The Hawks hit the road again for a match against the GWS Giants at Giants Stadium. The Hawks had a reasonably comfortable 23 point win over Port Melbourne at Box Hill City Oval last weekend, to bounce back onto the winners' list after dropping their most recent away game to the Suns on the Gold Coast, although the Borough did kick the last three goals of the game to narrow the margin by the final siren.

For their part, the Giants had a heavy lost to the Casey Demons, going down by 16 goals at Casey Fields last Sunday. Casey took control of the game early, jumping out to a 16 point lead by quarter time and then kicking five goals to one in the second quarter to put the match beyond doubt. The Demons poured it on in the second half, kicking 12 goals to two after half-time in a loss that will surely sting the Giants, who still harbour hopes of finishing in the top ten. The Hawks, for their part, sit fourth on the ladder, a game behind Werribee, a game and a half behind second placed Brisbane and two games off top spot (held by the Suns). The Hawks hold onto fourth only by percentage from Casey and North Melbourne, while the Giants sit outside the top ten on percentage only (though, to be fair, they are almost 30 percentage points behind Collingwood and Carlton, so in reality, the Giants need to win at least one more game than both Collingwood and Carlton to reach the finals).

The Giants will be keen to atone on their home ground for a poor loss to Casey last weekend and this could be a potential banana skin for the Hawks on the road. For their part, the Hawks relied on Denver Grainger-Barras to kick goals against Port Melbourne and, assuming he isn't called up to play for Hawthorn, it will be interesting to see if he remains as a forward or whether he returns to defence. Similarly, Jai Serong looked impressive playing as a defender for Box Hill and he will be keen to continue this promising start against the Giants.

The game will be streamed via the AFL website and 3WBC 94.1FM will have a radio call of the game. Teams to come.

Kozzi named FB. Interesting.

Quite a tall forward line as selected but of course they may not line up that way. I guess an interchange bench of five allows greater flexibility to rest the ruckmen. I look forward to seeing how they line up if it is wet up there.

Although they got belted last week, the Giants have a very strong side in today and teams who get humiliated are always dangerous on the rebound

How long is Beasley out as we desperately need him back to stiffen our backline

Watching these umpires throw the ball to each other on the way back to the middle, no wonder they never ping the bulldogs. They should be made to handball it to each other so they know what it looks like.

Jeka intercept marking & field kicking a delight off the backline.
Surely he gets a crack before seasons end ahead of Frosty
He’s really good as a CHB. Out of key position players in game today he’s by far our best talent. Just needs to get his body right. Kosi has 2 touches to half time. Yikes!
Stephens and O’Sullivan both decent.
