First Round
#1 Gold Coast: David Swallow (East Fremantle) Height: 186 cm Weight: 83 kg D.O.B: 19/11/92
Not much explanation needed. Third in their VFL B&F and fourth in the J.J. Liston Trophy. Best young player in the country.

#2 Gold Coast: Harley Bennell (Peel Thunder) Height: 180cm Weight: 70kg D.O.B: 02/10/91
Another given. Bennell was awarded AA honours and won the Larke Medal as the best player in the championships. A very exciting young talent who is fast, smart, has clean skills ad appears bound for the Suns. Named in the AA team.

#3 Gold Coast: Sam Day (Sturt) Height: 195cm Weight: 90kg D.O.B: 06/09/92
Day is a huge talent who has excelled at many sports but has chosen Aussie Rules. He is a very versatile and athletic KP who can play at both ends, he is also a great contested mark and has very clean skills. Another one who appears bound for the Suns. Named on the bench in the AA team.

#4 West Coast: Andrew Gaff (Oakleigh Chargers) Height: 183cm Weight: 78kg D.O.B: 16/06/92
Gaff is the complete midfielder, in my opinion. He wins plenty of the ball, he has great endurance and he is a fairly good kick to go along with it all. West Coast lack good kicks and they would certainly love to land Gaff who is known for being a great kick. Named in the midfield in the AA team.

#5 Brisbane: Dyson Heppell (Gippsland Power) Height: 186cm Weight: 82kg D.O.B: 09/01/92
Heppell is a highly skilled medium defender who can also play in the midfield. He has a lovely penetrating left foot, is also strong overhead, has clean hands and is very creative. He was outstanding in the U18 championships winning the MVP for Vic Country and being named in the AA team.

#6 Richmond: Jared Polec (Woodville -West Torrens) Height: 188cm Weight: 77kg D.O.B: 12/10/92
Polec is a fast running and goal kicking wingman who played an outstanding finals series for the Eagles seniors in the SANFL. He is a long penetrating kick who also possesses good balance and poise, and is definitely a player for the future. The best available midfielder (although Atley and Caddy are arguable). Named in the AA team.

#7 Gold Coast: Tom Lynch (Dandenong Stingrays) Height: 196cm Weight: 86kg D.O.B: 31/10/92
Lynch’s stocks have risen massively. He has only been playing Aussie Rules for about a year and has already shown signs that he could potentially be a very dangerous KPF. He leads well and is also very good at ground level for someone his size. The Suns need more KP and Lynch should go top ten after displaying after an impressive championships.

#8 Essendon: Shaun Atley (Murray Bushrangers) Height: 187cm Weight: 82kg D.O.B: 13/09/92
Atley is a midfielder who can play both inside and outside. He also loves the contested ball, is very quick, agile and is superb through traffic and there has already been comparisons made between him and Judd. He would be a worthy addition to the Bombers. He can also play stints in defence as noted by his selection in defence in the AA team.

#9 Gold Coast: Daniel Gorringe (Norwood) Height: 198cm Weight: 85kg D.O.B: 02/06/92
Aside from Fraser and young Zac Smith, the Suns lack ruckmen and Gorringe is by far the best ruckman in this year’s draft pool. In addition to his quality ruck work, he is also very athletic, smart and almost plays as an extra midfielder because he gives his team run and carry. Was named as the ruckman of the AA team.

#10 Gold Coast: Josh Caddy (Northern Knights) Height: 186cm Weight: 81kg D.O.B: 28/09/92
Caddy is a highly versatile inside midfielder who loves the contested ball and clearances, but can also go forward and take a mark. Could potentially go higher than this due to his talent. He is another worthy addition to the Suns’ young midfield brigade and he was named in the AA team.

#11 Gold Coast: Billie Smedts (Geelong Falcons) Height: 187cm Weight: 77kg D.O.B: 08/06/92
Smedts has the potential to go fairly high in this draft. He is a very versatile player who can play across half-back and can also go forward and cause some damage as he has kicked 5 goals in a game. He can also have stints in the midfield when needed.

#12 Melbourne: Jack Darling (West Perth) Height: 191cm Weight: 94kg D.O.B: 16/06/92
After an amazing 2009 where he was tipped to go top three this year, he went backwards. However, he is still a promising forward prospect who is strong, athletic and can provide lots of defensive pressure as well. Melbourne drafted midfielders in the first round last year so they would look for a KP option, and he would add some grunt to their young forward line.

#13 Gold Coast: Patrick McCarthy (Glenelg) Height: 194cm Weight: 79kg D.O.B: 11/03/92
McCarthy is a KPD who can also provide some run out of defence as well as possessing clean hands and feet for someone of his feet. McCarthy was named in the AA team.

