Friday August 25th

Western Bulldogs Vs St.Kilda @ Telstra Dome

I think this will be an replay of one Elimination Final from the upcoming first week of the finals. Should be a ripper of a game but Im picking the Saints due to their height up forward and returning to the Dome where they seem to like to play. I know the Doggies like playing there too but Im going the Saints in a close one.

St.Kilda by 9 points.

Saturday, August 26th

Geelong Vs Melbourne @ Skilled Stadium

Another hard one to tip - Who knows which Geelong or Melbourne are gonna turn up. I think that although the Dees won here last year their overall record at Skilled aint good. The win over the Swans would have given the cats some hope and I think they'll continue their little late run towards September. Scarlett should be able to hold Neitz. Only worry is Mooney. Cats in a close one.

Geelong by 10 points.

Saturday, August 26th

Hawthorn Vs Kangaroos @ Aurora Stadium (Tasmania)

Going for the Hawks down at their home away from home in Tassie. Not going to badly are the hawkers and with "Buddy" Franklin and Williams in good touch and the midfield getting it down there I think they will have too much firepower for the Roos who are wanting this year to just be over with.

Hawthorn by 34 points.

Saturday, August 26th

Richmond Vs Essendon @ MCG (Night)

This game should be fairly close but in the end the tigers forwards should be able to get on top. If Hird, Lucas and Johns can turn it on then it could be close but with Richo, Krakka and co the tigers should end up victors.

Richmond by 21 points.

Saturday, August 26th

Sydney Vs Brisbane @ Telstra Stadium (Night)

This looks most likely to be the most one sided game of the weekend. Sydney coming off a bit of an upset loss to the cats will be fired up to bounce back while the lions are struggling and are blooding youngsters. With Barry Hall goal-less last week and at the big Telstra Stadium he could have big day out.

Sydney by 57 points.

Sunday, August 27th

Port Adelaide Vs Adelaide @ AAMI Stadium

Showdown 21. Normally a HUGE game for both sides this time of the year but with the power not in finals running for the first time since 2000 the crows need to win this game to bounce back from their mini slump. Adelaide like Port will be fired up and the game is likely to be close until the third term but i think the class of the Adeladie midfield will over run the power youngsters and should end up with a comfortable victory.

Adelaide by 29 points.

Sunday, August 27th

Collingwood Vs Carlton @ MCG

Collingwood were lucky to get out of the Port game last week with a win and have been struggling of late. Carlton have been galant in some of their recent losses but I think with Tarrant possibly returning and Presti possibly taking Fev this game should give the pies a bit of a confidence and percentage boost. Its been another long year for the blues and this loss should ensure they win their 3rd wooden spoon in 5 years.

Collingwood by 49 points.

Sunday, August 27th

West Coast Vs Fremantle @ Subiaco

Match of the Round by so far it isnt funny! - This has to be regarded as the Biggest derby in history. Eagles playing for top and to stop the possibility of a derby final first up and the dockers going for 8 in a row and top cement top 4. This game will be hot from the start and neither team will have too big of a break for too long. I think the thing going in the Eagles favour is that this will be finals like intensity and they will be able to run out the game better in the dying stages. Freo winning run will stop at 7 this week as the Eagles win derby 24.

West Coast by 13 points.

The inclusion of Tarrant doesn't worry me.

What I am worried about is who will be kicking our goals? Presti and/or Clement have a good record on Fev (though last time he got 3.3).

I would be suprised if most people did not tip the dockers, even though eagles are top of the ladder and it is an Eagles home game.
That would be good.
Last time we were underdogs at Subi was against Adelaide.

Bulldogs v Saints - Saints are a class above I feel
Geelong v Melbourne - too much to play for I think
Hawthorn v North - who cares
Richmond v Essendon - another blockbuster
Sydney v Brisbane - Swans is a canter
Port v Adelaide - cant see the crows losing this
Carlton v Collingwood - only Melbourne can't beat Carlton. :(
West Coast v Fremantle - easily

DOGS vs ST.K: Whilst a lot of people may back the Saints on the surface, 2 things worry me. The fact that they only kicked 7 goals in the entire match last night (Saturday Night for future reference) and that they are travelling from Perth which is never easy. Oh yeah, plus the fact that I am a Bulldog, but that's a mute point really. DOGS by 11

