The match was won/lost in the third quarter when we kicked something like five-straight. Melbourne's inability to break this momentum we had when we were dominating the centre clearances was the main reason they lost the match. Our boys deserve credit for this mini-blitz in the 3rd and the resulting win.

Surprised to see how harsh people are being on Steinberg, thought he was pretty good. It was only, what, his 4th/5th game?

Can someone explain to me what exactly Chris Dawes' role is for Melbourne? I'm honestly confused. I know he plays forward, but he doesn't really kick goals, doesn't take too many marks, or really lay tackles. His stats are very similar to Patrick Ambrose, yet there is a 420K difference in their salary.

Had a lot of costly clangers, outside of that he was good. Hopefully you're right and it's due to only having limited match experience rather then having a limited ceiling.

I suppose he got that contract on the back of the couple of good years he had at the Pies?

Judging from his stats in 2010-2011 he had some serviceable years, but nothing warranting a 500K price tag. Averaged 12 disposals, 5 marks and less then a goal a game in his final year at Collingwood.

Part of being shit and having a bunch of kids is that there'll be a whole lot of salary cap left over. Personally if I played AFL and was a role player in a premiership team I'd leave for a gig at a club like Melbourne. 500k for a few years and some negative gearing could set you up for life. You've already got a flag in the bank.

It's why I don't respect the "premiership player" tag. Goddard probably won't ever win a flag in his career, yet he single handedly tore open a grand final and would be a much better coach in the future.

Spot on.

And people want to include Giles - It's scoring from clearances that count and we won that by 3 goals.

Just watched the replay in its entirety and the missed goals costing them is a bit of a myth in my opinion. 3 of there 18 behinds were rushed, a lot of the misses were either snaps out of packs, bombs from outside 50 near the boundary or snaps from the boundary. Vince was probably the worst miss given he was running into goal 30m out by himself. The most important stat was we kicked 9.1 from 10 set shots and they kicked 5.6 from 11. So did they lose it with poor kicking or did we win it with good kicking?

A very fair candidate for the most overpaid player in the league is what he is.

Trust me. We have no real idea either what exactly he is for (I call him Neeld's revenge)

If he does something about the hairdo, I will give him all the time in the world