#14 Adelaide: Brodie Smith (Woodville-West Torrens) Height: 188cm Weight: 79kg D.O.B: 14/01/92
Smith is a quality midfielder who is good at the clearances and has great breakaway speed. He also wins his own ball and provides run and carry. He has great endurance, and he has the ability to burst from stoppages. He should find his way to West Lakes, although with Rendell in charge, anyone could be picked up here.

#15 Geelong: Isaac Smith (North Ballarat Roosters) Height: 187cm Weight: 75kg D.O.B: 13/12/88
At the start of the year, he was playing country footy. Now, he has the potential to be drafted to the AFL after the Roosters picked him up due to impressive country football. He then impressed in the six senior games he played for them. He is a wingman with exhilarating pace with a long, penetrating left boot and terrific athletic ability. He has been linked to Geelong at this pick and given their history of drafting mature-aged players in the ND, most notably Taylor in the first round in 2007, then this pick would not surprise me as he fills a need as well.

#16 Port Adelaide: Jayden Pitt (Geelong Falcons) Height: 187cm Weight: 70kg D.O.B: 07/10/92
Pitt is a medium-sized midfielder who possesses elite kicking skills and is one of the best kicks in this draft. He is also a very clever player who has superb ability to read the play, possesses great pace. and can break the lines He could go as high as top 10 but I have him sliding due to his slight frame. A member of the AA team.

#17 North Melbourne: Kieran Harper (Eastern Ranges) Height: 187cm Weight: 78kg D.O.B: 05/06/92
Harper is an electrifying half-forward who is a very skillful and smart player who can provide bursts of speed, and can easily impact a game. Definitely the type of player that North could use up forward.

#18 Carlton: Matthew Watson (Calder Cannons) Height: 194cm Weight: 99kg D.O.B: 16/07/92
A CHB would be on the Blues’ list and Watson is just that. He is a CHB with a huge build in addition to his great closing speed and skills. These sorts of defenders don’t grow on trees and I can't see the Blues passing on him.

#19 Hawthorn: Jed Lamb (Gippsland Power) Height: 182cm Weight: 77kg D.O.B: 23/08/92
Lamb is an evasive half-forward who possesses qualities such as pace to burn, great goal sense, clean skills and an elite kick as he dominated the kicking test at draft camp. With Harper already gone, Lamb would be a great addition to the Hawks forward line. He can also play stints in the midfield.

#20 Fremantle: Luke Parker (Dandenong Stingrays) Height: 182cm Weight: 82kg D.O.B: 25/10/92
Parker didn’t have an outstanding championships but is still a great young prospect. He is an inside midfielder who has a high work rate and is a big accumulator of the ball. He would complement Freo’s outside running players such as Hill and Morabito nicely.

#21 Sydney: Reece Conca (Perth) Height: 182cm Weight: 75kg D.O.B: 12/08/92
Conca is a versatile player who mainly plays forward but can also play in the midfield and in defence. He possesses pace, great football smarts and his disposal can be damaging. A handy utility who would be a great fit for the Swans.

#22 Western Bulldogs: Mitch Wallis (Calder Cannons) Height: 185cm Weight: 79kg D.O.B: 24/10/92 (F/S)
The Bulldogs have a very good prospect on their hands here. He can win plenty of the ball, as noted by his 47 possession game in the TAC Cup GF, and his disposal efficiency is also very high. He is good at the clearances and also has a superb work rate. He would’ve certainly been a top 15 pick if it wasn’t for the F/S rule.

#23 Geelong: Mitch Hallahan (Dandenong Stingrays) Height: 182cm Weight: 77kg D.O.B: 23/08/92
Hallahan is a hard-as-nails inside midfielder who is courageous and is a high quality tackler. He was outstanding in the championships and was awarded with a place in the AA team.

#24 St Kilda: Dion Prestia (Calder Cannons) Height: 175cm Weight: 82kg D.O.B: 12/10/92
Prestia is a powerful inside mid who has great disposal and can win the contested ball. He averaged 28 disposals in the TAC Cup and he can also play as a small forward. He is very capable of becoming an elite, star midfielder and he also fills a need for the Saints as they lack genuine pace. Prestia has been likened to David Rodan and he is a player that the Saints would love to have in their midfield. He could go top 10 but I feel that his height might restrict him from going higher.

#25 Brisbane: Josh Green (Clarence) Height: 179cm Weight: 78kg D.O.B: 24/08/92
Green can play both as an inside and an outside midfielder. He possesses great speed, endurance and he can also kick a few goals as well. A fiery ranga who would be a great addition to the young Brisbane side. A member of the AA team.

Priority Pick
#26 West Coast: Lucas Cook (North Ballarat Rebels) Height: 194cm Weight: 82kg D.O.B: 03/03/92
West Coast are in need for a KPF given that Callum Wilson is their No.1 FF. Cook is a very agile key forward who is good on the lead and can take contested marks. A member of the AA team. Cook would be a great addition to the Eagles.

