Hi all

I'll be writing personalised thank you notes in the coming days to all who have generously donated.

Secondly, we promised you a podcast. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties this podcast is unlikely to be able to be published. Sadly, our podcast is only a small part of the malfunction and I'm devastated for the individual who has had this issue. They were very generous with their time last Wednesday evening and their effort to pull this together is tremendously appreciated regardless of the sad outcome

That said, it was my very first time really verbally communicating my story pibliclym. I very much enjoyed the experience. I want it to be known that I am in the process of working with my partner to put some audio - and potentisally some visual - together where we discuss the journey that we've been on over the last few years

The podcast shall be delivered but it will unlikely be in the format that was originally intended

I have no exact timeframe for this last project in mind. I need to say that although I have been the beneficiary of some positive health news today that I am suffering some quite debilitating vision issues of late. I am currently category 1 on the opthamology waiting list at the PAH and believe that it'll be anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks before I am operated on. My optom and GP have advised that they believe once the eyes have been operated on, macular repositioned and the eyes scraped and refilled with artificial gel that I should recover much of my original vision.

In the meantime if I am posting less frequently please excuse me as this is why. I am finding it an incredible struggle to read something as simple as a letter in the mail let alone this site.

I have Wick next to me. Our GP put him straight into ER to see opthamologist asap. His vision is completely distorted.. I'll try and update here or let Dramoth know as info comes to hwnd..

Edit; He has to go to the specialist eye clinic in the morning. The doctor feels he might be declared legally blind at that time.

I am currently considered legally blind. Have turned dark mode on which has helped me read the sitte. Eyes not taking in light at all well.

Specialists have said that my eye issues have been caused by diabetic retinopathy combined with high blood pressure causing that style of retinopathy. One impacts the front of the eyes the other impacts the back so I'm doubly ****ed.

The specialists say they cannot reverse all of the damage but believe that through surgery, cornea replacement and laser treatment that I'll get some of my vision back.

A bit more chill today after being terrified yesterday.

Edit: the definition of legally blind doesn't really mean as much as what you'd think. It means I can't see at 6 meters what a person with normal vision can see at 60. I didn't know that until this morning. When the doctor told me last night that he thought I would be it scared the s**t outta me.

Unfortunately the podcast wont be uploaded. The recording was completely scrambled when the hard drive evidently decided it was time to go. Ive had techs look at the drive and we've been unable to resurrect that data - in the process also losing every other podcast recording Ive ever done.

You guys missed a great podcast, it was fun and informative, other than Jeremias evidently phoning in from Neptune. Cant apologise enough to Jeremias, MrsEddieBetts and especially Wickzki - your time and conversation was greatly appreciated. Hit me up if you want to try again some time.

A couple of things

First and foremost, I wanted to apologise to those of you who I haven't reached out to thank for donating yet. I promise I'll get to it.

Secondly, I'm scheduled for eye surgery at the PAH on Monday. Originally I was going to have the right eye operated on and then they were going to operate on the left when the right was good to go.

Unfortunately with my medjc emergency a couple of weeks ago they've changed their minds. The left needs a vystrectomy first and foremost. The damage is coming hard and fast on that side (when I lay down I can now see splotcjhes of blood impacting my vision, etc.).

So after pre-qfmission today it has been fe used that I'll be having a vystrectomy in my left eye on Monday as well as laser eye surgery on both eyes.

I'll be a pirate for a few weeks on the left but Google tells me that laser eye surgery shows signs of visible improvement within 6 hours or so of surgery..

I don't know how long I'll be off BjgFooty for after this week but I wanted to share my love and appreciation of you all and to wish you and the club the best of luck while I'm away.
