Love it.

Whether it works or not it definitely plays at keeping the WC defence out of their comfort zone. You pretty much know that the WC will back themselves in to stick with what they do. It's one of the advantages of being a massive underdog and dealing with limitations in availability, more capacity to be nimble with your approach.

I am not going to judge our progress by the result of this game, but by the way we play. It seems like our opposition analyst has identified that small, fast teams (e.g. Brisbane, Essendon) have troubled the Eagles in the past. It seems we are trying to attack the game rather than defend it.

Kudos, hope it works!

Not just the style, but also the execution. Can they play the way they want to play the whole game? Is everyone on the same page? Do some players revert to older habits when under pressure? Do they hold each other accountable for individual acts? Are they looking out for themselves (and so burn teammates) or do they play for the best option? Can they execute basic football skills?

For me, these things are important than the strategy we devise.

TBH I'm not as worried about the execution as I am about the intent - young players working out a new game plan will make errors. It's not all going to gel in a week, and West Coast will certainly apply a lot of pressure, so we WILL make mistakes. What we need to see is gradual improvement in connection and a manic attack on the ball and man. The rest will come in time.

If we win this. It will 100% be the biggest upset in our history imo. Yes it will overtake that win against Geelong in 13.

Like the changes.. keep the i50 deliveries low to bring our smalls in and keep McGovern out. Worried about centre clearances, but confident our defence will hold up.

Yes, I'm not expecting them to be perfect. But for me, all of us fans these days almost focus too much on what the "right" game plan is. There are many strategies that can be used to win a game. But what they all share in common is that they are executed well. With lots of appetite for the contest.

I like the way we have attempted to play this season -- it _is_ a change from what came before -- but all the strategies in the world won't help us too much if Langdon can't hit McCarthy on the chest from 20m or Walters flies for a big mark at Full Back and doesn't impact the play while his opponent stays down to crumb the goal.

So lets play fast and offensive football, but lets also remember to do the simple things well.

The 2013 win in Geelong shouldn't really be considered that much an upset. Its just we did it in final.

I mean we finished one spot lower and was placed on the field most similar to ours. The most overrated streak in history was Geelong in Geelong. Played bottom eight sides there for years bar maybe three or four of those games.

We've had much bigger upsets than that game imo.

Walters sat on McGovern’s head last year, to be fair to him flying for the mark.

The biggest problem I can see is centre clearances (West Coast smoked Collingwood last week) and the kick from the wing to the half forward. Barass, McGovern and Hurn have killed us.

I have a feeling there will be a lot of fines and suspensions.

We’ll lose by 50

So theres been an article written claiming some eagles fans will boo brayshaw.

Gutter journalism - only a complete peanut would do that and generally speaking peanuts like that arent original enough to come up with the idea in the first place

unfortunately this article will probably become a self fulfilling prophesy - as it was probably intended to be - noone on our board agrees with it - anyone who does is a fkkkkkn idiot.

So apologies in advance if it does happen - rest assured we will do our best to try stop it.

Brayshaw is a champ whos classy response to a life altering event deserves 100% respect - i dont know if i could be that magnanimous given the circumstances.

I really like that West Coast named both Hickey and Vardy. Really think we role the dice and go with Luke Ryan to run off when either play forward. While also playing Ryan on Oscar-Allen when neither Vardy or Hickey are both not forward. Hughes to Cripps, Wilson to Liam Ryan, Alex Pearce to Darling. Hamling to Kennedy, Duman to Oscar-Allen (when Vardy or Hickey forward) and Colyer to Petruccelle would be my tip for the main match-ups in defence. Conca and Cerra mostly mid hopefully.

Hey, if Walters takes the mark last week, or even just makes sure that the ball doesn't get behind the defence, then there is no problem! But he didn't ... So live by the sword die by the sword.

I really hope we don't go the knuckle on Saturday. That's the kind of weak, false toughness I'd expect from a Cunnington. Just be hard at the ball.

Kind of like the complete peanut West Coast supporters who booed Tom Hawkins when he was being stretchered off unconscious a few years back. WC supporters will boo, it's all they know.

This will be interesting

Mcgovern, Barass, Hickey, Vardy and Kennedy aren’t really know as mobile endurance runners.

Let’s hope we turn it in to a running race and not let them turn it into a tug of war.

Nothing to do with hanging onto the past, some are forgetting what Sandy has meant to Freo . Some have very short memories.
Very, very short memories. Our record the last two years with Sandy. 11 wins and 10 losses. Without him 5 wins and 18 losses. To be fair its mostly the completely clueless poster types that underate him.

Hope Switta can finally begin his proper journey into becoming our no.1 small forward, guy has it all to become big, hope this season is his chance to prove it. Him and Matera should ideally be our smalls for the future (If Matera can continue his form from last week of course, but I have faith.)

Josh Kennedy pleading with fans not to boo. He knows deep down how trashy and feral the fans will and are.
So no don’t be surprised one bit if they boo. That’s the class and quality of west coast fans
