This is my first ever phantom draft so here goes...
#1 Melbourne: Jack Trengove (Sturt) Height: 185cm Weight: 82kg D.O.B: 02/09/91
Trengove had an excellent carnival and has already starred in the seniors for Sturt which shows that he will be a star. The Dees could very well shock with this pick.
First Round
#2 Melbourne: Tom Scully (Dandenong Stingrays) Height: 182cm Weight: 74kg D.O.B: 15/05/91
If they don’t pick up him up with pick 1, they will with pick 2.
#3 Richmond: Dustin Martin (Bendigo Pioneers) Height: 187cm Weight: 86 kg D.O.B: 26/06/91
Martin is one of the best kicks in the draft, and on both sides as well, and is a terrific footballer overall.
#4 Fremantle: Anthony Morabito (Peel Thunder) Height: 190cm Weight: 9kKg D.O.B: 29/10/91
Freo are guaranteed to take him. He is a local boy and has pace an x-factor and with him and Hill in the same side, they will be dangerous.
#5 North Melbourne: Ben Cunnington (Geelong Falcons) Height: 186cm Weight: 84kg D.O.B: 30/06/91
Cunnington is the best available and North would want to inject some great quality into their young midfield. With his courage and toughness at the ball, he has been likened to Bartel and Sewell and would suit North.
#6 Sydney: Gary Rohan (Geelong Falcons) Height: 186 cm Weight: 79kg D.O.B: 07/06/91
The Swans have a lot of in and under type players so they will be happy with Rohan who is a flashy outside player.
#7 West Coast: Kane Lucas (East Fremantle) Height: 188cm Weight: 79kg D.O.B: 26/06/91
The Eagles will be pleased to snare Lucas. A home grown classy outside midfielder.
#8 Port Adelaide: John Butcher (Gippsland Power) Height: 197cm Weight: 84kg D.O.B: 03/07/91
Port will be happy that Butcher will slip to their pick. Butcher is a strong marking key forward who would be the ideal replacement for Tredrea.
#9 Port Adelaide: Luke Tapscott (North Adelaide) Height: 180cm Weight: 86kg D.O.B: 28/06/91
Port will pick the home grown boy here. Tapscott has a huge penetrating kick and is usually very dangerous when he has the ball. Can also assist in the midfield because of his big body.
#10 Essendon: Lewis Jetta (Swan Districts) Height: 178cm Weight: 72kg D.O.B: 04/05/89
Might be a risk at #10 but with Lovett traded to the Saints, the Bombers would love to land Jetta. The dynamic wingman would be a great replacement for Lovett and can also snare a few goals up forward.
#11 Melbourne: Jack Carlisle (Calder Cannons) Height: 196cm Weight: 83kg D.O.B: 01/10/91
After drafting midfielders with their first two picks, the Demons will draft the next best available forward and Carlisle is just that.
#12 Carlton: Daniel Taila (Calder Cannons) Height: 194cm Weight: 89kg D.O.B: 02/10/91
The Blues will be glad to pick Taila. The versatile defender/forward is a good prospect and will play similar to Hurley.
#13 Adelaide: Koby Stevens (Gippsland Power) Height:187cm Weight: 83kg D.O.B: 18/06/91
The Crows went tall last year so they will definitely be going smaller in this draft. Never know who Rendell might take with a first round pick but the crows will go for the best midfielder left and Stevens is just that. Will add great depth.
#14 Sydney: Jake Melksham (Calder Cannons) Height: 182cm Weight: 69kg D.O.B: 29/08/91
Melksham’s stocks have risen after an impressive TAC Cup Grand Final. Melksham is a gun midfielder with good endurance, agility, balance and is also good at the clearances. Might need to work on his frame a little bit, didn’t know he was that light.
#15 Western Bulldogs: Allen Christensen (Geelong Falcons) Height: 176cm Weight: 75kg D.O.B: 19/05/91
No real needs for the Dogs so they will pick a mid. Christensen is a speedy outside midfielder that adds x-factor.
#16 Port Adelaide: Bradley Sheppard (East Fremantle) Height: 186cm Weight: 78kg D.O.B: 23/05/91
Will go for the best available. Don’t need a ruckman with Lobbe and Redden developing. Sheppard is a fine rebounding defender, good by both hand and foot.
#17 Geelong: Nathan Vardy (Gippsland Power) Height: 198cm Weight: 89kg D.O.B: 25/06/91
Geelong should go for a ruckman. With Mumford traded, Ottens ageing, Blake no good and big question marks over West, Geelong will not hesitate to pick up the number 1 ruckman.
The other rounds are currently under construction so the other rounds should come fairly soon.
