Cant be adding the last 3 to that list. They are still very young and working on it. Pou will be a very good player so will Wilson
Phillipou started strongly and has been quite injury prone the last 2 years now though.
Wilson started very strong last year and has been average this year.
Collard is averaging 5 disposals and has kicked 1 goal over the previous 6 games.

I'm not writing them off, but history at St Kilda and under Ross Lyon isn't on their side either.

Look at how good Long has been for us compared to at St Kilda, and we're another team with some historically questionable development.

Pou was pretty good on the weekend and Wilson is a second year player going though the blues. Remember how bad Humpher was last year?
Just seems like adding them in at such an early point of their career is silly. I dont rate Collard at all tbh but once again, so young.

St Kilda's problem has been development more than anything.

They've had a stack of super promising players, and few if any ever seem to kick on. On their current list of good players who actually developed under St Kilda, they have; Jack Sinclair, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera and Rowan Marshall.

Their other high level players, Jack Steele, Jack Macrae, Callum Wilkie, Brad Hill were all traded in to the club.

One of the best examples of this is Jack Billings. He is so maligned by the club and the wider AFL community for being the person they took before Marcus Bontempelli but if you actually look over his career, he was pretty exceptional his first 4 years in the system and then just got worse and worse.

Were it not for some goalkicking yips, in his 3rd year he averaged 23 disposals, kicked 23.36 and had 22 goal assists as a HFF.

Thats pretty elite.

you fast forward another 4 years and he's then averaging 18 touches, kicked 11.6 for the season and only 6 goal assists.

Just completely got run into the ground. It's no different to any of the other elite talent they've had come through the door the last few years; Paddy McCartin, Hugh Goddard, Daniel McKenzie, Hunter Clarke, Nick Coffield, Jade Gresham, Ben Long, Max King, Matthew Macleod-Ellison, James Van Es, Ollie Hotton, Mattaes Phillipou, Darcy Wilson and Lance Collard all either didn't kick on, or started extremely well and then trailed off into obscurity.
James Van Es was their pick for Ben Long

Yeah, way too early to judge. Look at Jeffrey this year, haha. People wanted to get rid of him, will not make it, and so on.

But the point remains re. development
Phillipou averged 13 touches and kicked 13.8 in his first season
2nd season he averaged 14 and kicked 8.8 but only managed 13 games through form and injury
3rd season he missed 2 months through injury to start the year.
It may be premature but it's still a pattern regardless.

Even still, remove them and look back further than that.

Jaimie Cripps
Seb Ross
Nathan Wright
Spencer White
Jack Billings
Luke Dunstan
Blake Acres
Paddy McCartin
Hugh Goddard
Daniel McKenzie
Hunter Clarke
Nick Coffield
Jade Gresham
Ben Long
Max King
Matthew Macleod-Ellison
James Van Es
Ollie Hotton

that's their list of top 25 picks over the period since 2010. Their development has hurt them much worse than any draft inequities could.