Compensation Pick
#27 North Melbourne: Warrick Andreoli (South Fremantle) Height: 182cm Weight: 70kg D.O.B: 28/02/92
Andreoli would suit North’s needs. He is a wingman with blistering pace, the ability to break the lines and is a great kick of the ball. North lack players with x-factor (Campbell, Thomas and Wells are too inconsistent) so Andreoli would be a great get for their compensation pick.

Second Round
#28 Brisbane: Sebastian Tape (Glenelg) Height: 189cm Weight: 78kg D.O.B: 06/08/92
Captained South Australia in the championships. Tape is a dependable shut down defender who is very similar to Dale Morris in the way that he is not tall enough to be a KPD, but shuts down smalls and talls week in and week out.

#29 West Coast: Jamie Cripps (East Fremantle) Height: 180cm Weight: 71kg D.O.B: 23/04/92
Cripps is a medium defender who has great speed and also has great speed and is very strong defensively. He is also a very good kick of the ball and would be a great addition to the young West Coast team.

#30 Richmond: Scott Lycett (Port Adelaide Magpies) Height: 202cm Weight: 95kg D.O.B: 26/09/92
Richmond’s ruck stocks are fairly thin as there are still question marks over Vickery and Browne, so they would want to target a young, promising and developing ruckman in Lycett who is the second best ruckman in this year’s draft pool under Gorringe. Lycett is a strong marking ruckmen who is agile and is incredibly competitive. He impressed in the championships and has already had a taste of senior footy with the Magpies.

#31 Essendon: Cameron Guthrie (Calder Cannons) Height: 186cm Weight: 79kg D.O.B: 19/08/92
Guthrie is a versatile player who is a very team orientated player, very reliable, hard working, consistent and can play a lock down role well as well as playing in a variety of positions. He is similar to Ryan O’Keefe from Sydney. Best available pick for the Bombers.

#32 Brisbane: George Horlin-Smith (Sturt) Height: 185cm Weight: 75kg D.O.B: 22/12/92
The hyphen has come from a promising cricket background representing SA in the U16 championships. In terms of football ability, he is a tough midfielder who is great at winning the contested ball and is also very creative. He can also play at either end of the ground. He has kept a relatively low profile so far but like Mackie, Davis and Howard, Horlin-Smith could be this year’s SA smoky so he could very well go in the first round.

#33 Melbourne: Ben Jacobs (Sandringham Dragons) Height: 186cm Weight: 82kg D.O.B: 09/01/92
Jacobs has been likened to Josh Drummond due to the position he plays (a medium rebounding defender) and possesses a long, penetrating left boot. He had an outstanding championships where he was awarded with a place in the AA team.

#34 Carlton: Luke Mitchell (Calder Cannons) Height: 196cm Weight: 96kg D.O.B: 28/02/92
Carlton need more KP’s in their side and Mitchell fits that bill perfectly. Mitchell missed out on the championships because he required shoulder surgery but he returned later in the TAC Cup season and produced some very promising performances. He is a strong marking tall forward who leads well and is also dangerous around goals. His main knock is the fact that he is a bit one-dimensional but that didn’t stop Lloyd and Fevola from becoming star full-forwards.

#35 Port Adelaide: Tyler Chalwell (East Fremantle) Height: 192cm Weight: 84kg D.O.B: 10/03/92
Chalwell is a smooth moving utility who has the potential to be a solid CHB. He spent the season playing in the Colts where he was named in the team of the year. As I said, he is a very smooth mover with a lovely kick and could turn into a Paddy Ryder type player where he can use his versatility to also have stints in the ruck where he played in the Colts.

#36 Port Adelaide: Alex Fasolo (East Fremantle) Height: 182cm Weight: 80kg D.O.B: 08/06/92
Fasolo is a midfielder who possesses good skills and likes the clearance work. He can also go forward where he can take a good mark and kick a few. Plays similar to Paul Chapman.

#37 Geelong: Alex Johnson (Oakleigh Chargers) Height: 193cm Weight: 82kg D.O.B: 02/03/92
Johnson is a persistent, hard-working forward who is very versatile and can play as a defender and even as a midfield in some cases. He also has an outstanding work rate and is very flexible. He looks a very likely type.

#38 Hawthorn: Angus Litherland (Claremont) Height: 192cm Weight: 80kg D.O.B: 12/10/92
Litherland is a tall defender who possesses great closing speed and is good at spoiling. He also shows ability to rebound from defence but he describes himself as a defender first. I like the way he plays and he should go top 40 and would slot into the Hawks defence with ease.

