I'd continue but it's awfully hot in here all of a sudden.

I think it is a bit unrealistic to have high expectations of Sheridan. Still lots of time, and the 2011 draft looks pretty weak so far and has not produced many players who are having a big impact yet. We could have chosen better than Sheridan, but the odds are that we would have chosen someone worse if we went for an alternative.
Anyway, that's all irrelevant to whether he should be getting a game or not. If Sylvia, Morabito, DeBoer and Clancee were firing, then it would be clear that Sheridan is out. But for now, we can probably carry him and still get the wins on the board, so it doesn't really bother me too much if he gets a few more games.

Easy, when Hill kicked the sealer in the Qualifying final against Geelong last year one of our players makes a extended and powerful gut run off halfback which enabled him to be there to force the defender to have to choose between guarding space and closing Hill down. He then dropped in to sheppard Hill's chaser. It might not be a banana on the run from 50 on the boundary but it was damn good footy in a high pressure situation.
He may not be your contested footy cup of tea but he has good skills, a big tank and most importantly knows when to get on his bike. I hope both he and Crozier turn out to be better than average players for someone taken around their position in the draft, at the moment to me from what I have seen it looks like they will both have solid careers. Thats not the same as being below par.
I would use the exact same passage of play to illustrate my frustration with Tommy's lack of footy nous.
When Hill breaks into open space, Sheridan could have (a) run toward Hill to shepherd Christensen or to give the option of a handball or (b) sprint to ward goal to give a short kick option for Hill. Sheridan instead jogged slowly whilst flailing his arms about despite clearly not being in a position where anyone in their right mind would kick to.
Great example. The kid has a lot to learn.
You are being very harsh, Christensen was not within 20m of Hill as Fyfe had already shepherded him. Sheridan ran away from the other Fremantle player who was on the far wing to stop the one cats defender from manning them both up and provided a kicking option should Stephen want to kick straight away.
Once it was clear Hill would not pass to him, he shepherded him.
Well I have played footy and I don't care to have my opinion denigrated in such an offhand fashion. Your and pavsbootlicker view is blinded by your prejudice. He ran to the correct position to either receive or force the defender to make a decision about what he was going to do. Where else should he run? The fat side out of range? Straight off the ground without passing go to retire since he is clearly crap?

Not that it matters, but not me. I find how much you criticize Sheridan difficult to understand. I'll have a sportsmen bet with you that Sheridan will play 150 AFL games. Again, I think your expectations for a player who is yet to turn 21 significantly off base. Agree to disagree though. I think he is tracking really well and I've been really impressed when I've seen him play for Peel. I was at the game where he had 23 possession in less than 50% ground time, and in that game he definitely showed elite acceleration to break away from congestion and then kick the ball superbly into the forward fifty. I definitely had the feeling 'geez that kid will be awesome in a year or two' when I watched him play.
Im surprised that there has not been more attention on Spurr and his form in this thread. He seems massively down on confidence in both his marking and his kicking. Again, yesterday he turned the ball over a couple of times in the first quarter. The Bulldogs didn't hurt us on the scoreboard, but the better teams will if he continues his recent form. Im a massive fan of Spurr BTW, but I think he would benefit from a couple of games at Peel to regain confidence. It would not be a massive surprise to me if he was dropped this week, with Sylvia to come into the team and either Sheridan or Crozier to play the sub role.
All the talk on Sheridan not being a star player or trade bait is crazy . This kid has done everything the coaches have asked of him and more , he's added weight and strength to a very light frame since he was drafted , he has improve his fitness and maintained his speed over the ground .
Let me remind you all of Fyfe's build when he was drafted and how long it took him to develop his body to the beast he has become .
Sheridan is not in Fyfe's league when it comes down to pure talent but he has the makings of a better than average footballer .
Sheridan is well above WAFL level that's for sure and he won't leave any stone unturned to prove to the coaches or his team mates that he belongs in our team .

Yet his footy hasn't improved one iota. He is the same player he was last season.
Which is ok in itself, he is handy. But even some incremental improvement would be good.
Based on what exactly?
There you go again, speaking like you actually know this. It's a bad habit.
Ive watched him train and watched him having discussions with coaches and then go out there hard at it .
I had a talk with Roger about how he is going and he has impressed everyone at Frem with endeavour to improve and his work ethic in the off season .
When you get a chance to get up close to him have a good hard look at his muscle development Sliced , this kid as added a minimum of 3 to4 Kgs of muscle on his frame from last year .He constantly is talking to senior players asking for advise during training .
Bull Shit ,
Sherridan was doing exactly the right thing offering a lead into space and then when the offer was not accepted gave a good shepherd .The arms were waving at get Hilly's attention .
What would have been worse would have been if he didn't try to get Hills attention and went the full blown hip and shoulder on Christensen risking a free kick
There's no meat left on that bone, Bushie. It was one poor decision. You sound like he's keeping one of your own kids from getting a game, but reality is he's better than what's available to replace him (at the moment). Unless you want to see this:
OUT: Sheridan
IN: Sylvia
I don't think Brady Grey is even close to being close to the level of player Sherro is at the moment. At WAFL level Grey has often started a game well and then gone completely missing for three quarters in games this year.Disagree. I'd quite easily give Grey a game ahead of both of them.
