Ross mentioned that he was one that lifted in the last. Ie his first 3 quarters were poor. In regards to Sutty, I respect that everyone has there own opinion, but for mine, he couldn't hit a target and couldn't stick a tackle and all round was very ordinary (in my opinion of course).
Hey its an opinion business ;)
Look I probably shouldn't be commenting yet. I watched the game with the sound off while I was making dinner for my lady so I missed a lot but I just have a bit of a theory that when we are losing and the commentators and crowd are heavily biased against us people form overly negative opinions that get revised when watching again with the knowledge we won. Certainly when I was looking Hill was in the thick of it and doing his usual 1 percent stuff in close as well as defending down back and seemed to be involved in some good transition. I only comment because I was thinking it was good to see him back to having an influence after a few quiet weeks. Anyway the fact he lifted and was a factor in us winning in what was a torrid last quarter speaks well to his character and effort. When he's at his best its sometimes not necessarily the beautiful runs or long range goals but more the smothers and clearances that distinguish his better games for me.
Sutty was taking the game on as usual but perhaps with the weather his disposal was off. I'm going to watch the replay so will have more idea. He only had 12 touches and 3 tackles and his fantasy points score or whatever the AFL use was down near the bottom end but similar to Spurr and Mayne so it wasn't a disaster but yeah its not a great game going off the data.

Sutty should get dropped for his pansy like effort at a 50/50 contest midway through the last qtr.

Mayne should be in his ear about team before self.

Sutty was ordinary tonight and has been below par for most the season.

He had a couple of good second efforts that I saw. The tackle on Lynch was great, as was the smother on VB.

These are not shown in the stats but it does mean he is still having an impact with out the ball.

Sutcliffe was poor last night but has credits in the bank. However that's 2 poor games in 3 weeks. He had a couple of mind lapses (not manning up, not positioning well) and kicked a few turnovers. He also had the contest in the 4th quarter where he didn't attack the ball hard enough.

That being said, normally he is one of our hardest runners from defence and takes the game on. We need him in the side when the whips are cracking, maybe just a tad down on confidence.

Correct re: Hill, and I'm normally a supporter of Sutty and think he gets a rough go around here but he was "off" last night. One of his poorest since establishing himself as a regular player for us.

I don't think any of our SA boys had a good night.

He needs to be dropped/rested.

Thought Sheridan was good and finally starting to get his hands dirty. Was one of those players before who cared more about his hair than playing.

I hope they make changes this week. I feel as though we'll need some fresh legs.

Out: Walters, Duffield
In: Crozier, Mzungu

Is Walters injured? Cause you couldn't possibly justify dropping him? 7 goals last 2 weeks.

I think there may be a few changes due to sore body's.
Gu will come in I think, not sure who for

Obviously that's what I think.

I actually think we may rest Macca or Johno this week - bring in Dawson and sit them on Griffiths, and the other goes to Reiwoldt.

Rest one of these guys. Johno maybe this week - Macca for the suns game coming into the bye giving him another 2 week break?

I can also see Mz or Croz coming in - if Son son is tight - give him a rest for a week or two heading also in the bye.

I think RTB will be looking at the bye very strategically and how we can best utilise it. Very lucky to be in this position!

I'm not sure Spurr will get up for this week. He could barely walk after the game. Sutty wasn't that bad. He did a fair bit off the ball & kept Betts busy when Spurr went off limping. If it's wet weather, leave Tabs at home till he learns how to mark

D.Pearce's game was pretty good in the circumstances I thought, a few moments where he did his fumbly sloppy kicking thing, but mostly he was very in the game and influential for the good of the team. His work rate was massive.

Old school footy guys won't like me saying this but Sutty spending nearly the entire game on the ground every week allows our more flashy players to look better and win us games. They get the rest and burst impact.

I don't expect crisp clean play from a guy who is exhausted all game but our game plan doesn't require it, it asks for clean crisp use from guys further up the ground.

I might be wrong about him spending the whole game on the ground, might.

Sutcliffe, McPharlin, Johnson, Ibbotson and Spurr spent about 95% of the time on the ground.

IMO if no injuries, selection policy should generally be to drop three worst players from each game substituting 3 best performers from Peel- a constant rotation. On that basis –

OUT: Clarke/ Taberner, Sutcliffe, Duffield

IN: Mzungu, Crozier, de Boer

Freo has been very fortunate with injuries this year. Only downside many worthy players not getting a game so there will be a heap of disgruntled guys heading east at season end - better to play in a poor team like Carlton than run out for Peel week after week.

Out: Duffield
In Mzungu
Sub Sutcliffe
The only trouble with this change is that we lose too much rebound from defence with Duffield out and Sutty only playing a quarter, although Mundy could be sent back a bit more to make up for it.

Sorry but lol.

We don't make unforced changes after wins, let alone 3 every week. Why mess with a winning formula to that extent?

Because if Freo get a heap of injuries late in year they won't have anyone to come in with recent AFL experience.

Thought Taberner was ok. If he could ruck I reckon Clarke would have got subbed not him. Don't think anyone will get rested unless sore. We have two more games before a rest. Still think Gu should get a run though and I don't like watching Crozier rot in the twos.

It's an incredibly fine balancing act.

I think Duffield is being phased out. He is no longer taking kick ins and is not being used out of defence. Clancee is receiving it more off half back.

I'd have Sheridan in (not because I think he's better but it's obvious he is rated highly and was best 22 at the start of the season). Duffield is the one that comes out and Mzungu would be an ideal sub and a true utility should an actual injury occur during a game.

I think Sutcliffe has become the whipping boy and perhaps rightly so but I can't see him coming out of the side. Seems a pet favourite.

If Ballantyne isn't going to play closer to goal and be a genuine small crumber I'd actually play Crozier as think he may offer more in that role. Plus Ballas has been off and lost a bit of that mongrel and goal sense.

Our best 25 is pretty much what we have had the last few weeks. I hope Dawson and Crowley dont find a way back in.

All of that said I hope we have an opportunity to find games for Mzungu, Crozier, Weller, Blakely, A.Pearce and many others. You need a solid 25-30 players to get you that Premiership.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this post is a deliberate parody.