#39 Gold Coast: Ariel Steinberg (Bendigo Pioneers) Height: 191cm Weight: 84kg D.O.B: 26/08/92
Steinberg is a very athletic forward who spend 2009 playing gridiron in Alberta, Canada. He has good agility and is usually a good kick. The Suns would be happy to take a punt at #39 on Steinberg.

#40 Sydney: Aaron Young (Eastern Ranges) Height: 188cm Weight: 77kg D.O.B: 06/12/92
Young is a tall midfielder who can also play as a lead-up medium forward. He is an outstanding mark and is also very athletic. He is also hard at it as well as possessing pace. Best available pick here.

#41 Western Bulldogs: Thomas Liberatore (Calder Cannons) Height: 182cm Weight: 77kg D.O.B: 16/05/92 (F/S)
The Bulldogs are very lucky to get a top 15 quality player at #40 under the F/S rule. Liberatore is an inside mid who is good at the clearances and has quick hands. He is very good at winning contested possession and is a very team orientated player. A bargain for the Dogs.

#42 Carlton: Sam Crocker (Oakleigh Chargers) Height: 180cm Weight: 73kg D.O.B: 12/03/92
Crocker is a midfielder who has great pace, is a good decision maker and also has a long, penetrating kick. He can also play as a small forward where he is capable of snaring a few goals. One downside is that he has a very slight frame and might need some time in the gym.

#43 St Kilda: Patrick Karnezis (Oakleigh Chargers) Height: 191cm Weight: 77kg D.O.B: 23/04/92
Karnezis is a tall forward who has the ability to play CHF as well as a half-forward flanker. He is strong overhead and he also can kick some very sneaky goals. Reminds me of Nat Fyfe from Freo in the way he plays. The Saints have Riewoldt as their main key forward, Milne and Schneider as their smalls but they really lack that creative, medium forward and Karnezis fits that bill perfectly. A steal for the Saints and fills a need as well.

#44 Fremantle: Ben Newton (South Fremantle) Height: 182cm Weight: 70kg D.O.B: 08/08/92
Newton is a smart footballer who can play both inside and outside. He uses the ball well by hand, has a penetrating left foot and is very good at winning the contested ball. Most phantom drafts have him going higher so this is a steal for Freo.

Third Round
#45 Collingwood: Daniel Farmer (Sandringham Dragons) Height: 187cm Weight: 80kg D.O.B: 22/07/92
Farmer is a half-forward who is good who is quick and is very good one-on-one. He is also a smart forward and he knows where the goals are having kicked 17 goals in 10 matches across half-forward. No real needs for the Magpies so they will go for one of the best available players.

#46 Collingwood: Daniel Nicholson (Uni Blues) Height: 183cm Weight: 76kg D.O.B: 02/11/90
I haven’t really seen him play but he has attracted a fair amount of interest after a very impressive state screening after impressing with the Blues. He has been described as an agile half-back and midfield type player who runs hard and creates play.

#47 Richmond: Ryan Lester (Oakleigh Chargers) Height:191cm Weight: 83kg D.O.B: 26/08/92
Lester has been listed as a key defender but he will probably play across HB and be part of the midfield rotation, possibly with Deledio which is why I think that he would fit in very well with the Tigers.

#48 Essendon: Kieran Butcher (Peel Thunder) Height: 183cm Weight: 80kg D.O.B: 02/03/92
Butcher was the captain of the WA side in the championships. He is a strong all-round midfielder who possesses a good kick, great decision making and is clean in traffic. He suffered from injury at the start of the year but produced some solid performances when he came back. A bolter at #48 but another midfielder for the Bombers to work with.

#49 Gold Coast: Aaron Mullett (Eastern Ranges) Height: 183cm Weight: 71kg D.O.B: 23/02/92
Mullet is a medium midfielder who moves very smoothly who has very clean skills both by hand and by foot. He is also very team orientated and determined.

#50 Melbourne: Ed Curnow (Box Hill Hawks) Height: ??? Weight: ??? D.O.B: ???
A mature aged pick and a good one at that. Curnow was once rookie listed with the Crows but was released after just one year. He then made his way to Box Hill where he has been playing great footy, especially this year where he was the best player in the VFL before he got injured. Deserves another chance at AFL level and he would be a great addition to Melbourne’s midfield.

#51 Richmond: Viv Michie (Oakleigh Chargers) Height: 185cm Weight: 79kg D.O.B: 23/02/92
Michie is a very well rounded player who is versatile and can play a variety of positions, playing well up forward, in the guts and down in defence. He is a good reader of the play and also possesses a very good kick. Best available midfielder for the Tigers.

