Robert Warnock's name keeps coming up as a player who isn't happy with his current club. He's a Melbourne boy I believe and again yesterday Karl Langdon suggested he may well be looking for a new club in 09.

95 kg and 205 cms. Has managed only 12 games 07/08.

Thoughts?

We need to recruit an older ruckman who isn't completely useless like the Ackland signing, don't need another developing ruck.

The player we should be trying to bring back home from WA is Ben McKinley. He has already demonstrated in his short career that he is a multiple goalkicker. I remember the disappointment displayed by both his family & McKinley himself when he was drafted by the Eagles. I don't know whether he is out of contract this year, but if/when he is, we should send Juddy over to have a chat to him.

Warnock would be nice insurance for our developing rucks but what we really need is KPP.
Exactly Carlton needs to find or develop a key defender, I think Waite has been fantastic down in defence but Waite should be played at CHF to help fev out. I know we can't afford to take Waite out of defence but great CHF's don't come along every day. Carlton should persevere with O'hAilpin as a key defender or shop at the end of the season.

All true, Juddy must make sure he catches up with him after this week's game. PS: He even has leadership potential

Thy - a 205cm ruckman sounds great to me

I believe the club is monitoring the Matthew Leurnberger situation up in Brisbane closely.
As far as I can tell, he is out of contract at the end of the year, and was a massive Carlton fan growing up ...

He has to be our no 1 recruiting target at the end of the season, if he hasn't re-signed IMHO.

Brisbane would want too much for him i believe

Was a huge Carlton supporter. As much as we need KPP we'd have to go hard to secure this 6'8 freak. :thumbsu:

I would have thought that getting another key defender wouldn't have been as important as trying to get another forward, to try and give Fev a chop out, much like the Franklin/Roughead combo at the Hawks.

I like the idea on McKinnley, and he has most certainly shown in the past couple of weeks that he can play.

When can we get JK back? I feel confident in the occurence of a Trent Croad.

Think he's on a 2 year so not before the end of next year. He's a WA boy though.

I heard he lives a fair way off Perth, so it wouldnt be as much a factor. Besides, its been well publicised how much he never wanted to go and how he loved it here. Carlton should keep ties up with him for sure.

Warnock is a jet, and believe that if he decided to go, the dockers would want a price for him, probably a late first round pick i would think.
many believed over here that we would be better off trading sandilands and keeping warnie. but after friday nights game a few persepectives have changed. the rumour is also that warnie wanted to go to the demons because his brother is there.

Mitch Thorp anyone?

i like your thinking!! hawthorn have drafted excess amounts of chf types, thorp and dowler are struggling for a game because of franklin roughy and boyle talls are keeping them out. Thorp and dowler are both top 10 picks from memory, may be worth a nibble!!

another option would be to simply play setanta at chb, and waitey chf.

Jarrod Waite= CHF. O'hAilpin = CHB?

Setanta is not up to playing in defence. His lack of a natural feel for the game & the inability to consistently read the game make him too big a risk in defence. The fact that a totally out of form & disinterested Gehrig kicked 4 on Setanta in Round 2 clearly demonstrates he is not going to be a KP defender. I think he has to be persevered with in the forward line, preferably playing across HF, where he provides a mobile & big bodied target.

Don't think there's much of a chance Hawthorn will let Thorp go. Boyle is a much more likely type to be shopped around at the end of the year.

If Thorp did want to leave then you can guarantee Ratts will be after him.

Prior to that draft, HBF and I had a chat to Ratts at a Carlton function and Ratts said Thorp was the pick of the draft. Could not have spoken any more highly of the kid.

Wonder if he signed a 2 or 3 year deal...

please leave him alone :(
He had the opportunity to leave last year but didn't and signed on, after a year of more opportunities..why would that change? A friend of mine knows him through uni and he seems to be happy over here apparently.
