brisbane by season end).

That would mean a high possibility of 2 interstate finals for Richmond. I think that would be a bridge too far even for them.

Normally it's after round 6 that the teams making finals are almost set. There can be 1-2 outliers that make their way in but it's normally the round to call it.

Richmond are 2-2 but you just know they'll be back in the thick of it again come end of the season.
yep. next few at the G. Theyll get a nice run going. Be interesting if they do lose a few games though.

We all knew it was a sh*t trade at the time, do you reckon Freo would want to walk it back and give up Logue and get McCluggage?

Plenty here were apoplectic that we weren't in the bidding war with Freo and mortified that he walked for effectively nothing after a year of spitting the dummy at GWS.

I reckon some here give our recruiting team too little credit - there was a reason we avoided Bennell, Hogan, McCarthy etc and it wasn't because of lack of on-field talent.

Last two years they were in a similar position.

I only write off Richmond once the final siren blows on a knock-out final and they are behind on the scoreboard.

I thoroughly agree regarding Richmond however the more losses they rack up early in the season the better it is for us. I can't see sydney lasting out the season as a top 4 side and while they look like they will make finals now we realistically need to finish top 2 and hope that the other side in the top 2 is Port so no matter what richmond are playing a prelim away from home against an interstate side.

Even though the ultimate glory would be dominating them in a qualifying final here in Perth and then winning against them in the grand final with Yeo completely nullifying dusty.

My memory is sketchy and I can't be arsed going back, but were people really upset we didn't go for McCarthy? I never saw the attraction myself, and we're so good at developing talls and forwards we should never be trading hard for them.

Bennell I'd have taken a punt on as he was a free hit. Hogan I wouldn't have touched with a barge pole, no surprise at all how that panned out.

Add to that the likes of Rhan Hooper, Chris Yarran, Dayle Garlett, Elijah Taylor, Sam Powell-Pepper etc who people around here lamented the club was being too risk averse by not chasing them.

Mind you it's a lot easier to judge these things with hindsight, but club does know what it's doing.

Didn't Gov get a week for pushing someone into the fence?

He did, but Guelfi also had busted ribs from memory?

If Guelfi had walked away from it uninjured Gov might have only got fined.

Guelfi had a concussion.
My point is, that if they use "the potential to cause injury", he should get a week.

Christian will more than likely give him a fine.

Who have Norf traded out that's gone onto greater things elsewhere?

Ben Brown played over 100 games and was drafted in 2013, so the Atley stat becomes only mildly more damning when you consider BB only left last year.

Higgins played over 100 games for them but was drafted back in 'nam and then traded in.

Actually, Luke McDonald has played over 100 games, 2013 draft class. Didn't we bid for that spud? Yikes.

Trent Dumont on 99 games as well, 2013 draft class.

That's enough Kangas research for me..

Higgins was drafted by the dogs