#52 Port Adelaide: Blayne Wilson (Peel Thunder) Height: 188cm Weight: 86kg D.O.B: 26/01/92
Continuing with the WA theme here for Port, purely by coincidence, Wilson is a medium defender who is a good user of the ball when rebounding from the 50 and is great in one-on-one contests. He was AA in 2009 but given the talent depth of this year’s pool, it was hard for him to back it up.

#53 Melbourne: Nathan Ahmat-Watkins (NT Thunder/West Adelaide) Height: 186cm Weight: 75kg D.O.B: 18/02/92
NAW is a versatile half-forward who has good footy smarts and also has excellent hands and awareness. He can also push into the midfield who can bring his team into the game and is a very team orientated player. A bit of a project player and one that is most likely to go lower but one that the Dees can definitely work with and develop.

#54 Geelong: Darcy Barden (Northern Knights) Height: 192cm Weight: 91kg D.O.B: 13/02/92
With Mooney and Pods getting on the old side and Mitch Brown very injury prone, Geelong would like to develop a young key forward. He is a very strong, competitive with a great work ethic and is very strong overhead. Very similar to Jonathon Brown in terms of his build and the way he plays. He isn’t very athletic but he is very competitive and powerful.

#55 Hawthorn: Matthew Rankine (West Adelaide) Height: 179kg D.O.B: 70kg D.O.B: 20/02/92
Rankine is a very quick and agile small forward who can also win the contested ball and is very strong overhead. A very similar to player to Jeff Garlett. With Hooper and Peterson both gone, the Hawks should be rapt with Rankine who is an exciting prospect.

#56 Fremantle: Justin Monaco (East Fremantle) Height: 192cm Weight: 86kg D.O.B: 07/11/92
Monaco is listed as a tall defender but can also play across HB. He reads the game well as well as providing good run from defence. He is also capable of playing as a tall midfielder where he can cause some damage.

#57 Sydney: Zac Fitzgerald (Woodville-West Torrens) Height: 192cm Weight: 85kg D.O.B: 16/02/91
Fitzgerald was overlooked in last year’s draft but represented SA in the championships this year. He is very versatile, excelling both as a key forward and a key defender, he is strong overhead and when playing up forward, he is an accurate kick for goal. With no desperate needs, the Swans can add some KP depth to their side.

#58 Geelong: James Podsiadly (Rookie Promotion)

#59 St Kilda: Max Otten (Oakleigh Chargers) Height: 191cm Weight: 83kg D.O.B: 10/11/92
Otten is the brother of Adelaide’s Andy and plays very similarly to him. He is slightly taller and he is a tall defender who is a left footer who reads the game well, makes good decisions and is a good link-up player. A good pick up at this point of the draft for the Saints.

#60 Collingwood: Jarrod Ninyette (Claremont) Height: 186cm Weight: 74kg D.O.B: 23/03/87
Ninyette is a mature-aged forward who provides x-factor, has good agility and damaging disposal. Over the past couple of years we have seen Ballantyne and TDL as mature-aged forwards who have dominated the WAFL and Ninyette could yet be another as he kicks bags in the WAFL.

Fourth Round
#61 Adelaide: Tim Milera (Port Adelaide Magpies) Height: 170cm Weight: 72kg D.O.B: 09/12/92
Milera is a skilful and clever small forward who is very similar to Eddie Betts in the way that he is a very creative small crumbing forward who can chase and tackle, and he could be the much needed small crumbing forward who the Crows are after. His only downside is his size, but his ability as a needed small forward is too much for the Crows to overlook.

#62 West Coast: Jacob Brennan (East Fremantle) Height: 188cm Weight: 82kg D.O.B: 24/01/90 (F/S)
To be honest, I haven’t seen much of Brennan but I know that he is a fast rebounding defender who played a crucial role in East Fremantle’s march toward the WAFL finals and played in WA’s U20 side.

#63 Richmond: Josh Mellington (Murray Bushrangers) Height: 187cm Weight: 76kg D.O.B: 29/12/92
Only just eligible for this draft, Mellington is a very clever medium forward who is very good one-on-one and he kicked 38 goals in 15 matches for the Bushrangers. A worthy pick for the Tigers.

#64 Essendon: Cameron O’Shea (Eastern Ranges) Height: 190cm Weight: 88kg D.O.B: 13/03/92
O’Shea is a defender who is strong overhead, has clean skills and a strong work ethic. He is also very determined and disciplined which is the type of player that Hird would love to work with.

#65 Brisbane: Claye Beams (Rookie Promotion)

#66 Hawthorn: Alex Browne (Oakleigh Chargers) Height: 188cm Weight: 86kg D.O.B: 09/08/92
Browne is an aggressive medium defender who attacks the ball, reads the play well and is a team orientated player. The Hawks have a lot of medium defenders such as Gibson and Stratton but don’t appear to have a Heath Shaw or Lindsay Gilbee-like defender and Browne is very similar to those players, but his kicking needs some work.

