For Walls to come out and say Eddie Betts is just hanging on to his AFL career based on his ability/performances just goes to show how out of touch Walls is with Carlton and how quickly he jumps at the chance to bag the club that gave him so much.

Betts is by far our best small forward and has never been in any sort of trouble before this minor infringment, while on his Christmas break I might add, plus all he did was get drunk in the city, big deal.

It is well past the time for him to stop commenting, or commentating on Carlton games for Channel 10, unless he can show a balanced view when it comes to the club. He tries so hard when commentating to not seem biased towards Carlton he ends up bashing the crap out of us at every opportunity and making himself look like a mad fool.:thumbsd:

it's well past the time for him to stop commentating full stop! At least he tries not to be biased with the Blues. He doesn't even try & hide his hatred of Essendon!

Scrub? I know the history of the club very well thank you, and he was one of our best CHF's, however "scrub?" his current comments and commentating are abysmal.:D

Can't roast Wallsy. Club legend. He's tough but that's why he has achieved success as a player and a coach. His attitude with the Bombers is fine with me. Eddie has a number of priors and I think he has to realise that he is an employee of the Carlton Football Club and subject to standards that he is having trouble abiding by. He is talented, he is exciting but there's a lot more to football that just playing.

I didn't hear Walls say that, or hear about it until now, But if he did say that he clearly has no idea what so ever. What a tool to say that about Betts.
Clearly our best small forward like many people have said.
I can't believe it, "hanging on to his afl career" what the ****.

I dont give a sh1t what he did for the club, he is a dead set arseh*le when he calls carlton games. All he does is bag us non stop and I for one will not listen the the channel 10 commentary because of that flog and the other shit fish Tim Lane. He is way past his use by date and he just bags clubs now trying to be controversial to justify keeping his job.

He is paid to opine, that;s his job
He's usually spot on, he is a legend of the club.
No-one to blame here except the dumb players

Walls comments were spot on.
None of the 4 players are really any good and should be busting their guts for their football club and to make a name for themselves as top AFL players, not pisshead fools.

Walls still has good sources at the club, so the question is whether he's just giving his opinion of Eddie or whether his comment is based on sources within the club generally think about Eddie.

If it's based on what Walls has heard within the inner walls of Visy Park (pun intended), then it'll be interesting to see what comes of all this for Eddie

This drinking incident has come pretty soon after the sleeping in incident.

What, so your saying Betts is not a good afl player?
He was one of the more better small forwards in the league mate, 38 goals from a small crumming forward sounds pretty good, not to mention he had 27 goal assists (equal 2nd in the league with judd)

I can't let this go Toad. This is a disrespectful post to a club legend. I'm sure the adrenalin is pumping and you'll be sorry for this post tomorrow. If you're not, well that's one.

Cry us a river. Walls has no clue and should keep his mouth shut. :thumbsu:

Hahaha... Compared to Eddie's 2009, over 15 seasons Robert Walls kicked more goals in a year only four times; and two of those were by just 9 goals. This is one guy the game has passed by.

259 games, 444 goals, 3 premierships as a player, 1 as coach.
A member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame.

What's your point?

Why do you care?

Do you like Carlton? ;)

I believe Walls followed Essendon before Carlton signed him.

Smith, Connolly, Quayle, Robinson, Caroline Wilson and Jim Main can't hide their dislike of Carlton.

At least Walls was a champion footballer, premiership coach and premiership player who more than paid his dues at two clubs.

actually, I have the misfortune of having probably 4 out of my 5 or 6 bestest mates go for Carlton. They're a horrible, arrogant, circle-jerking clique of puffed-up arse-hats....and I love them dearly :p

So let's just say, I have a "special interest" in Carlton... :p

I actually think the Sheedy thing had more to do with Walls' hatred of Essendon than anything. Those two ***** hate each other!

Walls was/is an AFL legend. That I will grant him, & not even grudgingly. However, his time has passed. He doesn't understand the modern game, is an opinionated knob jockey, changes his mind to suit the circumstances regularly, & is a raging hypocrite.

That said, I'm an egotistical nobody on an internet forum, so, you know, swings & roundabouts

I agree. Despite being a club legend, I can't stand his work as a commentator, and not just when he's calling CFC games. He reminds me of Ian Chappell.... Both grumpy old farts.

He is a passionate supporter and a legend of the club, but thats his problem. People who cannot distance themselves from their allegiances (like Wallsy) should not be commentating on national tv. Chappelli is similar.

His post-match rant on a meaningless decision after the Fev poster game v us last year just highlighted it.

He bags out Carlton as much as he supports them because he is, again, a supporter. The problem opp fans have with his commentating is not because he is pro or anti Carlton, its because he only talks about Carlton. Hardcore one-eyed fans rarely acknowledge the oppositions skill after a defeat, it is always because their team stuffed it.

in a premiership team Betts is a fringe player. No question about it, he has to perform and players in his role are easily replaceable.

Walls is often harsh but right, just like his bottom 6 article last year although one of the players might have not belonged on the list.

We win a flag, we prove him wrong. We don't win one, he is right.

Walls is always close to the money.

Sometimes wrong around the edges but ten times closer to the point than most supporters on this board. Says the hard things supporters here don't sometimes like to hear.
