May’s a beast.
Melbourne's decisions to trade in Lever and May have proved far-sighted. They paid a high price, but they got exactly what they needed. Steven May isn't just a good defender, he's got the sort of presence that lifts a team. As more or less a swap for Jesse Hogan, they got a bargain.

All of their trades recently have been pretty clever, even Langdon which looked a bit iffy initially.

Much better than paying second rounders for Jake Melksham, Bernie Vince and Chris Dawes or first rounders for Mitch Clark and Dom Tyson etc.

The Lever trade was helped a lot by finishing top 4 in 2018, as they’d traded their future first rounder for him. Could have easily been 2 x top-10 picks otherwise.

Essendon and the Crows making our first quarter look good.

Genuine concerns neither of our teams will kick a goal next week

Alec Waterman is definitely an AFL player. Will be interesting to see if he can transition to the midfield next year. Shame we couldn’t find a spot for him on our list
He wanted nothing to do with us. We offered him a spot on our list, he said he wasn't interested playing top level footy, then a week later started training with Essendon. What does that tell you?

I get where you're coming from, but it's more likely he thought he had a better chance of getting consistent games at Essendon.

Doedee to miss our game with concussion.

Great hearing Carey call that out for what it was - I cringe when the commentators gush about amazing bravery in cases like that - that was just a classic case of poor awareness - Max Hudghton built his reputation doing shit like that, getting in the path of a leading player and getting ironed out with little chance of winning the contest.
