Well he does have a higher cruise speed than Michie & a different type of player. He is not competing with the likes of Mundy, fyfe & Barlow for a spot in the side. His skills are also better than viv

I disagree that Sherro has better skills than Michie, I actually think they are evenly balanced in that area with Michie a physically stronger player who gets more of the ball.

Sherro hasn't played that great at AFL level, in fact he did very little against Carlton. I am not disappointed that Sherro has had the opertunity to play but not sure how much he adds to Freo as a sub. JC was close to getting a game this week and may get a gig for a player if they pull out before Sunday's game. JC has played to decent games at WAFL all season and Michie has been in Peels best most games even when the team is getting flogged. So he's not a front runner.

I'm not suggesting Michie should be in the 22 but some other players getting named is no better if anything has performed poorer this season than Viv.

You may have unintentionally hit on a point there... Perhaps we're looking at this the wrong way. We're all kind of looking at it in the following way: Either Sheridan plays or Michie plays. We won't play both at the same time long term and Michie is really only likely to get a game if Barlow, Fyfe and Mundy have problems...

What if, as you say, because Sheridan has elite running ability he eventually takes Mzungu's spot? In that instance it would be like for like (although Mzungu has a handy knack of bobbing up at the right place in the forward line). In this instance Sheridan is actually gunning for Mzungu's role. If he surpasses Mzungu then surely Michie is the next choice for midfield duties as back up for Mundy, Barlow and Fyfe.

Sherro has a long way to go to even draw even with Muzungu.

I agree that Sheridan struggles as a sub & was poor last week as a sub against the Blues.

With Sydney losing tonight.....20 goal win tomorrow pls.

If Freo win the rest of their games then all Sydney have to do is lose 1 more game this season for Freo to climb over them. Sydney play both Geelong and Hawks the last 2 rounds. You never know top 3 even top two is very posible.

Yeah just did some quick sums... Sydney lost about 5% tonight... If Fremantle wins by a conservative margin of 70 points they will gain 5-6%... Suddenly, that 20% gap is halved... and with games to come against Melbourne and the Saints... that's easy to make up.

Top 2 is what we want. Basically we need to overtake Sydney on % and hope they then beat Geelong. Or Hawthorn loses 2 (which is also very possible).

I spotted this in the Peel V Swannies match report in the Worst:

It is believed Crichton was withdrawn because he is on standby to replace an injured Fremantle player for tomorrow’s clash with Greater Western Sydney at Patersons Stadium
.

No injury for Crichton and he might play tomorrow. Most likely as sub to replace Mundy.

No, it's not. Maybe they're still concerned about his fitness. Maybe they don't want him to play anywhere but inside mid.

He averages 3.87 tackles per game at WAFL level.
Sheridan averages 2.27
Sutcliffe averages 2.5
Neale averages 0.85

There is nothing wrong with his defensive game. He's arguably our best young player in that regard, along with Schloithe.

There is a difference between tackling and defensive game as you know perfectly well. He could be getting 38.7 tackles a game if he is not running hard on the defensive transition and or making himself accountable for his opposite number at lost stoppages he is not going to get picked. Now I am not saying he is not doing these things since you can only make that judgment viewing the player in the flesh and I've only seen a couple of Peel games on the telly (although if Centurions thinks so its good enough for me), but it is a more logical explanation than incompetence or a childish vendetta on the part of the entire match committee.

Now's the chance for GWS to show us whether that "battle of the bridge" rhetoric is just PR rubbish
If they hate Sydney as much as they say they do they'll lie down tomorrow and let us win by 150
That battle of the bridge thing would make allot more sense if they weren't both based on the same @%%#*@ side of it. Unless its meant to be the battle of ANZAC Bridge.

Fremantle and Geelong have similar type runs home .
FREO play GWS ,MELB, PORT {AT HOME} and STKIL.
GEELO plays PORT , WC , SYD {AT HOME} and BRIS

Where as Sydney and Hawthorn have the hardest games to play
SYD play COLL , STKIL ,GELONG [AWAY] and HAWTHORN
HAW play ST KIL ,COLL , N.MELB , and SYDNEY.

The results so far this round show how hard it is for Sydney .

Hawthorn will have to be on their guard with only 1 game separating them and Geelong .

Hawthorn can't afford to go easy and rest any players till maybe round 22 .

Geelong is in the box seat to go number 1 and be able to rest a few players but Hawkins must be a worry for them with his poor form due to him playing injured .

We can't afford to drop a game or take our eye off the game plan for a second but the way RTB has the team going we are headed for top 2or at worst TOP3 . RTB and the assistant coaches need the guys to keep pushing hard on the score board

And what's your arguement as to why he (and the match committee) hasn't? Because flaw. Seriously you think its obvious to us but somehow they're missing it? He is not playing either because he is not fit enough, not doing the defensive work properly, won't sign a new contract, there is no role he can fill in the side open or some combination of the four, nothing else. Saying it's a 'flaw' is idiotic trite reasoning to get around the logical fallacy that somehow a random keyboard bashing footy fan knows better than the coach and match committee.

I can't argue you on technicality. Michie is a sound performer, and deserves a full game. It's as simple as that.

I agree. I was responding to two separate arguments.

In the one live game I've watched, Viv's defensive pressure was great and significantly better than Sheridan's. He also tackles well and often. In my possibly ill-informed opinion he is a better tackler than most of our young fellas and he has no deficiency defensively.

And as I stated earlier, I don't believe the match committee is incompetent. They are in a much better position to judge than we are. If I had to guess, I'd suggest he's not playing because he's probably not deemed flexible enough to play a variety of roles (ie. he's seen as an inside mid only). Maybe his 2 years out of the game has left his fitness too depleted to play an outside role.

Long story short... I dunno.

Loving Sydney and Hawthorn's tough stretch - just like last night I can see these teams getting worn out trying to hold onto Top 2/4, before finally stumbling deep in September. That leaves us to face Geelong in the final and we've got their number ;)