GEEL vs MELB: Pressure is back on the Cats, especially if the Saints do manage to get up. But they way Melbourne played in the 2nd half would suggest that they could do the same thing to Geelong. Again, watch the MRP and the Tribunal for Cam Mooney's availablility, which will have an effect on their chances of winning. Notwithstanding the fact that they are playing at home and that Melbourne have won there twice in 20 years, I still think Melbourne has a little extra to give. MELB by 19

HAW vs KAN: Who cares game for anyone outside of Launceston. Hawks are playing better footy ATM and generally play better in Tassie than anyone else. HAW by 29

RICH vs ESS: Richmond need to win by about 150 if they want to somehow have a shot at making it, so this officially is a who cares match for anyone apart from fans of tanking for draft picks (which doesn't exist). I'll watch the late replay to see how Richmond went today (Sunday), but despite not thumping Carlton like good teams would, I still think they would have enough in reserve to beat the Bombers. RICH by 10, but may be tempting to back Essendon

SYD vs BRIS: Beware a wounded swan, particularly at home at the SCG. Brisbane I believe have done a "Ryan Griffen" (Given Up) on the season, and with a few has beens, never was'es and never will be's in the side, one senses a thumping. Oh, and the fact that Brisbane have only won at the SCG about 3 times in history (that I can remember). SYD by 62, possibly more

SHOWDOWN XXI: Port have a chance of sneaking an upset here. The Crows are not in a slump but are having an "Alexander" at the wrong time of the year. Sure Port have a pretty decent injury list but their form on Friday night in sticking with McGuire for so long suggests that they can roll Adelaide. PORT by 9, get on if they are getting start for line betting players

COLL vs CARL: The big question this week is not whether the Pies will win the match and keep their hopes of a top 4 result alive (they will thump the blues despite Fev kicking about 6). Oh no. We we all be watching to see if Mick Malthouse will explode at some stage in either the coaches box (in particular) or at the after match press conference. Shame this isn't the Fox Footy match really, they could have a camera for digital subscribers fixed on the Collingwood box. McGUIRE by 52, Malthouse to keep his calm until the press conference after another Chris Tarrant story in the Papers comes to light

WESTERN DERBY XXIV: If the last Derby was the best ever, then this could even exceed that in terms of excitement. The Purples have finally decided to become a half decent team. Weagles on a high and starting to really gather momentum. Both have everything to play for (Top spot for the Coasters, Top 4 for the Purples), both will be under the weight of expectation, both will want bragging rights for however long it is valid. Oh yeah, I have to make a tip......WC by 2, I honestly have no idea on this one

Round 20
4 Rippers
4 Fizzers

Friday August 25th
Western Bulldogs Vs St.Kilda @ Telstra Dome
After the hopeless performance in the West, the Saints will be looking to atone against a side full of confidence after beating the flag favourites. After the hard trip back from the loss in Perth, the Saints will be unable to. Hamill's return (presumably) is a boost, but the hard runners in the Doggies midfield and the skills of Brad Johnson and Matty Robbins up front should get the boys from Footscray over the line.
Western Bulldogs by 11 points.

Saturday, August 26th
Geelong Vs Melbourne @ Skilled Stadium
Melbourne's devastating in the second half against a pitiful Kangaroos, but Geelong was equally as impressive, taking care of our mob at Kardinia. A hard one to tip seeing Geelong's finals hopes are still slightly alive. So with the Dees on the downfall, a close one is on the cards.
Geelong by 3 points.

Saturday, August 26th
Hawthorn Vs Kangaroos @ Aurora Stadium (Tasmania)
Golden Rule for a punter: Hawthorn do not lose in Tassie. Against quality opposition the Hawks are very good here. Against poor opposition they will be better. The Kangaroos, mauled by the Dees will again fall victim by a considerable margin.
Hawthorn by 40 points.

Saturday, August 26th
Richmond Vs Essendon @ MCG (Night)
The Tigers are a very well coached unit with a crop of upcoming youngsters and seasoned campaigners. Essendon are a un-encouraging mob of old hacks and useless kids. With Hird tiring in his old age there isn't much at Windy Hill apart from an inform Lucas and an evergreen Fletcher. That's enough for the Tigers to overcome quite comfortably.
Richmond by 74 points.