#67 Carlton: Cameron Johnston (Geelong Falcons) Height: 181cm Weight: 78kg D.O.B: 24/02/92
Johnston is a versatile player who can play in a variety positions including up forward where he can snag a few, and in the midfield and the back line where he can use his pace to break the lines. He is very athletic overall and he also possesses a long kick.

#68 Port Adelaide: Cameron Hitchcock (Rookie Promotion)

#69 North Melbourne: Tom Gordon (Oakleigh Chargers) Height: 194cm Weight: 91kg D.O.B: 19/04/92
There certainly are a lot of Chargers in this year’s draft pool. Gordon is a versatile KP who can play either up forward or down back. He is strong overhead and has a penetrating left foot. He played as a key forward in the TAC Cup where he was very dangerous and played as a key defender in the U18 championships.

#70 Carlton: Nathan Batley (Woodville-West Torrens) Height: 184cm Weight: 74kg D.O.B: 16/09/92
Batley is a project defender but one to work with. He is very quick and competitive medium defender who has good vision, can break the lines and can push back into defence very quickly to help out teammates. A very similar player to David Wojcinski.

#71 North Melbourne: Anton Hamp (Claremont) Height: 193cm Weight: 83kg D.O.B: 04/07/92
Hamp is a versatile KP who has great work ethic as well as his pace being a main feature of his game. His strong marking set-shots and determination are also features in his qualities. A KPF that North can work with.

#72 Fremantle: Kirk Ugle (Swan Districts) Height: 173cm Weight: 69kg D.O.B: ???
A slight bolter. Ugle is a utility player who can play at either end of the ground and he possesses clean hands, a damaging left boot and is very quick so he is in the Aaron Davey mould. His main knock is his size but could go late in the draft or in the rookie draft.

#73 Sydney: Ben Reid (Bendigo Pioneers/ NSW/ACT Rams) Height: 181cm Weight: 67kg D.O.B: 05/09/92
Reid is a small forward who is very smart, has clean hands, good skills and can read the play well as well as taking a strong mark. He needs to improve his core strength as evident by his weight but he has the potential to become a very clever small crumbing forward which would suit the Swans.

#74 Western Bulldogs: Paul Puopolo (Norwood) Height: 175cm Weight: 82kg D.O.B: ???
Puopolo is a 23 year-old small defender who had a very dominant year with Norwood and was a crucial part of getting them to the Grand Final. He may be short but he is well-built and is a very similar player to Johncock as he provides very good pace and shuts his opponent down. He will most likely be a rookie but at this stage of the draft, and after drafting two F/S’s that would’ve been top 20, a mature age pick wouldn’t hurt and he would be the ideal replacement for Harbrow.

#75 St Kilda: Hayden Yarran (West Perth) Height: 186cm Weight: 75kg D.O.B: 18/02/92
Yarran is a very clever small forward who is very accurate from a set shot and on the run and is also very creative. He can also push up to the midfield when needed, but that will take a while. If that can happen then I can see him turning into a more flashy Jason Porplyzia-type player who plays as a forward but can push into the midfield although, as I said, that would take a few years to develop.

#76 Collingwood: Ben Brown (Devonport) Height: 197cm Weight: 85kg D.O.B: 20/11/92
Brown is very much a project player. He played as a key forward for the first two games of the championships where he kicked five goals in one match to help Tasmania get over the line at Queensland but then got injured. He could also have stints in the ruck when needed. As I said, he would be a project player that will take a couple of years to develop but if he can develop well, then the Magpies could have a long term replacement for Leigh Brown.

Fifth Round

#77 Collingwood: Brad Harvey (Eastern Ranges) Height: 184cm Weight: 83kg D.O.B: 16/04/92
Harvey is a medium midfielder/defender who excelled in the athletic testing at the combine. There are queries on whether he is actually footballer or just an elite athlete. However, his strengths include providing run and carry for his team as well as winning his own ball and being competitive. Collingwood would be happy to take a punt here.

#78 West Coast: Callum Wilson (Rookie Promotion)

#79 Richmond: Michael Hibberd (Frankston) Height: 186cm Weight: 85kg D.O.B: 03/01/90
Hibberd was a standout in what was a horrible year for Frankston. He made the VFL Team of the Year and his run and impact off half-back could be a very valuable asset to a team and should be picked up either late or in the rookie draft.

#80 Essendon: Jimmi Savage (Norwood) Height: 195cm Weight: 78kg D.O.B: 09/10/92
Savage is a tall forward who is very athletic and has great endurance as evident from his excellent results in the beep test. He is very much a project player at the moment and he will need time to develop his light frame but the potential and ability is certainly there.

