Opinion Round 17 Changes vs. GWS

We haven't exactly had the most consistent side this year, both in terms of personnel & ability (coughnorth) and while we should absolutely towel up GWS, every game's a danger game because we can just as easily drop out the top 4 as we can make top 2. It'd be good to get all the players some time playing together, rather than resting guys because they'll get a rest in a couple weeks anyways, and you don't want to hit finals and realise that someone doesn't know how our kick-in likes a lead, or how to hit Pav with the ball.

And I love Silvagni. Under Harves I thought he was going to end up a gun 3rd tall for us, and was upset as well when Dawson took his spot, so hopefully he gets better quick and takes that spare spot. If we can keep him in the side, I can see him quickly becoming a staple part of our back 6.

No sign of Elvis on the track.
I had to leave early but caught up withone of the coaches and raised the subject of Taberners hard hands and I suggested something to help ease his hard hands.
I think a change of coaching is on the cards at Peel at the end of the season.
I will try and find out more

I admire your motza Coulda. I can't imagine how often those guys get advice from the man in the street.
I had a bloke behind me a couple of games ago who was using the people who normally sit there's members passes.
He obviously doesn't watch much footy but he spend the whole game telling anyone who would listen what Ross was doing wrong, what Pav was doing wrong, whatever pretty much everyone was doing wrong.
I would be afraid of coming off like one of those guys if I attempted to give my wisdom to a professional.

What's the go with Clancee Pearce. Was outstanding a couple of years ago but has really dropped off. Is he outside your best 22 now or just trying to regain fitness? Just wondering as I was really impressed with his work back in 2012.

It's not all doom and gloom for Luke. He's out for a few weeks; he'll come back A-grade against Geelong.

It's only if he injures himself then that it becomes a tissue of an issue.

???huh so it must be a bad injury to keep him out of the side again.....:-(...jeez if he can't string two games together anymore the forecast isn't looking too good....Its a shame cause the club had no idea at the beginning of the week we'd have these injuries!

This is all ok - would prefer Luke and Ibbo in, but excited as all get out to see Mora and The Big Apeman in action.

If Mora goes for a run down the northern wing and bombs one from 50 through the city end goals (this is positive visualisation at its finest cos that is right near where I sit, and it will be reminiscent of that goal as an 18 year old in the 2010 final against Hawthorn), then I will seriously lose my shit. In a good way of course.

Macca seems to be o.k but not good news for Ibbo :-(

Fremantle has made two changes for Sunday’s game against Greater Western Sydney, with stars Matthew Pavlich and Michael Johnson returning to the side.
The players out of the team were Luke McPharlin and Garrick Ibbotson, who both have calf injuries.
The emergencies for the Patersons Stadium game will be Hayden Crozier, Matt Taberner and Alex Pearce.
Freo general manager of football operations Chris Bond said McPharlin’s injury was minor, but Ibbotson could miss a few weeks.
“Both players pulled up a bit sore from the game in Darwin and it tended to get worse throughout the course of the week,” he said.
“Scans came back to show there’s been some damage in their calves.
“For Luke, it’s quite minor, we’re expecting that he can hopefully get through training next week and put his hand up for the game in Melbourne.
“With Garrick, we’re going to have to wait and see. It might be a few weeks injury, but he’s very committed to his rehab and we’re hoping that he can do everything right and get back sooner.”
The loss of the defensive duo was tempered by the return of All Australian Johnson.
“Michael’s obviously a very important player to our team and will be an important player for the rest of the year,” Bond said.
“He’s been able to get through training, especially this week but also most of last week, as well.
“We’re expecting him to come in really prepared and be able to get back to his best.”
Bond said Pavlich, who missed last week’s game through illness, had trained well all week.
“He got through training, he’ll be fine,” he said.
Young forward Michael Apeness will play his first game in front of the Freo fans.
Bond said the 19-year-old would benefit from playing alongside Freo’s captain this week.
“A young forward playing next to someone like ‘Pav’ has got to be only good things for them,” he said.
“It’ll be a great experience for him. He’s got a really solid work rate, he runs very hard and he’s a great kid.
“It’s just rewards for the work that he’s put in at Peel.”
