it was. i made sure to have FanFooty open to see Smith get a +3 and he did. He seems to have no idea that he can barely kick a drop punt 35 metres let alone a snap. one of the worst decisions you'll ever see

The worst part is that he’s the only small forward we have bar Hird who has any kind of forward craft, his body is just shot.

If you wanted to give him an out you could argue that he just flat out didn’t see him because he turned the wrong way but that’s just on his distance, let alone on the non preferred.

Dude. Your takes on umpiring free kicks are consistently wrong, deliberately contrarion and just plain tiring. I would bother to pick apart your points, but since you opted to let my response last time go through to the keeper, I won’t bother again. But seriously, enough with the groan-worthy trying-to-be-different persona. You think the average fan doesn’t understand the rules but the irony is it’s you who doesn’t interpret them properly.
I think I did a similar thing myself, so of course I'm happy for you to do the same.

But yeah if Bont got a concussion there, Redmond would be suspended, 100%, so obviously it's a free-kick. The dangerous tackle rule is inconsistently applied, which since it's actually pretty simple is annoying, but it's there. And the first one bouncer34 is covering. thanks bouncer

TBH, Stringer should have had the ping from 55. he's a better chance at that distance than Dev is from half of it
It's sad, cos i love Dev. But his legs are robbing him.

oh god i didn't even notice that

that flunky goal from the other week may be the worst thing to happen to us, he's gonna go shot for goal crazy now.

I was very surprised that he didn't! Maybe he thought he had a Dogs player close to him...? And that Smith would then hit Wright up

Glad the boys just "let it go" like Ethan wanted.

We are not a chance for finals apparently. Oh, and freo are going to beat brisbane.

Awesome footy, dons. Great to watch.
Yeah I got some laugh reacts after the eagles game when I said we can make the 8 🤣

I‘ve kinda made my peace, given how much we over handball in the forward 50 to our detriment he pretty much has license from anywhere inside his range as far as I’m concerned, the issue is that he has no concept of what his range actually is anymore because his legs are gone.

sometimes its nice to lie to yourself, but hope for the best :p
i wasn't even gonna watch today. not sure what possessed me to put it on.

Seems it worked. :)

That was a good forward line performance.

Oh, and that was minus Heppell & McGrath plus couple of handy kids in Perkins & Jones. :D
Imagine we hadn't had half our marvel games stripped from us then deduct to umpire bias. Would be a very different year.

Give him the licence to torp. Hell, teach him how to drop kick it, anything to get a few more meters.

We had all the momentum and Smith wanted to get involved himself with a hero goal. Been like this his whole career. No way he didn't know Merrett was open right next to him and on his preferred side.

- Looked shabby early. Really thought the Doggies would continue to have the wood over us based on the same old historical possession dominance. Was something like 25-50 disposals during the first. We have grown as a club, no doubt.

- Heppell out, yet we found leadership to dig our way out of the shit we were in regardless.

- Our much talked about lack of depth in players 16-22… Clarke, Guelfi, Stewart, Franga, Cutler, Durham are in that bracket and they all played important roles.

- Draper…

- Multiple marking targets holding their grabs is so important.

- The Dogs played good footy for a lot of the game. It’s not as if they didn’t show up.

- Kicking straight so as not to deflate the team is a critical part of the game, possibly the most critical unless you’re a vastly superior team to the opposition.

Not under current "interpretations."

Knocked out in the tackle, play on. We had a few today too.

The Laws of the Game don’t mention about the ball being knocked out. Under a precise reading of the laws, assuming prior opportunity, it’s holding the ball.

If we accept the current interpretation regarding the ball being knocked out as as a play-on scenario, again it is meant to apply where there’s no prior. The spirit of letting the ball carrier off the hook is to not penalise him when it would otherwise be deemed incorrect disposal with prior. It’s to give him a chance to dispose. It’s not meant to apply when he has already had a chance to dispose, and it certainly isn’t meant to apply when he weakly lets it get knocked out, which is what happened with Bont. He essentially didn’t bother making an effort to dispose or maintain possession; it’s akin to dropping the ball in a tackle with prior.

Amazing win. Making finals would be a good experience for this young team, and if we can beat the top team with half-a-dozen best 22 players out we can beat anybody.

But Devon Smith seriously needs to go. Could tolerate his selfishness when he was a good player, but now that he's bog average (at best) he's a liability.
Took the ball off clarke lining up for goal too. Saw him loitering around and knew he was going to call for it

Well that's different because Clarke was handing that off to anyone he could because he knew he couldn't make the distance (given players were already on the goal line). The problem is Clarke handed it to the next worst kick we have in the forward half of the ground

I know it's not in the laws which is why I said interpretation.

Current interpretation is if it's knocked out, even with prior, it's play on.
