surely knights getting dropped has to do with either of 2 things.

1. he carrying a niggling shoulder?

2. or the one i'm favoring, get a full 110 minutes outa him in the SANFL where he can get some much needed game time under his belt.

still cant see the advantages with having massie in ur side ahead of the improving knights.

Massie has performed well in the first couple of rounds. His form has been good down back. Why would Knights be ahead of him at the selection table ?

massie has played well since his oppotunity 4 games ago,...........but u know what u get with massie and imo that isnt in ur best 22. i still fail to see the sense in giving knights 50 minutes a match. last week was the perfect oppotunity to give the kid 90+ minutes and see what he has to offer. we all saw what he could do with game time in the wizard cup ;)

Stiffy what about his pace and accleration.

They are some concern to me at the moment.

Does he have another gear?

His hands are very good though - no doubting that.
Not all players need another gear, paticularly if you have awareness, cool under pressure & rarely get caught. Line ball between Vince & Porplyzia - probably will depend on injuries as to who plays the most.

#2 - needs a full game under his belt - hence not named as an emergency.

Very unlikely that because Knights is not even on the emergency list. Roo will come out and one of the emergencies will come in (Skippy, Maric or Stevens)
At least this week we have covered all bases with our emergencies, but given the conditions, you would expect Skippy would be the in if Roo doesn't play.

the thing with Knights is, that you never know what the coaches instructions are and if he's meeting them or not.
Yeah he is still learning (the defensive side) & after a reasonable consecutive games with the Crows (but with a fair bit of bench time), it is not going to harm him getting a full run with the Eagles.

Small snippet in the West says there is more to his ''hamstring strain'' than reported

Did he have tests with Schwerdt?

Pftt!

Every time there is an injury these days people are suggesting 'theres something more' to it.

Craig has said time and time again it was a slight strain and just general soreness.

Don't believe the paper.

He has played 9 or 10 games straight and he has had as much game time as he can handle. My issues have never been with his ability to get the ball, my issues have always been what he does after he gets it. He has been struggling and thats nothing to do with his game time and more to do with where he is up to in his development. He will be a top player but he will take longer than a lot of us expected. Vince has adapted to the pace to the game in 2 AFL games. Knights had 5 games and while he is getting a bit better at it, he is still a fair way off. He will come good though. He will get a full game in SANFL and he will be back before we know it.
Vince has had 2 games for a total of 14 possesions (9 kicks, 5 handballs), and 1 goal 1 point. I wouldnt have thought he's been all that impressive. Considering Knights (4 games, 56 possesions, 28 k, 28hb at an average of 7k and 7 hb per game) has averaged double Vinces possesions per game, I think he is very hard done by.

Pace and intensity go up a couple of notches in season proper compared to NAB Cup games and Knights is finding that out.

FFS, as I clarified earlier its NOT about the number of possesions he gets. You leave him on the ground for full game and I can guarantee you that he will be a top possesion winner for us. Its other aspects of his game that are letting him down. He is not clean with his disposal when he gets it and he quite often is a rabbit in the headlights out there. He will get better but Bernie's game against the Doggies was a HUGE improvement on his AFL debut. He actually looked comfortable with the pace of the game and intensity.

Sometimes I wish BigFooty would allow us to use different size font because I will say it for the millionth time ITS NOT ABOUT THE NUMBER OF POSSESIONS!!!!!!

Without a doubt. It will be wet, it will be windy and the weather will reportedly take a turn for the worst during the game. We will go in with the small line up and Skippy is a certainty to come in.

You could perhaps use a brighter colour and underline it too. Even a different font will spruce things up a bit. :D

Or he could even spell it correctly!! ::p

Personally, I thought Knights played well in his limited ground time and had no trouble with the pace of the game. He also used the ball far better than he had been doing. I can remember two kicks in particular that set up goals.

Clangers for the game - NIL.

I think he's really stiff if Skipworth gets a game before him.

Possessions are slightly overrated, especially with the game changing, where players can chip the ball around, handball backwards, have 10 touches before it goes forward. Looks great on paper but doesnt help the team.

I'd rather a bloke who has 12 touches and uses all of them. Than a guy who has 20, turns 10 over, and 5 more are useless kicks up in the air.

Mark Ricciuto now seems certain to lead Adelaide against Port Adelaide in Showdown 20 at AAMI Stadium on Saturday night.

Ricciuto completed the Crows' training session on Friday and he will resume from a one-match absence with hamstring soreness if he pulls up soundly on Saturday morning.

Scott Thompson, who also missed the big win against the Western Bulldogs last week because of a groin strain, trained well on Friday, too, and will be 'okay', according to Craig.

"We still have to make a final decision on Roo," Craig said. "He could not have done any more than what he was asked to do this morning. I guess the real question is whether you take a risk or not. There is always some form of risk … we just have to have a final check with the medicos first and then we will make that decision.

"He is an experienced player, so what Marks says has a lot of weight. We'll wait until tomorrow morning to see if things are okay. The good news was that he was able to train pain-free."

Craig said the weather forecast - wet and windy - would not have anything to do with Ricciuto's availability.

Ricciuto and Thompson in for Hayden Skipworth and Chris Knights were the only changes to Adelaide's team which beat the Bulldogs by 77 points last week.

Craig has said Porps is on the "edge" of acceptability for a midfielder - He also appears to me ATS to be a bit one paced.

***BUT***

I thought the same of Sugar in his first year as well!

What I think will happen is this:

1. He will speed up to AFL tempo with more games under his belt.

2. He will be doing A LOT of running with sprint coaches for next season

3. He'll have to drop a bit of weight - IMO a bit TOO big ATP.

But again IMO he's a beauty....great hands, great footy brain and lots of development left.

Agreed - and I think one reason why he could get more games than Bernie is that he is more versatile and seems to be able to play in a variety of spots meaning he is more likely to get the nod to be in the 22 as an interchange player when spots [hopefully] start getting tight.
