Obviously right now Taylor is still ahead, but Reid is almost three years younger, and catching up at the rate of knots.

Statistically, they're virtually identical, and they both take on big roles against good forwards, but given Reid's age and his rate of improvement, I'd say that by the time he's Taylor's age, he'll be a better player.

Taylor but geez I love Ben Reid. I wanted Hawthorn to go hard for him at the end of 09, before Collingwood really started pumping games into him.

Now he's untouchable.

Taylor's been super impressive, well ahead of Reid ATM, going to be a great player is Reid though IMO.

Who would I take right now if my team is contending and looking for a premiership in the next 2-3 years? Harry Taylor.

Who would I take if my team is rebuilding and not a contender for 3-4 years? Ben Reid.

The job Harry did on Riewoldt in 2009 GF was amazing and if best and fairest (not BOG or brownlow) votes were given for that game, he would've got my 3 (mind you, I thought Nathan Brown did a similar job in both GF's last year - Roo got his marks and kicks, but way up the ground).

Reid is just a great QB. Booming left foot. Has some struggles against bigger bodies but will continue to grow.

Are there any Collingwood players who aren't overrated in your eyes?
Plenty.

Pendles, Thomas, Tarrant, Shaw, Ball, Dawes, Cloke, Davis off the top of my head.

Nothing to do with bias, as I actually have no problem with Collingwood.

I hate Chris Connolly & Cameron Schwab for giving away our first rounder in the draft Reid was taken for Tarrant. Now Collingwood have both, great work fellas!
OT would be ecstatic with either.

Taylor is the better player right now but that is b/c of the protection of Scarlett. Taylor's finish to last season was woeful.

Reid has more scope in his playing ability. If he isn't one of the best CHB's already, there isn't one young key defender superior to him. His upside is enormous.

Reid is overrated.

Taylor's the best CHB in the league, not that there's much competition.
You must have missed the last 18 months if you think that, so far off the mark about Reid.

Quite a biased view. There was a bloke taken a few spots after him in the same draft who was AA for Melbourne last year who is far superior to Reid at the moment.

Reid was recruited as a FWD, he played his first season as a FWD, the kid's made a very good fist of being a KPB to date and is still learning the craft, i reckon he's capable of being an AA back within 5 yrs, FTR, Taylors better than Frawley ATM too.

Umps need to tighten up on Reid, he gets away with grabbing the arm of his opponent a bit too often. Noticed it 3-4 times v Dogs and 4-5 times on ANZAC day.
Taylor's a better player, was better at 22 as well, and I'd be happy to stick with that. Not sure if Reid's going to improve as so many others are sure of, I just don't think he's that smart at the 1-on-1 stuff.

Been a Reid fan from day 1 but no way you can vote for him against Taylor

Not much of a poll at this stage as Taylors career is much more developed. They may end up being similarly rated with a similar no of premiership medals around their neck

Revisit this in 5 years

It's got nothing to do with Scarlett. He let Franklin get two quick goals against him against Hawthorn, was moved onto Roughead then played an absolute blinder. Kept Cloke quiet on Friday night who historically has troubled him. It's not like Scarlett stands next to him at every marking contest.

Taylor by a margin over Reid at the moment. They are both very good Key Backs but Reid needs to add some bulk to deal with bigger bodies otherwise they are quite even.

Oh and Scarlett has made Harry Taylor by teaching him his ways but if Scarlett isn't there Taylor is still very good.

I thought Reid was good today. I must have been watching a different game. He had one poor kick which cost us a goal, but he didn't do a lot wrong. Kept Tippett very quiet, keeping in mind the dominance of the Adelaide midfield in the first half and the lack of Maxwell to help out.

Reid is a very good young player and will continue to improve, but you can't go past Taylor at this stage.

He's an absolute star.

He's not flashy and doesn't often stand out, but spend time watching him and only him during a game and you can't help but appreciate the way he plays the game.

This.

Well said. Fan of both players but Taylor is an AA quality player while Reid is still working on improving. Happy with how Reid is going though.
