Player Watch Reilly O'Brien - Re-Signed to End of 2028

I went down to Richmond over Easter for my first look at the SANFL side, and ROB was fantastic. Competitive unit and took some really strong grabs, particularly for a teenage ruck. Moves really well, very happy with this pick.

Ramsey has a lot to like about him. The one I was very impressed (surprised) with was Harry Dear, disappointing he's now injured. I had fears that he was a bit of a lumbering dinosaur, long bomb contested mark type, but he moved and presented as a hit up target very, very well. A bit to like about the talls we've gathered in this draft period.
Agreed. We certainly upgraded from Smack and Graham lol

Congratulations Reilly.
He has come on in leaps & bounds in his first year.
I am excited by what he has to offer and love his competitiveness in the ruck and arounf the ground.
Hope he takes JJ spot this weekend.

He will be playing. We dont upgrade rookies to have them play SANFL. Good luck to the lad, liked what I saw in the NAB series and hopefully he puts in a good showing.

Those expecting him to outshine JJ first up may be disappointed however.

He's won me over if he manages to crash a pack during the course of the game :p

For sure, but for all his downside we still lose roughly 2 goals a game. Now sure we can make it up through other avenues but ROB wont be one of them.

I reckon he will be one of those rucks who floats back not forward.

Well thats a shock, usually we play a rookie if he gets upgraded.

Thats true but in the past we haven't bothered having them as emergencies weve thrown them straight in.

"Young ruckman Reilly O’Brien has joined the growing list of players committing to the Crows, signing a new two-year deal."

"O’Brien said he was rapt to be continuing his career with the Crows.

“I love the environment here at the Club and the direction we’re heading in,” O’Brien said.

“I’m learning a lot from 'Sauce' Jacobs, ‘Doc’ Clarke and all the coaches, and look forward to continuing to develop my game.”

Crows Head of Football David Noble said O’Brien was an exciting long-term prospect for the Club.

“We’re really pleased with Reilly’s development in his short time at our Club, and we believe he’s got enormous room for growth,” Noble said.

“He’s a real competitor who never gives up on a contest and always looks to bring his teammates into the game. Our ruck stocks are in a good position moving forward.”"
