Winnable games, I think we will win at least one. I know it will cost us a pick but we are better than a 4 wins team this year. We will finish with at least pick 7 (with Melbourne having 1 & 2) and that pick is always the best :)

i think we should aim to win at least 2 of those 3.

if we play like we did on the w/e we'll lose all 3. but we're a better team than that (at times) and i think we can finish off the season somewhat strongly to at least gain some confidence going into next year.

hopefully we can knock essendon out of the finals race.

that would please me.

At this stage of the season I must confess I dont want to win any of them.:o

However if we win one, I want to win them all.

Finishing on five wins would be the worst possible outcome to the season.

I dont see how we are chances in any game this year. North are purely a better team. Richmond have found some form with Cousins igniting them, Richo will also be back by then. Essendon are a much better team then we are and they will be wanting to attone for last weekend.

2 things have to happen:
1. Our senior players step up and play well
2. The opposition needs to think they can come over here for an easy win

IMO thats the ingredients that have allowed us to win our home games v Port and Bulldogs this year. Melbourne came here to win and it was an ugly game that we scraped through on and v Hawthorn was a complete freak of a win. If we are facing a switched on Essendon/North/Richmond it will require a substantial 4 quarter effort from the guys to get a win, just because its a home game doesnt assure us of anything.

Sure we go ok at home but for every win there has been a loss.

I dont like thinking about only winning one game this year either....

I never want our football club to ever win the spoon.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if we won all three of those games to be perfectly honest.

I personally dont want them to win any more games but I have a feeling that we will beat Essendon this week. They dont travel interstate well and we have a 8 day break with no travel.

i would be happy if we won all three. 7 wins and a strong finish would be sweet.

but if we lost one i would prefer to lose them all. on 5 or 6 wins our season is still ****ing crap, but there is no PP

sad, isnt it

i reckon you will beat both north and richmond, with kennedy to kick a big bag in atleast one of the games... he is due. i think essendon will have your number, but as a previous poster said, when you are out of the finals race it is good to knock a prospective finalist out of the race

is kerr out for the year?

Im torn because I want Essendon to knock Carlton out of finals, and yet I also want to knock Essendon out of finals. I think my hatred towards Carlton is more and so Id prefer (if we had to loose a game) to loose against Essendon, purely because of the "Were Coming" headline Carlton dished out at the start of the year. The amount of times ive heard that from Carlton supporters *shakes head*

If we end up with 7 wins, then we will fall short of the 8 by around 5 wins. Which is an encouraging sign since how shit we have been this season and it would mean we are definitely in the mix to make the 8 next season. Then again if we finish with 4 wins, it doesnt rule us out of making the 8 next season either.

We will win all three, and seriously damage our team for the future. Go AFL! ;)

Nah I'm not fussed about the PP, I'd like to see us win a few more games, two of those we should probably win, and the Bombers aren't exactly flying after last week.

Travelling to Subi needs to be a tough ask for most teams- only Collingwood, Geelong and St Kilda have travelled over here and won (all in the top 4), and we beat the other top 4 team in the Bulldogs easily. Plus the other top 4 had to work for their wins, they weren't in control from the get-go.

Carn you Eagles. :)

As I understand it NM & Richmond are now officially out of PP territory BUT they both improve their positions if we beat them (as we lose the PP) .... not suggesting that we or they would tank for picks but .....

I am torn at this stage, most say its a shallow draft and after the first 6 it gets pretty average, we lose every game, we likely get Scully & Trengrove or Lucas/Morabito .....

In 3 years, when we have the AFL's best midfield it would have been worth a few dodgy losses to shit sides..... but we wouldnt ....
:)

bloody sucks, to me logic says don't win anymore games this year. It's done and dusted...we suck.
I know as soon as you go to subiaco though you barrack hard and want them to win..so I might just not go to anymore games :o
My absolute preference is to win every last game home and away, but man, imagine if in 2001 we didn't pick up Judd because we won one game too many. Adelaide would probably have 4 flags.

I will be ****ing pissed off if they haven't abolished 1st round priority picks next year for good.

Do you think we are tanking Eagles87? I ave no doubt the players are doing their best, is the tank on up in the box?

When I looked at our forward line on the weekend and saw very long slabs of time in which we had players Hansen, Kennedy & Seaby/Lynch as our only players inside 50m, with LeCras and Paddy Mac sucked up onto the wings, I certainly thought there was a suggestion of "not putting our best foot forward" and I also thought it was odd, if victory was your main game" to shift Embley deep forward in the last quarter and to start said last quarter with NN on ball and with one of the kids in the middle. By contrast, Freo started Sandi, Pav, Hasleby and (at times) Solomon.....

I half expected us to all start cramping in the last quarter and then find out the following that we had done a 20km running session the day before the game .....

I am unsure we are flat out tanking but I do get the idea that being competitive and not winning might be enough .....

As the weeks go by, the attraction to an outright tank might be overwhelming. I mean 2 of the Top 3 or 4 in this draft and we will have the best group of young players in the league.

I was in melbourne on the weekend so i never watched the game but from what I have read on here it was a poor match and we had many opportunity's to win the game.
Guess your right that the PP is worth grabbing now being so close to end of season. Doesn't make it nice to watch or even be interested in them though.

But will put myself through the torment at Subi again this weekend. Hoepfully we are wrong and they get up for a win?

I think we can win all 3 games. The eagles are currently $3.15 to beat essendon, looks like a good bet.:thumbsu:

The footy fan in me says we should go all out for the win and will be cheering us on. The pragmatic realist in me says that, while losing sucks, the bigger picture is best suited by 5 close competitive losses.

If we do win this week, I want us to win all 5 games.... the notion of missing out on one of the first 2 picks because we won 5 games instead of 4 will just irritate me for years.

I know that will annoy the hell out of me because we think they have been gunning for picks and then to miss out when I think we could of and should of won at least on 4 other occasions this year would be hard to take or even fathom what the club is trying to achieve.

Its hard to be optomistic at the moment, I guess we go there and cheer them on and worse case scenario is we see a good game.

The thing for me is seeing far less skill errors, if we lose we lose I can live with that but our skills bug the hell out of me. But its clear that aint going to change for a while so lets just see what pans out.

I watched Richmond/Essendon live at the G on Sunday and they don't have a great deal, put it this way Cousins was the best footballer on the park out of the 44 that played, he stood out like a beacon his talent to the others.
Essendon run quick through the middle but once they get the ball close to their forward line they seem to get lost, maybe more credit needs to go to the Tigers. Was not impressed much by the bombers. Based on what I watched we should towell them up. But we should have done the same to the dockers also.

cross the fingers game I think?

If only it worked that way, based on us v Bulldogs/Port we should be in the top 4, based on us v Fremantle/Melbourne we should be right where we are (even the game we won). Essendon fluctuate because they are still relatively young but at there best they will beat us, even at Subi.

Be nice if it did work that way though!

We are such a jeckle and Hyde outfit and you just never know what or who is going to turn up to play or how they will play.

Like I said, cross your fingers game.

Isnt that over analyising though? I mean even during games in 05/06/07 the coaches did things that made you ask why but no one could accuse us of tanking then.

Also, didnt Embley have at least one shot on goal in the last quarter that if he had of kicked would of made the decision to put him there a good one, and with Naita after that first ruck contest he drifted straight into the forward 50. Sure Freo started quality players in the middle, but who could we of started that would of been better? im sure A.Selwood and Rosa were around there somehwere.
