You also don't rest players when a top 4 spot is so tight and they get a break in three weeks. Resting Pav to get his nose right...you are joking right?
He was clearly hampered with his nose packed with gauze, and I can sympathise. Darwin conditions are going to be worse. He's been good this year, but he was a bit of a liability yesterday.

If he had gotten the FK's he deserved, he would have kicked 3 or 4 easily. Not saying it was his best game, but he was completely shafted by the umps all day.

Battled manfully against multiple opponents and brought the ball to ground to allow Ballas to do his thing, not sure I'd say liability because it's not like MacKenzie was running off of him setting up the play upfield. I wouldn't bring McPharlin back for this even if he can play, Silvagni can come in for one last game.

Pav tried to wrestle with McKenzie who I rate as one of the better at it in the competition, even Pav wasn't going to do any better than even the contest.

He didn't have much choice a lot of the time. Every time he got separation we would get a quick kick out of a pack that went straight over his head into the waiting arms of McKenzie.

I agree that Pav was manhandled all day and got zip from the umpires. The delivery was not to his advantage a lot too. There were also plenty of times when he just didn't seem to have it in him to chase and apply pressure.

Then it's a question of team balance. I shot my mouth of last week telling Reg that Mora isn't ready. As a sub I'd rather see Col or Suban there than Clancee. If Col and Suban are in the 21 it then becomes an issue of having the right player for the sub. I'd say let's go with Mora. In the case that he's not in because he has KPI's to hit then bring in Sheridan, Grey or Croz as the sub. I think Clancee is a better player but not a good choice for the sub. At least the above mentioned can give us some run in the last quarter.
You had the courage of your convictions to stand by your position without crying about it, I respect that.

I'd actually prefer to see Mora start and sub him off if he looks cooked late in the third/early in the fourth. Then the question of whether he can last the full game will be answered.

There's no one sufficient to replace him.

The Apeman begs to differ! In all seriousness, we went ok without him for an extended period last year. We are also playing Melbourne. Not getting ahead of myself, but if we were going to 'rest' pavs nose, then against one of the bottom teams (who are also travelling) might be the right time. Gumby kicked 4 behinds and had a reasonably good day (apart from his inaccuracy) and the Apeman has been solid for the last month or so. I reckon we could cope.

However tonight's result shows we should not rest anyone. We need to go full speed ahead and try and smash everyone
!!! Hit finals full of confidence.
Port going down shows anyone can be beaten. Someone has to beat the swans soon and it's game on

But I wouldn't mind trying Grey, Apeness and Grey sometime over the next few weeks. Just to see what we have up our sleeve if we get some late injuries

Hmmm could it be possible that a few of us might be cheering the Eagles on next weekend?

Should be a pretty brief selection meeting this week. If Silvagni and McPharlin both available Silvagni to replace Taberner and Morabito or De Boer to replace Clancee. McPharlin not risked on a wet ground.
Dry season in Darwin ATM. Busy tourist time.

Looking at the amount of time he spent stretching, and on the bench yesterday; one.could conclude that Ballantyne is carrying a bit of discomfort ATM. He us one whom we definitely can't afford to lose at the point end of the season. On that basis alone, rest Ballas. What options have we got for a forward pocket replacement? Crozier?

I'd say definitely need to rest Clarke, he wasn't right. I don't think I saw him jump once in the second half of the game and his running didn't seem all that good even at the beginning. Looking at the stats he had 6 hit outs, various other players had 12 combined so I'd say that supports that he was having trouble jumping.

I hope we are not complacent and don't rest players for the sake of it. Teams pull surprises all the time this year. A loss would be disastrous. In fact anything less that 50 points would be.

Take no AFL team lightly

Throw D.Pearce in a pocket and play Mora on a wing.

C'mon Simmo! Do you honestly think Ross takes anyone lightly?
