I have debates about this guy...i think hes an average to good footballer...what do you think...

These 2 words get thrown around way too much in AFL speaking terms. CHAMPION & LEGEND. Hird, Robert Harvey, Greg Williams, Carey, Ablett, Lockett are Legends & Champions (+ more). I wouldnt say he is a champion of the AFL. Having said this Yes i would say that he is a Champion/Legend of the Richmond football club. He has been the loan forward for Richmond for the past 14 years and i respect him highly.

I think that is about right. He is a flawed champion but a great player none-the-less.

Could have been anything before hurting his knee. I think he is a very good player, who will go down as a Richmond great.

That year he did he's knee, up untill then, he was having one of the best individual seasons ever, would have gone so close to the Brownlow/Coleman double, absolutely dominated that year.
And as for the question, anybody that kicks over 700 goals and is in the top 20 all time leading scorers and will go close to top 10 by the end of he's career, is not average, anybody who thinks otherwise has absolutely zero idea about footy

Yep, when Richo did his knee he had kicked 27.3 (how's that for accuracy!) he was winning the coleman and he was winning (or second?) in the Brownlow. He was 21 years old.

He kicked 6 goals in his first game back from the knee reco, then went on to kick 91 goals for that season.

He's a champion :thumbsu:

He's also taken the most marks out of any single player of the last 20 years.

He's taken more contested marks than anyone since Wayne Carey.

He is on target to finish his career as the 9th highest goalkicker of all time (how's that for irony, 9th best?!!?!!!)

Champion.

Average......made to look better in a very ordinary team over the years....personally have never seen a more petulant sulky player than Richo...

I rate Richo very highly, especially over the past 4 years. The problem is that the Tiges list management has been a complete and utter disaster and as a consequence he's had no quality KP forward support and he's generally been getting delivery from terrible midfield setups which doesn't help. He still is a very dangerous player though. :)

Read post 7.

You know nothing you chump:thumbsu:

I read on another forum an opinion that KP Forwards generally have 3-5 years of peak performance, before they drop off when they get older. Examples include Dermott Brereton 1985-1989, Wayne Carey 1991-1999. It is quite rare for KP forwards to play at a high level for the remainder of their careers, such as Dunstall, Lockett and Ablett. Richardson's form as a veteran clearly shows how good a player he really is.
