how it can be unfair

most sporting comps worldwide let teams play endless consecutive weeks at the one ground allowed to host the season decider

richmond are a fantastic side, but its a massive advantage

the old interstate sides have won flags arguements means **** all, that just had to be that friggen awesome to win a flag

Blame the AFL and the TV networks, not Richmond. The whole Fixture has been a bloody joke for years.

Hopefully no other club like this gets such an advantage at the last quarter of the H and A season, but as I say, this ain't on The Tigers at all, blame Gil and Steve Hoxking etc

And funny enough...RFC also had to be awesome to play in grand finals.

You do know they have been extremely disappointing since early 80s.

About 500 mcg home games later they are good again.

Your argument is utterly ridiculous mate.

Exactly.

If the MCG is such a great advantage to us, how were we so utterly s**t for almost four decades.

We have a bit of success and it's "waaaah waaaah waaaaahh Richmond have an unfair home ground advantage."

Richmond had 13 MCG games.

Collingwood had 14; Melbourne 12 + 2 home games in the Territory; Hawthorn 9 + 4 home games in Tasmania.

Essendon had 8 + 8 at home; Carlton 7 + 8 at home.

We had to play the MCG games at some stage. I'm sure Richmond didn't request to play the last seven there, making the other two-thirds of the fixture more difficult.

home ground advantage does not make a ordinary team premiers..you have to be half decent to take advantage of the extroadinary privilege that Richmond have
Its really not that hard to understand

Maybe the success is due to the advantage?

Mods, divvy this so we can have a proper go at it please?
So if this unfair advantage didn't occur where would Richmond have finished?
Log off and don't come back.
Play some games at Punt Road
We had the lowest number of home games of any side in the competition, with a total of 6 homes games played up until round 16, including our obligatory 1 at Marvel.

No one complained about our fixture prior to the 7 games at the 'G.
GWS round 3. You absolute turnip.
Your argument would hold more water if it was accurate.

GWS (who finished 7th in 2018) hosted Richmond in Round 3 in Sydney; which Richmond then had to back up and travel to Adelaide to play Port in Round 4. These two back to back games early in the season when we were still trying to get into the season and during the start of our 'injury crisis' (Remembering that Richmond was missing Rance, Riewoldt, Cotchin & Martin in Round 4) could also be an example of where the fixture disadvantaged us.

The AFL should've had one of the Giants or Power games away late in the season instead of playing both teams away early in the year and at home later in the season; but that's the way the fixture works.
Something that clearly needs to be talked about...again. :drunk:
We had also travelled the most of any Victorian side up until that point too (Including Geelong).
Probably unfair yes.
But so was having five home MCG games in the first 15.
Nobody ever comments on that.
Old news bud, what's fair in the AFL anyway? Is it fair that GWS were gifted all the young talent from the under 17's and 18's?
Now a serious question to you richmond supporters.

When Richmond beat freo in Perth this year minus 4-6 players of their 22 out injured and Shai Bolton tore freo apart. Did anyone complain about it?

No richmond supporter bitched and moaned about travel. I didnt either now lets move the f*** on.

who cares? good teams win more than they lose on any ground... no one worried about facing richmond on the MCG in 2007. they could have had 22 games on the MCG that year, and they'd still have been bottom 4.

theyre a good team now, in a competition full of teams that play on the MCG. once they drop off, it will stop being an issue - and the next good melbourne team will have their 'unfair advantage' on of one the most commonly played on grounds in the competition.

Huh?

This thread wasn't created by a Richmond supporter--- it was created by a flog from out West. What are you on about??

Studies have shown that exposure to extensive travel does take an extra toll on players based in Queensland and Perth. KPI’s drop off significantly after 200 games or so when compared to players from Victoria, Sydney and Adelaide.

The 300 game mark is misleading as most players are physically able to reach that number of games, it’s more to do with the fact that a Matthew Pavlich or David Mundy only performing at 80% of their career output for example were / are still better players than most others on the Dockers list so continued to play on
hahahaha!

Care factor zero.

1st off your an eagles fan. Also your known to be a troll. you have Bashed freo a few times on bay 13 and on te AFL main board.

what you posted is irrelvant for a couple of reasons.

Watch European soccer. EPL they play 38 games in 7-8 months. Sometimes they play once a week sometimes twice a week.

English championship. you have 46 games. you face 23 opponents twice. Again. whats that? 46 games in like 38 weeks.

oh and as far as American basketball, the NBA is concerned, thats 82 regular season games from mid october to mid april.

82 games in like 26 weeks. you play 3-4 games in 1 week.

I dont care.

I get pissed off when people bitch and moan and complain about the smallest things.

So many bigfooty posters are petty and cruel.
