I agree with resting Sandi....mainly because its being a long season already and we have some bigger games coming up. The benefit also would be that Griff gets some AFL game time, just in case (Heaven Forbid!!) something happens to Sandi or Zac betwix here and the finals....would prefer taking Griff in knowing he had a game or 2 under his belt.
I like Colin staying in, but would like him to get more on-ball time.....maybe rest Danyle....Looked a bit sore so maybe a week to overcome any niggling issues. "General Soreness"...the great statement when resting players :)

"Already missing a host of premiership stars, including Sam Mitchell, Cyril Rioli, Josh Gibson and Brian Lake, the Hawks faced the Giants without midfielder Jordan Lewis, who was a late withdrawal."

The Hawks weren't near full strength.

They were also missing some bloke called Clarkson for the first time.

Can't afford to have both D.Pearce and Hill out.

Gotta be careful not to underestimate GWS too much. They did beat Sydney after all (even if Sydney weren't at their best then). They certainly have some amazing players, they're just young & inconsistent. You don't want to rest important players then realise GWS are having an "on" day.

That is true but how much do you think we drop bringing Griffin in for either of our rucks? How much do we gain by playing him?

I don't want to underestimate any of Hawthorn, geelong or Port, and am keen to have our best players available and fresh.

You beat me to it, after listening to Ross on 6pr I would say that Pav and Johnson are not guaranteed to play either.

I went down to training today. It wasnt a major session, but Pav looked fine and trained with the main group. Johno wasnt out as far as I could tell. Pav seems like a certainty this week for mine. Johno, will be touch and go and Hill a definite non selection.

Pav for Apeness. Mora into the 21, With De Boer into the 21 for C.Pearce. Sylvia to play as sub are my tips.

Pavlich and Johnson are expected to come back. Apeness is expected to stay.(Lyons words). So what two players get the boot? C. Pearce and Morabito?

IN Pavlich and MJ

OUT C Pearce Sandilands

Trial the 2 big forwards with Apeness pinch - hitting in the ruck. Give Sandilands a rest.
This is looking very likely. People say Sylvia but I think he was solid and I reckon Morabito will get another crack at sub. On top of C. Pearce there isn't anyone to drop really, so resting Sandilands is more than likely going to happen.

Coach Lyon said after the Darwin game Mora would play v GWS and the issue is whether he plays a full game. With Apeness coming in, maybe the boss is going for talls over smalls, which would then seem that Colin Sylvia is vulnerable -- unless Sandi is this week rested. Definitely time to see what Pav and Apeness can get up to together -- Apeness has earned it. Sylvia, much as we all want him to contribute in a meaningful way, still really hasn't.

Will be an interesting selection if Apeness stays in.
It's only 2 weeks till a split round, so not sure on resting anyone? Maybe a mid is sore & comes out so Sylvia goes in the middle?
Ins - Pav & Johnson
Outs - CPearce & ?

De Pig is also pushing for selection from reports. Pav, Johnson and De Pig all in line. Clancee should really be given a couple of weeks to get back to AFL pace and provide depth. Makes for interesting dilemma.

I hope Apeness stays in. Will be interesting to see him play along side Pavlich who will ease up a bit of the defensive pressure

Mundy didn't train. Maybe he will have a rest with mora or Sylvia covering his midfield spot

I think the ape may kick a few with Pav taking some defenders off him

Excited to see something new this week

Looks like Dawson might be due for a General Soreness week.

That would be the tall out for one of Johnson or Pav, just leaves possibly Clancee as the remaining one to go.
I don't think Dawson is prone to soreness, he's not old yet and let's be honest his play style isn't taxing on the body. Just because Johnson is a tall that doesn't mean he's replacing another tall defender.
