Review Round 17, 2018: Sandringham Zebras v Box Hill Hawks, 28 July 2018, 2.10pm @ Trevor Barker Beach Oval

After having last weekend off, the Hawks are back on the road again with things tightening at the top of the ladder. In fifth spot, the Hawks sit a game behind Williamstown and have the superior percentage, but lead Collingwood and Port Melbourne only by percentage (with Port Melbourne having played an extra game).

The Zebras are in a position where they're unable to make the eight but can certainly influence it, starting with an upset victory over the Hawks. A loss to Box Hill and wins to Collingwood, Port Melbourne and Essendon could push the Hawks as far down as eighth, but the Hawks do have a superior percentage compared to Footscray and North Melbourne, so the lowest the Hawks could fall with a loss is eighth. A win could see the Hawks clamber back into the top four. The Hawks have a testing run-in to the end of the home & away season, playing Collingwood next week, the Demons in round 20, and the Cats in round 21 (with a game against Werribee to come in round 19), so a win tomorrow will be crucial for setting up a platform towards a run at the VFL premiership.

Sandringham copped a belting at the hands of league leaders Richmond last week, going down by 66 points, so they will be keen to atone for last week's effort.

This match will be broadcast live in Victoria on Channel 7 from 2.00pm. There will also be a radio broadcast on 3WBC 93.1FM.

Final teams to be named before the bounce.

Hawthorn's VFLW team play a curtain raiser tomorrow morning from 11.45am against the Southern Saints. The Hawks had last weekend off and consequently slipped to third on the ladder, behind Collingwood (eight wins from nine matches) and the NT Thunder (eight wins from 10 matches). The Southern Saints could well prove to be a banana skin for the Hawks, as they currently sit seventh, with four wins from nine matches.

A rare away match that I usually attend but as it's on the telly will watch from the comfort of the couch this week :) (Although it's such a nice day kind of wish I'd decided to go after all )

GO HAWKS!!!

At 10.30 Q1 we saw why Willsmore should not be on an AFL list. Had an arm stretched to intercept a Zebra pass. Saw an opponent coming and pulled the arm back and did not even contest.

GO HAWKS!!!

Great to have a decent game on TV, better than the game at the MCG,

The only problem is that Channel 7 only seem to have a couple of cameras, and nothing high, so it makes the game look a bit messy.