#81 Melbourne: Jordie McKenzie (Rookie Promotion)

#82 Adelaide: Ricky Henderson (Rookie Promotion)

#83: Port Adelaide: Danny Meyer (Rookie Promotion)

#84 West Coast: Andrew Strijk (Rookie Promotion)

#85 Carlton: David Ellard (Rookie Promotion)

#86 Hawthorn: Cameron Delaney (Geelong Falcons) Height: 191cm Weight: 81kg D.O.B: 19/06/92
Delaney, while raw, is a decent prospect. He is well composed with the ability to make good decisions when to mark and spoil at the correct team. If he just bulks up, he could turn into a quality key defender but at the moment, as I said, he is raw.

#87 Fremantle: Michael Barlow (Rookie Promotion)

#88 Western Bulldogs: Ben Casley (Western Jets) Height: 190cm Weight: 89kg D.O.B: 18/03/92
Casley is a utility who can play wither as a medium defender or as a lead-up forward. He provides run from defence and is a strong marking forward as well.

#89 Western Bulldogs: Sam Menagola (East Fremantle) Height: 194cm Weight: 83kg D.O.B: 07/03/92

Menagola is currently very raw but there is a lot of upside. He has great endurance as evident from 15.6 in the beep test, he’s very clean below his knees and the Dogs would be happy to take a punt on him.

#90 St Kilda: Kyle Hartigan (Werribee Tigers) Height: 194cm Weight: 89kg D.O.B: 07/11/91
Hartigan was surprisingly overlooked altogether last year but after an impressive year with Werribee in the VFL, he should find his way onto an AFL list, most likely through the rookie draft, but there is a chance of him being picked up with a late pick. The Saints probably should address their KPD deficiency and Hartigan also has senior VFL footy under his belt so this would most certainly by a worthy selection late in the draft.

#91 Collingwood: Lachlan Keefe (Rookie Promotion)

Sixth Round

#92 Collingwood: Jarryd Blair (Rookie Promotion)

#93 West Coast: Lewis Stevenson (Rookie Promotion)

#94 Richmond: David Gourdis (Rookie Promotion)

#95 Essendon: Isiah Stevens (Swan Districts) Height: 183 kg Weight: 75kg D.O.B: 09/09/92
Stevens is a livewire forward who recorded outstanding scores for power, speed and marking. Consistency is said to be an issue but he is likely to go around here due to his x-factor. He is similar to Jurrah and Peterson.

#96 Melbourne: Jake Spencer (Rookie Promotion)

#97 Adelaide: Matthew Jaensch (Rookie Promotion)

#98 North Melbourne: Ben Speight (Rookie Promotion)

#99 Cartlon: Jeff Garlett (Rookie Promotion)

#100 Fremantle: Matt De Boer (Rookie Promotion)

#101 Sydney: Mike Pyke (Rookie Promotion)

#102 Western Bulldogs: Andrew Hooper (Rookie Promotion)

#103 St Kilda: Travis Johnstone (Brisbane Lions) Height: 184cm Weight: 83kg D.O.B: 17/07/80
The delisted Lion has nominated for the ND in hope of getting a chance at a third club. The Saints need some depth as their bottom 5 players are very ordinary, and despite Johnstone being 30, he provides better depth than the likes of Peake and McQualter as he is capable of putting in an outstanding performance unlike the said players.

#104 Collingwood: Tom Young (NSW Scholarship Promotion)

Seventh Round

#105 Gold Coast: Ryan Gamble (Geelong Cats) Height: 184cm Weight: 83kg D.O.B: 23/09/87
Delisted by the Cats, and I think that the Suns are the club that is most likely to give him another chance at AFL level. The Suns don’t have many options up forward and Gamble should be a serviceable forward for them while the likes of Day and Lynch (if selected with #7) develop.

#106 Essendon: Ben Howlett (Rookie Promotion)

#107 Adelaide: Luke Thompson (Rookie Promotion)

#108 Carlton: Simon White (Rookie Promotion)

#109 Fremantle: Alex Silvagni (Rookie Promotion)

#110 Western Bulldogs: Brodie Moles (Rookie Promotion)

#111 St Kilda: Tom Simpkin (Rookie Promotion)

Eighth Round

#112 Fremantle: Jay Van Berlo (Rookie Promotion)

Honourable Mentions:

The ten players who were next in line.
Josh Walker (Geelong Falcons) Height: 194cm Weight: 84kg D.O.B: 12/11/92
Walker is a tall forward who has terrific work rate and is very strong as a lead-up forward. If not drafted in the ND, he should find his place on a rookie list.

Myles Sewell (North Ballarat)
The J.J Liston Trophy winner has another outstanding season in the VFL and should get picked up as a mature-aged rookie with the possibility to have the same impact as Barlow.

