OUT: Skipworth, Knights.

Roo probably won't play, but I can't believe Knights has been dropped. There is no point him playing in the SANFL, he is clearly a step above.

Bit of a surprise to see Knights dropped, I thought he did alright on the weekend.

I'm happy Bernie Vince is playing again :D :D

Knights probably needs this reality check. He killed it in the Wok cup and maybe subconciously he got complacement or something because he does seem a little off his game.

However in saying that I felt he has been getting better each week so I am a little suprised. A couple of very good ins though :D

If Roo doesnt come up I would like to see Knights retained over Skipworth.

from what I hear Roo is pretty much 50/50 so you would imagine knights would come back in

Not really. I think the pace of the game is too much for him at the moment and a run in SANFL will do him the world of good.

I very much doubt Roo will play. I think Thommo will but Roo won't. I expect either Skippy or Stevens to come in for Roo.

Very unlikely that because Knights is not even on the emergency list. Roo will come out and one of the emergencies will come in (Skippy, Maric or Stevens)

I disagree, as I do with suggestions that he has looked sluggish. Maybe because he hasn't had a very good chance to prove himself. He recieved 62 minutes from memory last week, now that's not exactly very fair, yet he collected 14 possessions. You can't make these judgements because he hasn't been handled very well.

Knights is a surprise to me. Thought he had been getting better each week. Was getting plenty of the pill for the amount of time on ground and generally spent it well.

He has played 9 or 10 games straight and he has had as much game time as he can handle. My issues have never been with his ability to get the ball, my issues have always been what he does after he gets it. He has been struggling and thats nothing to do with his game time and more to do with where he is up to in his development. He will be a top player but he will take longer than a lot of us expected. Vince has adapted to the pace to the game in 2 AFL games. Knights had 5 games and while he is getting a bit better at it, he is still a fair way off. He will come good though. He will get a full game in SANFL and he will be back before we know it.

Eagles have a bit of a boost for their crunch game against Ports, good to see.

Roo and Thommo are big ins, Thompson was starting to show some form again before getting injured. Hard to believe both of these two were out and we still smashed the league leaders by 13 goals.

After his insipid performance against West Coast I'll be quite glad to see the back of him ... for good

We're going to have to disagree on this one young Stiffmeister. Firstly it's 4 games - missed one with a crook shoulder - and he has been getting better each week. If you work out his possessions per minutes played in those 4 games they are up there with the very best. and I can't think of one thing wrong he did last week in his half game time on the ground.

He obviously won't play this week, because even if Roo drops out and they go a small he's not an emergency. For my money I'd rather have him in the side than Skipworth as he reads the ball better, is much quicker and a longer kick.

Still, Craig knows what he's doing. Knights will come back better than ever.

Are you suggesting that Stevens is up to the pace of the game?

Knights should be a good player but his disposal rate isn't the greatest. I'll be interested to take a look in the AFL Record this weekend and see what it lists his disposal efficiency as.

As someone said in frustration at the West Coast match 'he couldn't hit the side of a barn'.

I think this has been done as a deliberate wake up call to Knights considering he didn't even go via the emergency's. I'm surprised with the cloud over Thompson and Ricciuto and the chance of rain, that we only have one small in the emergencies.

What are people's thoughts on this? If two smaller players don't make it, Roo and someone else and the weather is damp, who would you bring in? Skipworth and the 3rd ruckman Maric, or Skipworth and the not-so-competent Stevens.

If Roo goes out then Skippy will probably come in, especially if it's a touch wet.
However, if we need another player to come in for whatever reason then I hope it's Ivan the Terrible. Biglands can play rotate from the forward line to the bench with Clarke and Maric playing on the ball and plugging up holes in the backline. Biglands to do all the rucking in the forward line with one of the other two being the loose man back. Never have all three on the ground at the same time and if Biglands needs a rest Maric could have a short stint forward.
Scott Stevens just doesn't deserve it and should only be played if absolutely necessary...well I guess that makes him next in line after Maric IMO, which shows how desperate we are for talls to come back.

Who will play more games throughout the year between Vince and Porplyzia?
Line call. Personally, I think they're each up for about 8-10 games each. Similar workload we gave to Van Berlo last year...although these two are both 'older' first year players.

4-5 is more realistic ..though injury may dictate more. But I would bet that the original plan is 4-5

If I was a betting man I would put my hard earned on Porplyzia.

Stiffy what about his pace and accleration.

They are some concern to me at the moment.

Does he have another gear?

His hands are very good though - no doubting that.
