Last time out, the Hawks held off a fast-finishing GWS Giants team in Western Sydney to secure their tenth win of the season and move a step closer to finals football under first-year coach Zane Littlejohn. The Hawks now sit three games and percentage inside the top ten and at least one game inside the top six. The Hawks are currently tied with the Casey Demons and this week's opponent, North Melbourne, on ten wins, with Casey holding on to fourth spot by percentage from Box Hill and North Melbourne. It's pretty tight at the top of the VFL ladder, with the top six teams separated by two games (albeit the Suns have a percentage of 178.1% and the Lions have a percentage of 171.6%, so they're miles in front of everyone else in reality).

The Giants held a slender quarter time advantage over Box Hill last time out, leading 2.4.16 to 2.3.15 at quarter time. The Hawks eventually took control of the game in the second quarter, and edged to a 19 point lead at half-time. It was a tight tussle in the third quarter, with the Giants clawing their way back into the game, only to see Box Hill extend their lead to 29 points at three-quarter time. The Giants had the better of the last quarter, coming to within eight points before the fourth goal to Brandon Ryan in the 26th minute of the final term sealed the win for Box Hill.

In the meantime, North Melbourne cruised to victory over Geelong down in Geelong. It was reasonably close for the first three quarters, with North Melbourne holding a three point lead going into the final quarter, but they turned it on in the final quarter, kicking seven goals to one and almost doubling their three-quarter time score, to run away with the win (15.11.101 to 9.4.58). North Melbourne dominated the possession, with North Melbourne having the four highest possession winners on the ground (including Ben Cunnington, who had 26 disposals for the VFL team as he works his way back towards a return to the AFL at some stage before the end of the season). Former Hawthorn player Daniel Howe was also prominent for North Melbourne, having 23 disposals, taking seven marks and laying six tackles for the game. North Melbourne had the firepower up forward to turn their possession dominance into goals, with Tyler Sellers and Robert Hansen Jr each kicking four goals, while Kayne Turner added a couple. North Melbourne dominated the game aerially, racking up 114 marks to Geelong's 48 marks across the course of the game.

As usual, the game will be streamed live via the AFL website and app, and 3WBC 94.1 FM will have a radio call of the game. Teams to come.

To say this is huge game is an understatement. Teams are coming and coming hard.

North have a cracking lineup in today as well - Goldstein, Cunnington, Greenwood........

In saying that we have a pretty fair team in ourselves, should be a cracker.

Wow. It's a really good test for Long, Huss, Stephens and co.

If we don't win this, I'll eat my hat.

Josh Morris kicks a ripping snap from the tightest angle.
Badly needed goal, we've been getting smashed in contested ball combined with horrible disposal.

There's been a few interesting calls early
three consecutive against Jiath that were pure fiction.

1st one, he was tackled AS he received the ball, so no prior.
2nd one, legitimate hand ball called a throw.
3rd one, holding the man when he wasn't holding the man.