Andrew Phillips (Clarence) Height: 200cm Weight: 91kg D.O.B: 03/07/92
Phillips is a tall and fiery ruckman, fiery because of his hair, who is a project player but impressed for Tasmania in the championships. He can also take a contested mark up forward.

Jonathan Giles (Sturt) Height: 200cm Weight: ??? D.O.B: ???
Giles was by far the most dominant ruckman in the SANFL this year and deserved another shot on an AFL list and, unlike his time with Port, could play quite a few AFL games.

David Kruse (NT Thunder) Height: 190cm Weight: 74kg D.O.B: 23/01/92
Kruse is an attacking tall defender who is very versatile and athletic. He can also push up into the midfield when needed. Another rookie pick-up.

Charlie Riewoldt (Clarence) Height: 183cm Weight: 74kg D.O.B: 23/09/92
The brother of Jack and cousin of Nick. Unlike his bother and cousin, he is not a KPF, he is more of a third tall up forward. The talent scouts have rated his creativity and his inherent goal sense. After a quiet start to the championships, he kicked eight goals in the last two matches to make his name pop up as a potential draftee, especially considering the successes of his relatives. He still has a very light frame and has a lot to work on, but his name alone will attract attention from some clubs.

Jamie Solly (Port Adelaide Magpies) Height: 190cm Weight: 80kg D.O.B: 27/07/92
Solly is a versatile tall forward who is capable of playing as a key forward or a third tall or in defence. He has strong hands overhead and is also an accurate kick for goal. Very similar to John Anthony in the way that he is accurate and can play up forward and down back.

Thomas Schneider (Oakleigh Chargers) Height: 178cm Weight: 77kg D.O.B: 30/09/92
Schneider, despite being small, is a courageous inside midfielder who was very impressive in the championships covering for the loss of Prestia who went down with injury and won himself a place in the AA team. He doesn’t really have any elite aspects but you know you will get 100% commitment and effort from him. Should be picked up as a rookie.

Jacob Gilbee (Lauderdale) Height: 183cm Weight: 76kg D.O.B: 13/09/92
Gilbee is a lead-up forward who possesses strong hands and good goal-kicking ability. He provides good defensive pressure inside 50 averaging four tackles a game during the championships. He can also have stints in defence. He had a very impressive championships and could be picked up late in the ND but is most likely a rookie pick.

Callum Sinclair (Port Melbourne) Height: 199cm Weight: 93kg D.O.B: 23/09/89
Sinclair is a mobile key forward who is strong overhead, reads the game well and is generally an accurate kick for goal. A mature age player who should find his way as a mature aged rookie after some impressive performances for the Borough.

What a terrific rundown, well done!

For Fremantle, I would suggest that we wont take pick 72, we need that pick for the PSD and John Anthony.:D

Would much rather have Ben Jacobs than Gutherie. Think Ben Jacobs has slipped a long way. If essendon took Atley and Jacobs on draft day i would pick one more player promote howlett and then run

I will update the final couple of rounds after all of the PSD picks have been announced.

I would think the hawks would not use pick 88 as we will no doubt go for Cameron Bruce! However... i think you did a fantastic job.

I would be VERY VERY happy with Lamb Litherland and Rankine! Sounds like a very good draft for Hawthorn if we got them... Would like to see us take a punt on Shannon Rioli... Not just cos of his name... he looks quick and can get his hands on the ball and has a good kick. Not well rated in BF at all tho...

Super effort mate :thumbsu:

Loving Carltons first two picks that our tall timber for the next ten years! Ben Jacobs going a bit low but there will be one midfielder that will drop and could easily be Jacobs, Parker or Cripps.

Hopefully someone will give Kyle Hartigan a crack!

Excellent work "roo2macca" :thumbsu:. I still think that I might prefer an outside speedy winger to a strong inside midfielder (which is what Gaff appears to be) with our first pick, but I like your reasoning.

Great job mate. One thing though, Watson's kicking isn't something he needs to improve on. It is definitely a strength of his and he is definitely one of the best kicks in the draft, the knock on him is pace.

Otherwise a great effort and I would be pretty happy with Carlton's draft if it turned out this way.

My bad, must have been thinking of someone else:p.

Well written, great draft to read. Isaac Smith I will be very pleased with, think Hallahan is a goer although we may well go tall at that pick.

Johnson is a good option.

Barden is ok, although if we go KPF at the last pick I think it'll be Josh Walker, not just because of the family connection, but because I think he's a slightly better player.

WOuld be interested to here Saints supporters thought on the idea of drafting Trav Johnstone. Could be a real win win.

Good work all the same rootomacca. Would be happy with that draft for the Dees.

Darling AND Jacobs??!?

Dream result - will never happen.
We'll never know if Jacobs could've lasted thatong because the dees will take him at pick 12.