Saturday, August 26th
Sydney Vs Brisbane @ Sydney (Night)
Hall. Goodes. Two words that strike fear into any opposition. Accompany that with a Kirk, an O'Keefe, a couple of Boltons, a rejuvenated Davis, a fit Mathews, a plucky Ablett and a few young guns, it makes a pretty good unit to take on the former champions. In their prime Sydney was the Lions bogey team, now the Lions are Sydney's whipping boys.
Sydney by 112 points.

Sunday, August 27th
Port Adelaide Vs Adelaide @ AAMI Stadium
SHOWDOWN! The greatest rivalry in South Australia takes place this week, in a danger game for the Crows. With a perfect set up and an even team across all areas it's hard to think the Crows could lose against the 11th team. But with the Cornes brothers, Shaun Burgoyne and Pearce all in great form, we are set for a thriller at AAMI.
Adelaide by 4 points.

Sunday, August 27th
Collingwood Vs Carlton @ MCG
It's a shame that the greatest rivalry in football keeps turning out fizzers, but the Pies are trying for a flag, and the Blues are trying for Bryce Gibbs. It will be a slaughter. If you're a Blues fan, don't turn up.
Collingwood by 93 points.

Sunday, August 27th
West Coast Vs Fremantle @ Subiaco
The Eagles are red hot at the moment with top spot opening up for them. The Dockers are white hot with a run of 7 wins. They blasted the Saints and West Coast did likewise to Brisbane. A midfield showdown of with Pavlich v Glass the key. Match of the round should be a beauty, pity for me it's on Fox Footy :(.
Fremantle by 2 points.

Western Bulldogs Vs St.Kilda - 35 points
St. Kilda not looking too strong at this point in time but should be right for the finals, i just think the bullies will prevail in the final term for a comfortable win

Geelong Vs Melbourne - 20 points
Geelong are no good, Melbourne are its simple as that.

Hawthorn Vs Kangaroos - 18 points
nice little battle here but the roos should prevail over a poor hawks

Richmond Vs Essendon - 24 points
the tiges look alot better than the dons at this point in time and the tigers younger brigade should stand up

Sydney Vs Brisbane - 54 points
Brisbane arent any good, Sydney are, another easy tip.

Port Adelaide Vs Adelaide - 40 points
should be a good game but the last quarter run away by the Crows should see them back into some sort of form.

Collingwood Vs Carlton - 6 points
Collingwood may be average buyt not "Carlton average", Pies in a close one.

West Coast Vs Fremantle - 7 points
this will be match of the round quite easily with both teams playing for some braggin rights going into september, this should be a fierce contest, i think Freo will prevail in the end.

Interesting theory, although the Hawks haven't been poor in the last 2 weeks, they have run out of legs in both games.

In fact I would say that in both games our first half was some of the most attractive football a side has played this season - BTW we now have the same amount of wins as Port, so we are certainly improving.

Western Bulldogs Vs St.Kilda - 23 points
Doggies will run the Saints off their feet.

Geelong Vs Melbourne
Can't tip this one, simply too hard.

Hawthorn Vs Kangaroos - 2 points
Another hard game to tip.

Richmond Vs Essendon - 49 points
Tigers to win this one easily.

Sydney Vs Brisbane - 87 points
This game could get ugly.

Port Adelaide Vs Adelaide - 15 points
Adelaide are out of form but should be able to get up in the Showdown.

Collingwood Vs Carlton - 38 points
Would love to see Carlton win but it won't happen.

West Coast Vs Fremantle - 1 point
Freo are the real deal, but will only just get up against the premiership favourites.

Western Bulldogs Vs St.Kilda - Saints struggle againt quick sides
Geelong
Vs Melbourne - skilled staduim is a hard place to win dees go ok there but cats for me

So true, it's 1998 all over again :D - but unlike then we actually have talent this time...well hopefully

Expect us to win 5 in a row and finish 12-13th, win the NAB cup and finish 9th - after promising so much and finishing the season strongly.

Bulldogs Vs St Kilda @ Telstra Dome - St Kilda by 5 points.
Geelong Vs Melbourne @ Skilled Stadium - Melbourne by 22 Points.
Hawthorn Vs Kangaroos @ Aurora - Kangaroos by 12 Points.
Richmond Vs Essendon @ MCG - Richmond by 23 Points.
Sydney Vs Brisbane @ Telstra Stadium - Sydney by 47 Points.
