It may be 2 weeks away but i thought id create this thread.

I am really worried about this game as the Swans were horrible against Collingwood last year but i know we can win as the Swans are playing alot better than last season and Collingwood are playing abit worse.

In terms of lineups i hope to see Spida back in the team and we will probably end up dropping Bird (though i dont really want to see him dropped.

If the Swans win this game then we are premiership contenders.

I definitely think we can beat the Pies. They are in struggletown at the moment, and I think we will rebound nicely from yesterday's average performance after our week off. Gives some tired bodies a chance to rest.

I'm desperate to beat them as well, although maybe not so desperate as grimlock...

Well im super excited about this game as Pies are my 2nd fave team...im so lucky getting all my big matches of the year so close 2gether

now as i pies fan ill tell you from games ive watched how the pies like 2 play and how we need 2 shut them down

We love to burst through the middle and come storming through and take goals quickly, like the swans we also like to take our ball around the edges of the ground and then get it inside 50 quickly! Players like Didak, Medhurst, Dale Thomas and Leon Davis need to be shut down quickly and our defence needs to stand strong against Rocca (if he plays) Travis Cloke, Scotty Burns and Dane Swan. Heath Shaw in defence is very strong quick to get the ball away so we need someone strong on him, we also need to shut down the run and carry of the midfeild Rhyce Shaw and Marty Clarke...its going to be tough to match up against the pies but after our two losses to Carlton and The doggies moral is low and i think after a bye they will be a little weak

We need to take the bye to our advantage go in strong and not back down and as soon as we start playing we have to figure out their game plan and break it down fast...this game will set up our 2nd half of the seasons its make or break time!

GO THE SWANNIES! *cough* go pies *cough*
so excited to all the hotties i wont be able 2 contain myself

Just another game that will run us (Collingwood) back into form.
Some things to note :

1 ) We seem to regroup after a bye
2 ) We match up well against Sydney
3 ) We've only lost 1 game at Homebush

Bring it on ! 2 weeks of friendly banter

Those 3 losses last year were among the worst I have ever witnessed. Worse still, we didn't seem to learn anything from the previous game and played exactly the same - it was dumb footy.

I still have nightmares about that game.
- Fat Rocca kicking 6.
- That one trick pony Rusling destroying our defence.
- Bevo kicking across the face of goal and stuffing it up.

I would love nothing more than to bury their finals chances in this one and the return one in Melbourne.

You've lost 2 - 2004 and 2005

The last time we beat the Pies was back in 2005, by one point. C'mon Swannies, we can do better than that!

It will be very difficult with goodesy gone for something which IMO was u/10 contact. Rocca has torn us apart the past few meetings and I'm glad he'll be out. But I think we have enough quality players to cover goodes's presence (hopefully). Will be very tought to come away with a win vs the pies.

The tester of the season so far. Tho IMO swannies will lose this one my friends. Pies are our nemesis, Goodes in the grandstand, still 4th even if we lose, going on track record and being realistic, pies will start favourite and rightly so. IF the bloods can win, they are the real deal in 08. I will watch with curiosity, but wont be putting my hard earned lobsters on this one.

Sighhhh ....

IN: Barlow or Schmidt.
OUT: Goodes (suspension)

Pretty sure Barlow is on the injury list?
Maybe he'll be right by then.

It may even be a case of Everitt in for Goodes, have O'Keefe play Goodes role.

Aah, true. With Jolly/Everitt freed up, we'd have another rotating forward target to replace O'Keefe. He pretty much plays as a mid anyway.

i think we should beat the pies this time around, last time it was their forwards that got us with rocca, rustling and didak running rings around us. without them our defence should cope better, midfield needs to break even and hopefully bazza wit two games under his belt can dominate. ps roosey please play craig bolton on the other sides most dangerous forward don't allow another incident like bate on the weekend kicking 5 without any of them whilst craig was on him , so i'd be setting craig for didak

I know people will disagree with me but looking at Collingwood's forward line i think the Swans need to have Luke Brennan in the team. Look at this

Collingwood's top goal scorers
1. Paul Medhurst - 35 goals - 179cm
2. Leon Davis - 22 goals - 177cm
4. Alan Didak - 18 goals - 184cm

Those are 3 small forwards who i dont think the Swans have good matchups for. Our backline is far too tall. Brennan is one of our smaller defenders (184cm) and i think we need him in the backline to mark one of those 3 forwards.

  A real test against Collingwood and Goodes gets suspended. I'm absolutely spewing about this decision. At the same time, he deserved it for being such a knob head and getting reported 3 times this year. Somethings up and the Swans psychologist should be sacked!

Morale was low seven days ago, but the side dug deep last night and really gained plenty of confidence. We were without a fair few (inc. unfit players) of our best XXII and ran the second best side to within two kicks. We have nothing to fear.

Yeah, the night Buchanan cramped up with seconds to go!: rolleyes::mad::o

But it should be a good match; traditionally (2003, 2006, 2007) we burst out of the blocks, and then you peg us back. I'm fairly confident, though, we won't back down, and with Davis back, and some fresh legs for Swanny, Didak and co after a week off, things might improve. Dawes will probably play; whether or not he is ready is debateable, but it'll be interesting to watch his (IMO) probable debut. Wakes'll be back for Hall, you'd assume.

And he was just adjacent to the Collingwood crowd. :D

So what about Rocca? How's his ankle? Do you think he'll heal in time for this match?

what !!!!!!!
I don't think there has been a slower small backman than brennan coupled with the fact that he can't read the play or kick the footy. didak gets either kennelly or bolton same for medhurst depending on who's playing deep and bevo takes davis, but please no brennan remember rustling last year

Didn't Brennan get a hammy during the game?

I think Brennan has been playing okay in the reserves, but IMO, has a long way to go before he comes back into the senior side.

Provided that Rocca doesn't play, it'll give us relief because you'd think Roos would only put Leo on him. Richards on Rustling.

Jack on Thomas. Please, we need to stop this guy.

why do u think he did his hammy he could'nt keep up and by then rustling had 2-3 goals in the first quarter and missed plenty, rustling is injured isn't he and i agree on thomas maybe if not jack ablett can tag him or mcveigh

I think we (Pies) should get up in this one. We have the 'wood' on you and seem to bounce back very well after byes. Plus, Goodes has carved us up the last few meetings, his out is very big.

^^^is2SWaNz-Re: Rocca, out for 2 months is what i've heard.

I feel sick admitting it, but I agree. I've never wanted to be proven wrong more in my life.

Cloke will be back too. Roberts-Thompson will handle him.

Jack going with Thomas might be a good idea, we need someone that is going to hurt him defensively too as he will leak like nothing else on the rebound.

Bevan will get Davis.

Bolton will go with Medhurst.
Mattner might get Didak.
